New York Fashion Week backstage beauty: 57 pictures of the best manicures and nail art from the Spring 2014 shows
See the Spring 2014 nail art looks up close »
The nails at New York Fashion Week were right in tune with the ’90s minimalism style we saw on the Spring 2014 runways. Sheer is in, colour is out and the nail art trend seems to be winding down. The bare and buffed nails of last spring are still going strong for 2014, with designers like Altuzarra, Alexander Wang and Jeremy Laing opting for pale shades of pink, lavender or beige instead of punchy pastels and neon brights.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style: Ombrés, logo tees and an Advanced Style muse outside the first day of shows
New York Fashion Week officially kicked off the Spring 2013 show season yesterday with a full day of fashion shows around town. As shows from BCBG Max Azria, Tadashi Shoji and home-grown label Kaelen took place inside Lincoln Center, our street style photographer extraordinaire Stefania Yarhi was busy snapping Advanced Style favourite Rita Hammer in her signature circular glasses, PR dynamo Kelly Cutrone in head-to-toe black and gussied up Nylon editor Michelle Reneau sporting new bangs. While the A-list scooted inside, Yarhi snapped an awesome gent in the most awesome red suit (the red hat!) and even a little baby fashion show attendee. (Diaper changes are the new street style shtick.)

NYFW diary: A flurry of Suno, Jason Wu, Doo.Ri, Costello Tagliapietra, and whizzing ambulances
After a backstage emergency that had ambulances whizzing to the scene (talk about added drama), the Suno show at Milk Studios got underway almost an hour after its scheduled 8 p.m. time slot last night, but the duo’s loyal followers didn’t seem to mind, packing the studio to the rafters. Suno is known for their far-and-away inspirations, and while they had plenty of Rajasthani prints and Asian detailing, the collection on the whole was decidedly more June Cleaver than jet setter, with plenty of peplums, florals, and plaid apron-style smocks paired ironically with menswear-inspired dress shirts. And speaking of peplums, they’re everywhere!
