Royal baby meets butterflies: Peep the adorable new family portraits revealed in honour of Prince George’s first birthday
New family portraits have been released on the eve of Prince George’s first birthday and we’re absolutely smitten. (what else is new) Though the public is seeing them for the first time, the family portrait, photographed by Press Association photographer John Stillwell, was actually taken a few weeks ago when the Royal family visited Sensational Butterflies exhibition at the National History Museum before heading over to Wimbledon.
Both candid photos show the Royal family in an informal setting, happily observing and pointing out the many butterflies fluttering around. One photo shows the family looking up in the same direction with Georgie adorably reaching into the air, but we can’t stop smiling at the second picture where the trio is sitting on a bench with the curious little prince on Kate Middleton’s lap ready to touch the Blue Morpho butterfly resting on his father’s hand. Honestly, can they be any more perfect? (Nope)

Prince George shows off his first steps while Kate Middleton wears Alexander McQueen and Christopher Kane

It was quite the Kate Middleton-filled weekend with our favourite royal making three official appearances donning some things old, some things new and some things blue.
In honour of Queen Elizabeth II, the royal family paraded down the streets of London for the Trooping The Colour, The Queen’s annual birthday celebrating complete with 1,400 officers, 200 horses and 400 hundred musicians. While Prince William and Prince Charles rode on horseback, the Duchess of Cambridge accompanied Prince Harry and The Duchess of Cornwall in a horse-drawn carriage waving at crowds of onlookers. Stepping out in a second new outfit of the week, Kate once again opted for Alexander McQueen (it’s her third time wearing the British designer brand at the annual event), looking elegant as ever. Dressed in a bespoke icy blue skirt suit, which featured an embroidered crop jacket, the structured peplum detail stylishly accentuated her slight body. Matching accordingly with a Jane Taylor hat, she added pearl jewellery that including a never-before-seen pearl brooch and pearl-dropped earrings by Annoushka, and finished off with a simple taupe box clutch by Alexander McQueen.

So much happened in Australia this weekend! When we last saw them on Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George had just arrived on the continent and the royal trio certainly had a busy Easter weekend. First up, the couple visited the Royal Easter Show in Sydney, where Kate Middleton joked about Prince William using some just-shorn alpaca fur as a toupee—and thus causing a thousand royal reporters around the globe to burst out laughing. The afternoon was spent on the beach, where’s Kate’s wardrobe choice for the day—a cream lace eyelet dress by Zimmermann and Stuart Weitzman wedge sandals—didn’t miss a beat. Though the royals did miss a chance to try surfing…

Sorry, we’ve been staring at Prince George’s chunky little legs all morning. Even Kate Middleton called him a “very podgy baby” this week (a posh way of saying pudgy, really) and who are we to disagree? That kid has adorable on lock! Which is probably why yesterday the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent their last day in New Zealand away from the public, doing their own thing with Baby George. However, today the royal tour is back on, and with it, two new looks from Kate Middleton.

Kate Middleton wears Tory Burch while joining Prince George on a playdate

Big day, guys! Prince George had his first official royal engagement this morning: he attended a playgroup with the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society. It’s a group that supports families and babies down under and hopefully they all got some training on how to not drop your child the moment Kate Middleton appears, as we’re pretty sure that would be our reaction.
In true Kate style, the duchess looked flawless in a printed dress by Tory Burch that was both playful and perfectly suited for a royal appearance. It’s Kate’s first time wearing Tory Burch, and devoted followers of her wardrobe choices have speculated that the black and white print is what made her choose this look, as those are the official colours of New Zealand. The dress is, of course, already sold out, though should you be able to get your hands on one, its stretch fabric and textured fringe make it an ideal item for wearing around dozens of babies. Bonus: it coordinated quite well with George’s ah-dor-able navy blue smocked dungarees, which were by British designer Rachel Riley.

Kate Middleton channels Jackie O in New Zealand (Plus, look at those cheeks on Prince George!)

