Attention, designer-loving mallrats. Major renovations to take place at Holt Renfrew Yorkdale.
Holt Renfrew is publicizing the renovation of its long-standing Yorkdale location. This news comes right after two big moves at the Bay: two days ago the Bay announced the opening of The Room Vancouver, and a week ago it announced renovations at 80 of its stores across Canada. A press release issued this morning announced the expansion of Holt Renfrew’s Yorkdale store for the Holiday 2012 season. The department store will be increasing its space by 40 per cent—which means even more Marc by Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Balenciaga, as well as some hot new labels (to be announced in the coming months).

The Room II: The Bay announces the opening of its luxury store in Vancouver
Last week we found out about the nationwide renovations that are to take place at 80 of The Bay stores. Today, the company’s move towards a more luxurious market was further confirmed with a press release stating the expansion of The Bay’s luxury boutique, The Room, into Vancouver. The 23,000 square foot Yabu Pushelberg-designed space will be housed in the Granville Bay Store and will stock ready-to-wear and runway pieces, as well as footwear from thirty-five coveted designers.

And the domination continues… The Bay announces glossy nationwide renos
Today, The Bay announced that it will be renovating a whopping 80 of its 91 stores across Canada. As if the company’s recent franchise agreements with UK-based fashion powerhouses Topshop and Topman weren’t enough to have us all drooling, the multi-million dollar renovations are sure to have customers banging down the doors.

This Thursday and Friday, the Toronto Queen Street store is hosting a two-day extravaganza of British fashion, dubbed God Save the Queen. The Room will be transformed with installations and the opening night soiree will let the guest list-only crowd mingle with the cool kids of London fashion–Mark Fast, Marios Schwab, Erdem, Jonathan Saunders, Charlotte Olympia Dellal, Nicholas Kirkwood and Giles Deacon, who will be demonstrating his DJ prowess.

Fashion news: The Bay partners with ANDAM, pick through Carrie Bradshaw’s closet and model mayhem on Wall St.
image courtesy of Express It’s a good day for Canadian fashion, The Bay has just announced its place as a partner in the National Association for the Development of the Fashion Arts (ANDAM) Fashion award. “Partnering with ANDAM is a huge stride for Canada as a fashion authority and resource,” said The Bay’s fashion director, Suzanne Timmins. The ANDAM Fashion award is the world’s largest international fashion prize. Two of this year’s finalists include Canadians Mark Fast and Calla Haynes. The competition is open to fashion designers of any nationality under the age of 40 who plan to show and develop their collections in France.
According to Forbes’ Highest Paid Model list, Brazilian beauty Gisele Bündchen rakes in more cash than any other model. Interestingly, the order of this year’s list is identical to last year’s. Coincidence or copy and paste? [The Cut]
