TIFF party pics: Pierre Bergé and YSL muses Loulou de la Falaise and Betty Catroux at the premiere of L’amour fou
It is a rare occasion indeed for Torontonians to rub shoulders with a fashion titan like Yves Saint Laurent‘s longtime partner, and co-ounder of YSL Rive Gauche, Pierre Bergé. But rub shoulders they did–an elite group, anyway–at the after party for the world premiere of Pierre Thoretton‘s documentary, L’amour fou. The film, which traces Saint Laurent’s career through the lens of his relationship with Bergé, and the ultimate auctioning off of their collection of art, furniture and objets, features extensive conversations with Bergé, as well as talks with the designer’s muses Loulou de la Falaise and Betty Catroux, who were staples on the Paris fashion scene.

TIFF party pics: Martin Sheen shows us his underwear and Paul Haggis kisses Josh Brolin
Seeing jokester Paul Haggis kissing Josh Brolin is almost too good to be true. Seeing this the same evening as Martin Sheen showing cameras his underwear just isn’t fair.
The red carpet at the the Artists for Peace and Justice Fundraiser for Haiti event last night at the Toro After Dark space was, without a doubt, the most fun step and repeat in the city. Haggis turned to Brolin to give him a big smoocher on the mouth, which was followed by Brolin exclaiming, “that’s it, my career is OVER!”
This was probably the second best moment of the evening, which was promptly followed by Martin Sheen being encouraged to show us his Ellen Degeneres-gifted briefs–in exchange for a $1,000 donation to Haiti. To his publicist’s utter chagrin (who, for the record, was somewhat like a real life Lloyd from Entourage) he turned around, undid belt, dropped a bit of trou, turned back and showed us those briefs. But it’s for a good cause right?

TIFF party pics: Entourage‘s Jonathan Keltz wears his beer pong shirt to the Hello! Canada party
Gossip mag Hello! Canada rolled out the red carpet to let party attendees (mainly Canuck talent) play with reporters. We talked wardrobe with Noah Reid (Score: A Hockey Musical), Natalie Brown and Jonathan Keltz (Entourage). To see who was wearing a homemade dress, a beer pong T-shirt and a shirt borrowed from his dad’s closet, […]

TIFF party pics: Emily Hampshire, Rachel Blanchard, and Juliette Lewis in emerald Dolce at the Alliance bash
Last night Alliance hosted a bash for Toronto industry insiders and visiting talent to sling back a couple of cocktails under the shadow of the appropriately shiny Scotia Bank tower.
Who did we see? There were rumours of Clive Owen and David Schwimmer, but alas, no. We did however get Juliette Lewis, who’s in town supporting Conviction with Hilary Swank. You could tell she was there as an actress, rather than rock star by her teeny tiny emerald green Dolce & Gabbana. She gushed to red carpet reporters about loving TIFF for how laid back it is. Yeah, we get that a lot.

TIFF party pics: We talk accessories with actress Emily Hampshire at the RED party
It was a big night for Canada. In one part of town, cliché-spitting Canadiana pirouetted on the ice at the premiere of Score: A Hockey Musical. Meanwhile a little uptown, the regiment of well-heeled Canucks congregated for a quieter–but equally proud–celebration of Canadian imagery for RED, a preview exhibition of twelve images from the New York Times Canadian Photo Archive.
Caitlin Cronenberg, photographer and daughter of film auteur David Cronenberg, made her curatorial debut for the exhibit, which was held at the Toro After Dark space. The daunting task required Cronenberg to look through thousands of archive photographs to select twelve to display. The younger Cronenberg based her decisions on emotional response and the stories they tell. “These photos are news stories and it’s the stories that make them special,” she said.
