See the Greta Constantine Fall 2013 party photos »Continuing the tradition of showing their collections off schedule and off the grid, Greta Constantine designers Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong debuted their Fall 2013 offering with a restaurant meets art party meets impromptu runway show last night in Toronto. Beginning at the west end hotspot Parts & Labour, the duo hosted the city’s top media and clients for a three-course meal, interrupted of course, by many shots of Stolichnaya vodka. As Greta-clad guests including Cronenberg It girl Sarah Gadon, socialite Stacey Jordan (formerly Kimmel) and trend forecaster Carly Stojsic indulged in main courses of chicken and gnocchi, Amazonian models took to the makeshift runway (aka the bar) in the duo’s latest wares. The clothes, while heavily styled with tribal inspiration—think long braids, faux mohawks and animal skulls worn as jewellery designed by Dandi Maestre—forged ahead with last season’s new motto: sleeker, stronger and relatively pared back. Amongst the pleated and curved statement dresses, the standout look was a long and lean cow’s hide coat paired with black wideleg pants and a simple white crew neck.

Lana Del Rey style: A chronological guide to the singer’s best fashion moments
See Lana Del Rey’s style evolution »
See our Lana Del Rey cover shoot »What can you say about Lana Del Rey? Well, what can’t you say about Lana Del Rey. Since she burst onto Youtube with her questionably homemade video for “Video Games,” her beestung lips, larger-than-life bouffant hair and exaggerated almond nails have utterly transfixed. If you’ve ever visited this site, you’d know how much. (Case in point: this step-by-step tutorial)
In her videos, she’s channelled everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Nancy Sinatra. In performances, she’s a total badass. Her vintage aesthetic has been used to sell H&M, Mulberry, Jaguar and more loosely, the American dream. IRL, Lana Del Rey’s style is akin to a modern-day hipster. Her look is constantly transforming, and as such, deserves observing.
In celebration of our current cover girl, we set out to document our favourite Lana Del Rey style and fashion moments on and off screen. Beginning with her first awards show appearance in Prabal Gurung’s ubiquitous floral-print dress and later, in standout looks from Vivienne Westwood, Versace and more, we catch LDR at her very best. And since we know that the latest greatest look is always around the corner, we’ll be adding to this look book á la this never-ending ode to the Duchess of Cambridge.

From the May 2013 issue: The Graduate inspires our seductive “Animal Attraction” photo shoot

A seasoned seductress, her young prey, his true love—characters inspired by the ’60s classic The Graduate—gather for a cinematic take on the season’s trends. In this photo shoot from our May 2013 issue, we tapped legendary Canadian model Donna Demarco, still a smokeshow at 68-years-old, to pose as a latter day Mrs. Robinson alongside our version of Dustin Hoffman’s Benjamin Braddock, Matt Apedaile. Cast in the role of his age-appropriate love: Canadian favourite Addison Gill’s innocence in Spring 2013 Prada is pitch perfect.

The Duchess of Cambridge clothes her baby bump in mint Mulberry for a visit with the Queen’s Scouts
See all of Kate’s recent appearances »
The Royal baby bump watch continues. The Duchess of Cambridge was out in a rather springy look yesterday, as she attended the National Review of Queen’s Scouts at Windsor Castle. A volunteer with the Scouts Association since January of last year, Kate’s visit was marked, as usual, by a presentation of a floral bouquet, as she and the rest of the crowd watched the annual National Scout Service and Parade which featured the Scouts Band and the Irish Guards playing kid-friendly songs like “New York” and “Star Wars.”
Chief Scout Bear Grylls (if you’ve ever seen Man vs. Wild, you’ll know he’s got the scout chops) was on hand to greet Kate and told reporters that she “is an incredible role model and she helps us show that Scouting’s not just for boys.”

