Inside Vancouver’s first Topshop: The store scoop and opening party photos with Shanae Grimes and Heather Marks!
See the Topshop Vancouver opening photos »
Vancouver’s media and fashion folk clamoured into Topshop’s glossy new Granville Street location in the basement of the Bay yesterday, taking tours through the almost maze-like black mirrored space as they absorbed the many and varied sections the British export had on offer. From mod silhouettes to a Scandinavian-meets-military line to the fast fashion retailer’s exclusive collaboration with J.W. Anderson, the sheer number of covetable pieces was almost overwhelming. And then, there was the shoe wall—any red-blooded woman alive would experience a flutter of heart palpitations upon walking into the sleek space, where studded fall-apropos suede booties took up residence alongside futuristic powder pink and gold heels.

Inside downtown Toronto’s first Marshalls location: Gucci, Nike, Roxy and more flood the racks inside what used to be clubland’s hottest spot
Check out the first downtown Toronto Marshalls
The doors at 126 John St. in Toronto have been shut for two years until Marshalls—an American version of our beloved Winners—reopened them. After the downfall of Peter Gatien’s mega-club/mega-maze, C!RCA, no one knew what to expect from the ridiculously large space until now.
The first downtown location (there are over a dozen other locations in Ontario) of Marshalls spans two floors and occupies 29,000 square feet of off-price designer goods and a whole lot of deals.

Inside Toronto’s newest J.Crew: The full details on the brand’s new unisex Eaton Centre outpost
Check out the photos of J.Crew Eaton Centre
For the first time in Toronto, men can shop at J.Crew. After the exclusion of the men’s line (much to shoppers dismay) at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, the newest J.Crew outpost in the Toronto Eaton Centre features all that the company has to offer.
The iconic American brand has settled in to a 9,000 square foot space in the on the third floor (formerly Bebe), and has filled the space with blonde hardwood and knick-knacks. Mannequins dressed in multi-layered outfits (think preppy collars poking out from underneath brightly-hued cashmere sweaters, crossbody bags and jeweled necklaces slung with ease) showcase what J.Crew does best.

Inside Topshop Queen Street: We tour the It Brit label’s latest shop-in-shop at the Bay
Check out the pictures from the new store!
It Brit megabrand Topshop has finally gotten a space to call their own in downtown Toronto. After opening a two-floor shop-in-shop at Yorkdale Shopping Centre last year (and kicking it all off with a blowout party featuring Coco Rocha, The Kills and Harley Viera Newton, to boot), Topshop has one-upped its first Canadian location, by opening an expanded spot at The Bay Queen Street. What used to be a small selection of the brand’s wears has been transformed into a 19,000 square feet of mirrored mecca rivaled only by its predecessor.
Topshop is loved by the likes of Kate Moss and Alexa Chung, so you know the brand is top notch. The Bay’s new Queen Street shop-in-shop has been filled with fur hats, two-tone purses and graphic sweaters that all seem just perfect for an early shopping spree. While the clothing is fine and dandy and we’d be happy to carry armfuls of clothing out of there, upon spotting the shoe section, we almost fainted.

Inside Canada’s first Ann Taylor: We tour the new working girl haven at Toronto Eaton Centre
Check out the first Canadian Ann Taylor store and party pics!
Ann Taylor has touched down on Canadian soil. As a part of the brand’s global expansion, the first Canadian store was unveiled atToronto Eaton Centre. Conveniently nestled between the must-shop Apple Store and Lululemon, the bright white space was unveiled on Thursday. And there’s only one way to celebrate a store and that’s a party.
The spacious store was filled with bloggers like Style Panel’s Gracie Carroll and The Backseat Stylers’ Sharon Ng Hayes. Zoomer Magazine’s editor Suzanne Boyd and menswear designer Farley Chatto also showed up with others to scope the selection. Champagne and wine was sipped and tiny snacks consumed, the makings of any good party.

Everything you need to know about Louis Vuitton’s new Toronto Maison (and the lucky few who toasted its opening)
View the Louis Vuitton Maison Toronto interior photos »
View the Louis Vuitton Maison Toronto opening party photos »Louis Vuitton’s got a brand new bag. Or rather, a gorgeous new Maison to house all those bags. The monogrammed megabrand finally opened the doors at its new Toronto location last month, revealing a palatial space three times as big as its last at 150 Bloor Street West. We haven’t stopped ogling since. Designed by none other than leather-daddy architect Peter Marino, the shimmering two-floor glass and steel mecca houses virtually everything that Louis Vuitton is known for, including full selections of luggage, small leather goods, bags, shoes, accessories, ready-to-wear and even custom-designed fine jewellery, unique to the location (LV + TO charm bracelets?). It is also the first store in Canada to feature Louis Vuitton’s exclusive “Haute Maroquinerie” service for made to order leather goods. Sounds pretty haute to us.

Tailor extraordinaire Philip Sparks opens his first freestanding store on Toronto’s über-hip Ossington Avenue strip
For those of you (and we hope it was all of you) who were wondering why Fashion Week favourite Philip Sparks wasn’t anywhere to be found on the official or unofficial schedules, rest assured, it wasn’t because he closed up shop. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Freshly launched for spring, the tailor extraordinaire has opened his first freestanding store just off of the über-hip Ossington Avenue strip in Toronto. With its large and brightly lit arrow outside, its antique typewriters and its raw wood displays framing the designer’s wears, the shop is as sweet as one might assume. And it’s chockfull of his delightful spring collections for men and women to boot. Haven’t got any plans this weekend? Well, now you do!

It’s been a few months since Occupy Yorkdale Mall (minus the protesters and plus the influx of amazing foreign retailers) went down, but it seems that the moving just wont quit. Go inside Joe Fresh’s first Queen Street West store
Finally, a Joe Fresh you don’t need a car to visit! Today the Canadian retailer opens its newest standalone store on Toronto’s Queen Street West in an expansive, white and orange-lacquered space. More space means more selection: men’s and women’s runway and ready-to-wear apparel (including activewear, sleepwear, cosmetics, and accessories) is all available—but it’s the wide range of sizes in stock that really has us impressed.
And here’s the big news: Visit the store today and get a cool 20 per cent off all purchases! Special promotions and in-store entertainment will continue throughout the weekend.

Go inside Canada’s first ever Topshop (!!!), and peep creative director Kate Phelan’s top 5 picks
The British are coming! Or rather, they’re here. At this very moment, actually, Topshop and Topman are opening the doors to their first Canadian store at Yorkdale Mall. We previewed the shop-in-shop at the Bay yesterday with creative director and former British Vogue fashion director Kate Phelan in tow. As we scurried through the 15,000-square-foot space along with Phelan (lots to see/mentally shop for/freak out over, so little time), we were tickled to see that all the familiar Topshop bases were covered—from the Unique and Boutique collections (Mary Katrantzou, Pamela Love, David Koma, and more collabs coming for the holidays!), to the seizure-inducing shoe wall and makeup. “What you see here is what you’ll see in one of our main stores in [London’s] Oxford Circus,” said Phelan. “Each of the trends is broken up into different stories so that you can pick and choose what you love. Topshop is really about styling yourself and finding your personality and not having to be dictated to.” While we could easily slide a hundred or more items onto our arm for the fitting room (and we did, we really did), Phelan whittled her faves down to a cool five. Buy them now, or we will.
