The best celebrity cat eyes: 15 feline-inspired looks that are seriously envy-inducing
See the best celebrity cat eye inspiration »
In the beauty world, there are a handful of trends that we never seem to get tired of—a good cat eye being one of them. Because it’s such a versatile and fresh look, we often forget that it’s been around for ages. Think Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot. Heck, Cleopatra was rocking this look back in Ancient Egypt.
There is no doubt that a cat eye can instantly amp up the glam factor of your look with nothing more than a simple flick, taking you from everyday and natural to sexy in a matter of seconds. However, it’s definitely one technique that is not easy to master and can easily discourage those with shaky hands. Thankfully, the beauty gods have heard our prayers and drawing the feline flick is easier than ever, thanks to brands who carry eyeliners that pretty much do all the work for you (from gels to liquids and even cool combos of both) and beauty blogger tips (including our Beauty Panel!) that help make the process a less daunting. Still haven’t convinced you? We’ve got just the trick. Flip through this celebrity cat eye gallery for the encouragement you need. From girl-next-door Jennifer Lawrence to rock icon Gwen Stefani, we know there’s a cat eye for you.

A guide to cultural appropriation: Why Native headdresses are offensive and when to skip the trend
In today’s hyper-globalized world, the sharing, discovery and, hopefully, education of various traditions from around the globe is being made even easier. From food to music to holidays (who else dove into a margarita during Cinco de Mayo?) we’re all borrowing from each other. But how far is too far? When does appreciation of a […]

Introducing Gwen Stefani by OPI: From Swarovski nail art to a new mirror-finish polish, all the details on this collab
See all the Gwen Stefani by OPI nail polish shades »
When we think of Gwen Stefani’s signature style a few things come to mind: platinum hair, a midriff-baring top and, of course, red lips! Now, thanks to OPI, the musician’s covetable style is being bottled up for an exclusive nail polish collaboration. The seven-piece Gwen Stefani by OPI collection will hit shelves in January 2014 and features a number of finishes that are new to OPI, as well as a super-exclusive nail art set.
“Over & Over A-Gwen”—a luscious red that no doubt took inspiration from Stefani’s go-to lipstick shade—will be paired with Swarovski black crystals and metallic studs in a boxed set that’s sure to be on every nail art fan’s must-have list. (Even better, it will sell for less than $20!) As for the new polish finishes, “Push and Shove” may just rival the nail art in terms of flashiness. It’s a chrome polish with a mirror-like finish, but unlike other chrome polishes, “Push and Shove” requires a special base coat (named “Lay Down That Base”) to ensure maximum reflection. We cannot wait to see swatches of this high-shine colour in action.

Met Gala 2013: The 25 best dressed on fashion’s most important red carpet
See the Met Gala 2013 red carpet photos »
The build up to this year’s Met Gala has been major. Designers, celebrities and the fashion elite have been scrambling to piece together a look that fits the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s theme, PUNK: Chaos to Couture and while admittedly, the punk-inspired looks were few and far between, we were certainly thrilled with a few.
Channeling her own recent V Magazine cover, Miley Cyrus went latter day Debbie Harry with platinum blonde spikes and a long fishnet Marc Jacobs dress. Anne Hathaway debuted a similarly bleached bob alongside her date and dresser for the night, Valentino Garavani, sending the twittersphere in a tizzy.
Co-chairs of the event Riccardo Tisci and Rooney Mara went punk-light with Mara in a beautifully detailed white lace Givenchy dress and a pop of crimson on the lips.
Also wearing Givenchy was none other than Beyoncé—the honourary chairperson for this year’s event. Pairing her custom-designed strapless black and gold printed gown with blinged out boots in the same shade, Queen Bey proved for her second year in a row that last on the red carpet is always best.
After finally receiving the Anna Wintour nod of approval, Kim Kardashian made an appearance at the Met Gala 2013 in a floral-print Givenchy dress with baby-daddy, Kanye West at her side.
Someone who is more known for consistently nailing red carpet looks than Kimye, is Emma Watson and she hit a high note yet again in a skin-bearing Prabal Gurung dress with a single silver drop earring hanging from her left ear.
And while Kristen Stewart has held fast to her role as the face of Balenciaga’s Florabotanica, she strayed from the house’s new wears, opting instead, for a crimson Stella McCartney pantsuit.
So who was the best dressed at the Met Gala 2013? Vote in our poll!

Paging Gwen Stefani: Braces have officially become a trend
Braces. The mere word conjures up cringe-worthy memories of adolescent awkwardness and dorky grins at best and mortifying bloody kisses at worst. Having a mouthful of metal isn’t really something you’d associate with cool, right? Except now it is, according to the New York Daily News.
The latest fashion trend in Southeast Asia, buying braces on the black market—particularly in a rainbow of colours and designs, like Hello Kitty and Mickey Mouse—is to teenagers in Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia what wearing neon jelly bracelets were to Western teenage girls in the ‘80s (don’t front like you didn’t): Ya gotta have ‘em. The newest It thing a, braces are a major signifier of wealth, status and style (given that genuine braces are quite expensive, if you’ve been blessed with a temporary silver set of teeth jewellery, you obviously come from money).

The 10 craziest moments from Grimes’ new crazy ass video
Grimes’ epic self-directed video for “Genesis,” the latest single off her critically lauded album Visions, was exactly what you’d expect from the Montreal-based pop star simply because it’s so unexpected. Like the inimitable mélange that goes into her music (Mariah Carey, Drake and Nine Inch Nails are all top influences), this McGill-student-turned-underground-DJ threw everything but the kitchen sink into the five and a half minute long clip. Whether it’s Xena: Princess Warrior nods or echoes of The Spice Girls dancing in the desert for “Say You’ll Be There,” the sheer randomness of the whole video is what makes it work.
