  • Paris: September 27 and 28

It’s blazing Indian summer in Paris, which poses a bit of a problem because the collections kicked off here this weekend.   But even a rare sunny day couldn’t keep me away from the Palais de Tokyo, Paris’s contemporary art happening space, where Gareth Pugh posed a series of neon poles for a futuristic show of light and dark with razor sharp tailored armor.

Sitting here anticipating the start of Dolce & Gabbana, one of the surefire highlights of the week—I secretly love the wait—it’s the same each season and I’ve come to relish the scene. In a few minutes J.Lo, Rihanna and Matthew McConaughey will have the paparazzi flashbulbs going wild.

Well here’s something I never thought I’d say: I loved the turquoise eyeshadow at Gucci! There’s something about the way the girls always look at a Gucci show, every single season, without fail. The makeup is super glossy gorgeousness and the hair is always bouncin’ and behavin’. Makes you want to be a Gucci girl. Or at least own the company, because all I can say after tonight’s show is ca-ching ca-ching!! Sitting front row and looking majorly svelte was Rihanna.

Waiting for a Prada show to begin is always an electrifying experience. First there’s the mad crush at the door, next, the confused scramble through a maze of seating, followed by the whispered buzz about what Mrs. Prada, as her staff lovingly call her, is about to show.  Trust me: You can guess all you want, you will never get it right!

It’s a gorgeous, sunny day in Milan today as eds from all camps   trudge from show to showroom in the uniform du jour—the  shortest skirt or dress and the longest, leanest   legs you’ve ever seen this side of a runway. Bare, tanned, and made to look even longer and leaner by way of the “sandal boot”  (don’t even try to call it a shoe) that’s somewhere  between a heavy duty, open toe, cut-out ankle boot and a leg-wrapping  gladiator sandal. A fierce, fabulous hybrid with a tough, dominatrix edge, it has totally eclipsed the bag as the numero uno front-row accessory.

So far shoes on the runway have been big honkin’ platform wedges, but the week has just begun. Talk to me after Wednesday, shoe day in Milano!

I’m here! Landed this morning and literally hit the ground running. Wish I could say the same for my suitcase, which obviously thought this week was Paris Fashion Week and ditched me for the City of Lights.

I write this from the back of the number 70 bus, my trusted shuttle service this week for the daily back-and-forth from my West End flat to London Fashion Week’s HQ in South Kensington. It’s the last day of shows today, three to go and counting!

Caught up in a delayed tube line, a maddeningly late bus and typically congested Oxford Street traffic to start, I found myself on a foreign block in Bloomsbury dashing down cobblestone roads in croc platform heels, frantically searching for “The Dairy,” site of Erdem’s Spring 2009 show.

Day three, and the skies are still looking friendly. That should be some kind of rain record for this city, no? Word on the street says it’s going to last all week. Hurray! That means bare legs, minis and towering stilettos will stay out in full force for the rest of Fashion Week.

The best part of day two was at 8:30 p.m. when a Beatle sang in my ear. Now I know Sir Paul McCartney doesn’t normally fit on a fashion blog but when one of the world’s most legendary musicians is standing right beside you at his daughter’s charity auction that’s something to write about!

In a toast to my adopted homeland, I’m writing my first London Fashion Week blog with a cup of English Breakfast tea in hand. After an exhausting first day running from South to North to Central London, I’m ready to tuck in with or without the traditional crumpet and jam.

The day started beautifully: I sneaked out early from the People’s Revolution/Hint mag party in Tribeca, completely cocktail free! Woke up early enough to have a quick work out and a coffee and arrived at Ralph Lauren as fresh as a daisy. Not bad for the last day of fashion week (although I have showroom appointments on Sat and Sun).
