Boxing Day: a day of rest, relaxation, spending time with family, digesting your delicious dinner from the night before. Or, if you’re like us, shopping all of the deals (we’ll take a sale over rest any day)! So if you’re planning on joining us in braving the Boxing Day 2012 crowds on December 26, you’ll need a game plan, as it can be overwhelming just thinking of all the deals and promotions on offer. Thus, we are here to help you out, with a constantly updated roundup of all the sales in the city we can find. You’re welcome. BEGIN.

Plippity-ploppity goes the rain, and pippity-poppity goes the shopping. This weekend, when we’re not watching designer-clad athletes dodge raindrops in London, we’re checking out temporary shops across the country. Popping up in unlikely locales, get your wardrobe fix everywhere from frescoed-in-spray-paint back alleys to restaurants best known for their house-music brunch service. But who wants house music when you have the latest band from Edmonton on your Rdio?

In what’s sure to be one of the biggest shopping events of the season, Rac Boutique is curating a one-stop pop-up shop (say that 10 times fast), The Bazaar at 580 King St. W. The four-day shopping collaboration will feature men’s and women’s items—everything from vintage to designer consignment to sample sales—from some of our favourite Toronto retailers including Dalston Grey, Robber, Jacflash and Rita Liefhebber. It all kicks off with a (totally free) launch party on April 5. With DJ Brendan Canning (of Broken Social Scene fame) and enough cocktails to keep Carrie Bradshaw happy, we’re definitely marking this one on our calendar.

We know the holiday season has begun once the winter issue comes out, and once our inboxes fill up with emails inviting us to holiday parties, pop-ups, and sales. We’ve gone through them all (and checked the list twice!) to give you a collection of December’s best holiday sales. Put on your mittens and make the trek out to your favourite shops and markets, Canadian gals—you’ll save a bundle on gift buying, so you can buy yourself an early holiday treat.

This unusual spherical locket by Brooklyn designer Lillian Crowe is antique-y and charming, and it’s being stocked at one of my favourite shops in Toronto, Robber (863 Queen St. W., 647-351-0724, robberstore.wordpress.com).