And we’re off! The royal tour of Australia and New Zealand has officially begun, with Kate, Will and Prince George arriving at Wellington Airport yesterday afternoon. It was our first IRL glimpse of the little prince since his christening last fall and that baby did not disappoint. (Case in point: He already has his own grumpy baby face meme.)
Also in the not disappointing us department was Kate Middleton, whose scarlet-red ensemble was a certainly a nod to Jackie Kennedy’s signature style. The military button coat was by Catherine Walker, who designed many outfits for Princess Diana but we’ve only seen Kate wear her twice before—both times during her tour of Canada in 2011. The coat was paired with a matching red dress and Gina Foster pillbox hat. Its placement is probably what evokes the most comparisons to Jackie O—seriously, if you squint at this Instagram you could mistake it for a photo from the ’60s!—with the hat resting at the crown of Kate’s head, her hair neatly tucked half-up underneath.

Is there better news for a Monday morning than two new photos of Kate Middleton? How about: two new photos of Kate, one of which is an official family portrait, complete with smiling Prince George, happy Lupo and doting dad, Prince William. Best Monday ever!
The official Cambridge family portrait was taken by Jason Bell, who also took the (super adorable) Prince George christening photos. Kate, Will, Prince George and Lupo are sitting in a window at apartment A1 in Kensington Palace, otherwise known as their new royal home and the family looks perfectly at ease. “Why yes, our baby does have the cutest, pudgiest cheeks! Oh, the personalized “George” sweater he’s wearing? That was just a small gift from Grandpa Charles.”

The official Prince George christening photos will warm your heart and make you love Kate even more

When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released the official christening photos for Prince George last week, his animated smile and little waving hands seemed to be saying something. Our baby body language skills being what they are, we’re going with something between “Heeeeeeeyyyyy!” and “Aren’t my parents the coolest?” Because really, both messages are there: the photos, taken by Jason Bell, are beyond friendly and demonstrate just how different the royal world of Will and Kate is compared to the monarchs-in-waiting of past.
The four photos all keep Prince George front and centre, whether he’s flanked by an adoring Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles or surrounded by the Middleton clan. (As for what Kate’s wearing, we have all outfit details here.) And if a smiling, waving Prince George wasn’t enough to brighten your weekend, on Sunday another photo was released, with the little one gazing into Kate’s eyes, smiles abound. Honestly, we encourage you to flip through all the Prince George christening photos any time you’re feeling down, they really do the trick.

Kate Middelton matches Prince George’s christening gown with off-white Alexander McQueen
Who wore off-white best: a pudgy-cute baby in a dress or the always-stunning Kate Middleton? Okay, it’s not a fair comparison, but with Prince George on the scene, attention is certainly divided. The three month old heir to the throne was christened this morning at an intimate royal affair—just 22 guests are reported to have been in attendance, including the Middleton family, Prince Harry and, of course, the Queen. (Sorry, Cressida Bonas, maybe next time!)
While Prince George’s christening outfit was decided centuries ago (he’s in a replica of the royal christening robe, the original of which is 172 years old) Kate’s christening dress is completely new. It’s a bespoke Alexander McQueen piece, which bares a striking resemblance to the ruffled Reiss dress she wore for her official engagement photos in 2010. Kate kept her hair straight with one side pinned up, the perfect style to match her cream-coloured hat by Jane Taylor and show off her Kiki McDonough citrine earrings.

Kate Middleton looks stunning while grocery shopping in a striped Ralph Lauren tee and skinny jeans
It’s been five weeks since the birth of Prince George and Kate Middleton is finally out, about and back to her usual Anglesey life of grocery shopping and looking flawless. Today she was captured by PopSugar outside a local Waitrose—the upmarket grocery chain that Pippa happens to write a monthly column for—and, well, it’s pretty much like royal baby? What royal baby?

Prince George poses with Lupo and Kate Middleton is in fuchsia for the royal baby’s first official pictures

Hello, Baby George! The first official pictures of the future King of England were released last night and the reviews are, well, mixed. In breaking with royal protocol, the pictures were taken by Kate Middleton’s father and not a professional. (Before the rumours of an amateur photog started swirling last week, Mario Testino was a favourite to take the pics, as he was behind the couple’s official engagement pictures.) This decision is a clear sign that Will and Kate are going their own way when it comes to raising George—they did, after all, spend his first few weeks at the Middleton family home in Bucklebury and not at Kensington Palace as is typical royal tradition.
We support Will and Kate’s do-it-yourself (ish) intentions, even if it means that the first official pictures of Prince George are slightly fuzzy and not properly lit. The two official photos show the couple outside—presumably somewhere on the Middleton’s sprawling property—with Kate holding George in the same swaddling blanket he wore outside St. Mary’s hospital. Also important: Take a look at Lupo! Now that’s a happy royal dog.