The Duchess of Cambridge continues her visit to Scotland in Armani and an apropos tartan scarf
See this look in our Kate Middleton wardrobe gallery »
Continuing their visit to Scotland, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made another appearance today with two separate engagements that included the opening of a new outdoor centre and a visit to the company responsible for building submarines for the UK Royal Navy.
Keeping with her tendency to recycle clothing, Kate Middleton wore an Armani red angora coat that she first wore to William’s passing out ceremony back in 2006. The wrap-around style still manages to conceal Kate’s baby bump, but we can see that she is starting to show a little bit more.
Continuing her Scottish theme from yesterday (she wore a tartan print coat by Molah), Kate also wore a Strathearn tartan scarf that she wore previously at the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant last year, which is a nod to her Scottish title, The Countess of Strathearn. She completed the look with the same Aquatalia boots that she wore yesterday, a pair of stunning amethyst drop earrings by Kiki McDonough, and her trademark Cornelia James side bow gloves.

Kate Middleton uses a tartan print to disguise the royal baby bump in Scotland
See Kate Middleton’s baby bump-hiding outfit up close »
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are in Scotland for two days and, fun fact: while north of the English border they’re formally known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn. (So many royal titles!) In keeping with the Scottish theme, Kate Middleton wore a new tartan print coat by the British brand Moloh, possibly purchased for its uncanny ability to hide the baby bump we’re all eager to see.
(Seriously, Hollywood starlets wary of tabloid rumours should all be taking notes from Kate Middleton’s pregnancy style. It’s impenetrable.)
William and Kate spent the day in Glasgow, meeting with locals as well as the official mascot for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. In the afternoon they visited a centre for homeless youth and had the chance to partake in various activities that the centre offers. Most notably, Will attempted to learn how to play DJ and mix records, a mental image we’ll spend the rest of the week delighting in.
But, back to Kate! The Duchess paired her tartan Moloh coat with black accessories, including opaque tights, her favourite Aquatalia boots and a clutch purse.

Fall 2013 Trends: 100 runway and street style photos of fashion month’s top 10 biggest moments
See the biggest Fall 2013 fashion trends »
See all our fashion month coverage »Fashion month may have finally wrapped, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to forget about the trends that emerged for Fall 2013 on the many runways of New York, London, Milan, Paris and Toronto—In fact, it’s time for them to take front and centre. While shoppers everywhere are snapping up the best of the selling floor’s offerings for spring and summer, designers, buyers and editors alike are busy prepping ahead. And since we know y’all like to keep ahead of the curve, we’ve sorted through hundreds of photos and selected 10 of the top Fall 2013 trends so that you can mentally prep (and save) too!
Next season, it’s all about fur, which landed in both faux and real on runways including Marni, JW Anderson, and most strikingly at Fendi, where it was combined in a dizzying multitude of punky ways. The 1990s were back for another resurgence, continuing Spring 2013’s grunge trend at Saint Laurent in Paris and Chloé Comme Parris right here at home. On the street, the look was easily created by many fashion week attendees who layered plaids on waists, under jackets and even on tights. And while practically speaking, it may be no major surprise that outerwear was one of the top Fall 2013 trends, this show season we saw jackets take on new forms with quilting, oversized shapes and bold colours which were mirrored outside the shows, with equally interesting choices hitting the pavement
Here are 100 images to help jog your memory of the top Fall 2013 trends spotted inside and outside of the fashion week stents, so sit back, click through, and relive the fashion month in all its street style and runway glory.

