Storm? What storm? If these street style photos from the last few days at New York Fashion week were any indication, Snowmageddon was but a blip on the Fall 2013 show season radar. Despite a record-breaking snowfall (ahem, have you seen the Long Island Expressway?), the fashion flock was rearing to go.
Whereas fur is typically the go to for cold weather fashion weeks (and was worn well by Joanna Hillman and Shala Monroque), it seemed there was a new motto this weekend: tailoring. Peacoats, riding coats, double-breasted wool coats and raincoats were largely favoured this weekend, with everyone from Miroslava Duma to Taylor Tomasi Hill diving in. Outside Friday and Saturday’s shows, Man Repeller Leandra Medine showcased two very different layered looks—a way oversized peacoat layered over jeans, a baggy blue jean button down and heeled white loafers on Friday, and a worn out motorcycle jacket overtop a loose flannel shirt, light boyfriend jeans and black suede booties on Saturday—both worn avec toques with enviable flops.
