It’s a little ironic that Pantone named 2019’s colour of the year Living Coral. We’ve got scientists practically blue in the face, on the verge of shooting flare guns, trying to warn us about climate change, ocean pollution and dying reefs. Meanwhile as we look forward to the future, Living Coral is what we’re being told […]

15 Holiday Nail Polishes That Aren’t Red
Yes Virginia, it is possible to have festive nails without resorting to predictable red. For editorial manicurist Madeline Poole, the best alternative is anything that glitters. “Try a slight sheer sparkle or shimmer,” she says. Poole—who is Global Colour Ambassador of Sally Hansen—suggests a festive silver option from the brand called ‘Make it N-ice’. “It […]

Our Definitive Guide to Winter Lip Care From Balms to Oils
A couple of years ago, I was about to take off on a 15 hour flight from Toronto to Hong Kong. While sitting in the window seat, I tried (as usual) to ignore the fact that I’m a terrible flyer. As the plane doors closed, however, I suddenly realized I had another problem. You know the […]

What can I use on my dry ends that won’t weigh my fine hair down?
Because there are so many hair oils on the market, each with its own special consistency and blend, it can be a bit of a task to find what works best with your hair, especially if it’s fine. It’s also important to use hair oil sparingly, starting with a small amount and adding more only if necessary. Drybar 100 Proof Treatment Oil ($35, sephora.ca) provides dry ends with a dose of omega fatty acids thanks to Kalahari melon seed oil in a lightweight texture that absorbs quickly. The pump of this hair oil dispenses a small amount with each press, allowing you total control over how much you use—which is handy since a little goes a very long way. -

The bare and buffed nails of last spring are still going strong for 2014, with designers like Altuzarra, Alexander Wang and Jeremy Laing opting for pale shades of pink, lavender or beige instead of punchy pastels and neon brights.
