Fashion news: Buy YSL’s apartment, artist envisions fashion elite sur la toilette and attack of the Bieber boys
Trendy apartment hunters need not look further! The left bank apartment on rue de Babylone that housed the late Yves Saint Laurent from 1970 onward is now for sale. Asking price is a humble €23.5 million.[NY Times via Fashionologie]
Have you ever imagined Anna Wintour sitting on the toilet flipping through porn? Neither have we. Artist aleXsandro Palombo’s did, however, with his new collection of graphic drawings, Toilet Chic, featuring various members of the fashion elite sitting on the can. [Refinery 29]

Fashion news: Gen Art shutters, Anna Wintour dances and Jean Paul Gaultier designs a creepy bedspread
Gen Art, an organization that supported and showcased up-and-coming fashion, art and music talent–including Zac Posen and Vena Cava–has closed its doors. A statement on their website points to the sudden end of a corporate partnership, which Gen Art had been counting on for revenue. [Gen Art]

Jean Paul Gaultier is designing a line for the haute, modern furniture company Roche Bobois, whose Missoni-covered modular sofas we have long coveted. The line hasn’t been released yet, but we hope it won’t look like the creepy bedspread above, which Gaultier designed for a show in Paris. [WWD, sub req]

Model Minute: Kirsten
We met Kirsten from Ford Models earlier this year when she appeared in our On the Market: Feminine details video. If you’ve had your eyes open you may have spotted her in editorials for Ion magazine or for the online publication Fantasticsmag. We chatted with the up-and-coming face about exotic locales, Adam Lambert and getting the boot from Value Village.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve had to do for a shoot? Last summer I shot for Ion magazine with Norman Wong. We shot the entire story with disposable cameras, changing location from the studio, to Kensington, Union Station and the Beach. He told me and the two other models to go crazy and do whatever we wanted, which resulted in us getting kicked out of Value Village, hopping fences, and earned us some dirty looks from protestors on the street. It was definitely the most fun and adventurous shoot I’ve done!

New York street style: Abbey Lee is our favourite flower girl
It might be fall fashion week (and the middle of winter), but we know in which season Abbey Lee Kershaw’s heart lay. Underneath her cozy shawl and a oversized (surely vintage) coat are the springiest leggings we’ve ever seen. (We’ve also spent the last 5 minutes trying to figure out how her bag works. Accessory envy!)

Stam and Coco love their Timmy’s
Coco Rocha and Jessica Stam are apparently thrilled at the in-roads Tim Hortons is making in NYC. Stam tweeted last week that she discovered an outpost four blocks from her apartment and friend and fellow Canuck Coco Rocha replied, “I found it! Timmy Ho’s in NYC!!! Life is complete.” That’s right: Timmy Ho’s.

Fashion news: Karl’s new mag, Choo shenanigans in Shanghai and some rumours dispelled
The Daily Beast compiled a list of the 10 most valuable models. If the suspense is killing you, Gisele is number one, followed by Christy Turlington (7), Kate Moss (2) and the usual suspects. We’d argue that Daria (5) is hardly an “up-and-comer” though, so you can probably take this all with a grain of salt. [Daily Beast]

Mark Fast’s size scuffle, model flops at Phillip Lim and more
Mark Fast’s show at London Fashion Week is causing a stir for his use of three average-sized models. Two staff members–the stylist and creative designer–quit because of the decision. The real upset here is that it’s even a big deal that these girls are giving the rake-thin beanpoles a run for their money. There’s plenty of room on the runway for everyone, right? [Fashionista] [YouTube]
What do you think of Fast’s decision? Do you want to see more realistic sizes on the runway? Tell us in the comments!

Lara Stone picks favourites for Not Just a Label
Dutch model Lara Stone, a.k.a. “The new Brigitte Bardot” has curated a collection of pieces for Not Just a Label (notjustalabel.com), a directory/showroom for up-and-coming designers of the avant-garde variety. That’s right: curated. Not designed. Phew. Though based on her picks, we wouldn’t mind if Stone took a stab at a capsule collection. The collection launches today and will be available for the month of September.

Video: Raquel Zimmermann on Karl, Grace and bleach blonde hair
In an interview with GNT Fashion in her native Brazil, Raquel Zimmermann chats about her decade-long fashion career, her love for Vogue’s Grace Coddington and how Karl Lagerfeld is actually a “sweet, friendly, funny person.” The clip is worth watching for the eye candy alone–delicious editorials and video evidence of Zimmermann’s skills as a runway stalker. Charlottetown: A model of local style
I’ve been writing FASHION’s Charlottetown blog for one year, and this is (sadly) my final post. When I began this bi-weekly blog, I did so with the intention of showcasing the talented and independent designers, musicians, and models who reside in my favourite part of the great white north. While perusing my clippings I realized that I had yet to interview any hometown models. My last blog is dedicated to Ellen Connaughton, a nineteen-year-old who’s modeled for nearly all of the independent artists that I have written about and who defines and understands what it means to work in fashion on the East Coast.