Lucian Matis Fall 2013: 33 monochromatic looks that breathe new life into the big and boxy silhouette
See the Lucian Matis Fall 2013 collection »
Fashion is in Lucian Matis’s blood. His mother owned a fashion company in his native Romania, where he worked from a young age. “You didn’t even know fashion designers back home in Romania,” he once said. “You didn’t have this ‘job’.” But here in Canada, Matis has embraced the role whole-heartedly in a modest, but business savvy way. There was the appearance on Project Runway Canada, the diffusion line, Matis by Lucian Matis (which showed at the tents), and he’s alluded to further brand extensions. Friday night, however, brought a wide variety of fans, media and starlets for an extremely organized showing of the Lucian Matis Fall 2013 collection off-site at 1 King West.
To start, he sent a black full-length ball gown floating down the winding runway, the skirt over-laden with broken glass from bottles supplied by show sponsor Bailey’s. The chandelier-like embellishment jingled as it brushed past your feet, lulling the audience to attention like prayer bells in a church. Last year an ordering snafu jeopardized Matis’s tropical Spring 2013 collection, so you can’t blame him for producing a “Monochromatic Fantasy” for fall. The colours in black, grey and ivory were paired with hits of fur, felt, wool, and silk. In a post-show release Matis said this season he chose to focus on the simplicity of the silhouette: “I could emphasize the shape of the garments from an architectural methodology with boxy geometric shapes.” Sleek floor length ivory skirts paired with matching turtlenecks, an attractive ruffle-butterfly top, pantsuits in Banker grey, and leather raglan dress-sleeve combinations made for an understated and exceedingly pretty fantasy, indeed.

Street Style, Toronto: 30 photos of cute models, bad-ass statement T-shirts and more outside fashion week

The finish line of World MasterCard Fashion Week Fall 2013 may officially be tonight but our street style photos stop here (sad face). To finish it off, our photographer Stefania Yarhi worked her magic (as per usual) to bring us some stellar shots of graphics, bold patterns and even a 90210 star!
Yesterday, florals were all the rage but today’s all about leopard print. The print was seen on oversized bags, logo-sweatshirts, added layers and the trend was rounded out with a literal tiger face on Andrea Beechey’s clutch. Me-ow.

Vawk Fall 2013: 22 luxury looks that take Canadian craftsmanship to the next level

When we were first introduced to Sunny Fong on Project Runway Canada, it was clear that his talent extended far beyond reality TV stardom. His exquisite tailoring and attention to detail has made VAWK, his luxury ready-to-wear label, one of the highlights of Toronto Fashion Week. For Fall 2013, Fong focused on what he does best; namely simple, minimalist designs which resulted in a refined and surprisingly wearable collection.
Titled “Nordic Fauna,” VAWK’s Fall 2013 collection was inspired by the clean lines of Scandinavian interior design as well as classic winter hunting attire. An introductory video showing a series of images of the bleak yet strangely beautiful wintertime forests set the stage for what was to be an incredible display of minimalism with a unique Canadian touch. The collection kept with VAWK’s signature neutral colour palette and sexy form-fitting dresses, but stayed away from 1980s Madonna-inspired looks of Spring 2013. What was left was exquisitely crafted clothes that women all over the world would be happy to wear.

Street Style, Toronto: 28 photos of fashion week attendees embracing colour on the first day of spring
See our street style photos from Toronto Fashion Week Fall 2013 »
And on the third day of World MasterCard Fashion Week Fall 2013, show goers said, “Let there be colour! And florals! And studs!” (Or so we imagine.) The pavement was alive yesterday outside of the fashion tents and as predicted, everybody upped their game.
The pantsuit edged its way off of the runway and into the Toronto streets as we saw one gal wearing a hot pink version topped off with a leather jacket slung over her shoulders and a Lucite clutch. A+ for her look! And it’s safe to say our Style Panelist, Mo Handahu, doesn’t fear colour whatsoever because we spotted her in multiple bright floral patterns mixed together and finished off with purple clutch.

Sid Neigum Fall 2013: The king of colourless cool experiments with florals and mossy greens at fashion week
See all the looks from Sid Neigum’s Fall 2013 collection »
The king of colourless cool, Sid Neigum, had a couple of surprises up his sleeves last night for his Fall 2013 show at World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto. Known for collections that leave hues and prints out of the equation, Neigum tossed inverse florals and mossy emerald green prints into the mix to re-imagine his motto for fall.
As a cellist played live, models walked slowly, while sporting sky-high warrior-meets-Whoville hairdos and oversized knit dresses, geometric boxy pantsuits and printed trousers. The collection kept viewers guessing as the colour scheme and prints slowly shifted from white to black to emerald green.
