Lana Del Rey updates her ’60s style with Jane Birkin-esque bangs

Photography by Simon James/FilmMagic Lana Del Rey has become somewhat of a ’60s hairstyle chameleon. Whether it’s an oversized bouffant, tight curls or brushed-out waves the singer loves to experiment with her style—though always keeping it in the same decade. And now, Lana Dey Rey has added a dark-brown set of bangs to her look.
While promoting her newest album “Born To Die: The Paradise Edition” in London, the singer altered her perfectly coiffed waves with a new set of bangs, giving a Jane Birkin-esque vibe to her hairstyle. At first we thought they were a clip-in set, but the split in the middle proves that they are indeed authentic. (New bangs always annoyingly refuse to adjust their part.)

Miley’s gone blonde and Taylor’s now brunette! Which new dye job do you like best?

Left: Image via Twitter/MileyCyrus, Right: Image courtesy Cover Girl In breaking hair colour news, two pop sensations with a love for country have given their locks a serious colour overhaul over the past couple days.
Recently engaged Miley Cyrus tweeted a phone-snapped pic of her new blonde tresses, along with the message “Now that I’m blonde I gotta give duck lips in every photo” (we have no idea what that could possibly mean). The Hannah Montana star also shed a few inches, giving her locks a fresh departure from the long, auburn style she’d been wearing over the past year.

Is Carly Rae Jepsen the new Taylor Swift? We pit the pop princesses against each other on the red carpet!

Left: Carly Rae Jepsen shot by Sonia Recchia/WireImage. Right: Taylor Swift shot by Rick Diamond/ACMA2012/Getty Images for ACM Sunday night saw two pop-princesses’ red carpet looks pitted against each other: country darling Taylor Swift at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas and up-and-comer Carly Rae Jepsen at the Junos in Ottawa. Jepsen’s hit “Call Me Maybe” (it’s literally been stuck in our head for weeks) has poised her as the newest artist to invade Taylor Swift’s sugary-sweet pop territory. And while we can’t declare a winner in the recording studio, we do have some thoughts on their dresses of choice.

Adele vs Lady Sybil, Katy Perry vs Viola Davis! Which award show red carpet had better gowns: The BAFTAs or the Grammys?
Two award shows in one night means double the red-carpet fun! And despite the ocean between the BAFTAs in London and the Grammys in L.A., celebrities worked the carpet in some similar frocks (including an eco gown by Valentino!) But who did five red-carpet trends (think: chic minimalism and cotton candy brights) best—the musical mavens or their actor counterparts? You be the judge!

They said/We said: Kanye West confirms his return to Paris Fashion Week
Ready or not, Kanye West’s PR agency, Karla Otto, has confirmed that his much-talked-about, self-titled collection will be returning to Paris Fashion Week on March 6.
On Sunday, the rapper-turned-designer tweeted, “Pardon me…do you have crepe chiffon?” Yeezy does red carpet? Might be a step in the right direction in comparison to his last production, which has been described as “being subjected to an hour long MRI scan—but not as much fun.”
So what do we know about the line so far? Well, West made clear in his now infamous Twitter rant that the name of his self-funded line is Kanye West and not DW. Also, he’s been working in London and getting some much-needed help from big-time designers but details of the show have been kept under wraps. Here’s hoping for another informative two-hour twitter post to fill in the rest of the blanks.
We have to give it to him for getting back on the horse, but if this collection is another flop we hope it will at least inspire a Taylor Swift–esque tell-all rap song?

They said/We said: Taylor Swift’s Cover Girl ad got banned, but it may not be for what you think

Photography by CoverGirl Taylor Swift is known for her knockout red carpet beauty looks, but today her work for Cover Girl’s Nature Luxe Mousse Mascara is coming under fire for the not-so-natural lashes in the ad’s photo. The National Advertising Division in the U.S. has banned the ad for excessive photoshopping and noted the disclaimer at the bottom of the ad that states Swift’s lashes are “enhanced in post production.” The ban was also based on the ad’s superior performance claims, which claim the mascara will give your lashes “2x more volume” and is “20 per cent lighter” than other mascaras.

Swift never looks out of step on the red carpet—she’s the master of romantic hair and classic makeup. So! What better way to celebrate her birthday than with a rundown of Swift’s best beauty looks? -

Taylor Swift’s sweetheart hair and shimmering makeup at the 2011 BMI Country Awards

Photo by Jason Kempin/Getty Images for BMI See our suggestions for how to get Taylor Swift’s red carpet look »
Confession: We adore Taylor Swift too much to mind that she’s fond of repeating the same hair and makeup at every red carpet event. Hey, we get it—if something works, why change it? At last night’s 2011 BMI Country Awards, however, Swift did slightly switch up her typical winged-eye-and-bright-lips look, by adding a warmer shimmer to her eye makeup and skipping the red lips for a muted pink-plum shade instead. (Don’t the colours complement her purple sequin Emilio Pucci mini-dress perfectly?) Swift’s curls are also more relaxed than we’ve seen before, but still styled in her classic one-sided wave. This is definitely a look worth copying for upcoming holiday parties.
