Backstage at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, Kanye West continues to go places where he’s not needed
Going backstage at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show is likely on every guy’s fantasy to do list. In reality, the Angels/models are actually in more clothing backstage than they are on the runway, and sorry to disappoint, but they’re too busy with hair and makeup to engage in any frivolous antics. However, this didn’t stop Kanye West. While going through a collection of backstage pics, we couldn’t help but notice his presence among Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio, Joan Smalls, and the other Angels. After all, the only other males backstage were those working the show, making Kanye’s picture posing stand out even more.

Quotable: Karlie Kloss thinks that being a Victoria’s Secret model is the trick to not gaining any weight during pregnancy
One of the biggest headlines surrounding this week’s Victoria’s Secret show was the runway debut of 19-year-old model Karlie Kloss. While talking to Fashionista before the show, Kloss admitted her young age was an advantage in terms of pre-show prep—but she also thinks the older Angels are rewarded with a pregnancy secret that she wants […]

SNP’s word of the day: Callipygian
Word: Callipygian
Meaning: Having beautiful buttocks. No, really. It’s from the Greek kallipygos, from kalli- + pyg? Buttocks.
Usage: “Those dusky Afro-Scandinavian buttocks, which combine the callipygian rondure observed among the races of the Dark Continent with the taut and noble musculature of sturdy Olaf, our blond Northern cousin.” — Thomas Pynchon, Gravity’s Rainbow

SNP’s word of the day: Seraph
Word: Seraph
Meaning: Literally “burning ones,” and refers to six-winged celestial beings in the Bible, which circled the throne, or something.
Usage: “Maidens like moths, are ever caught by glare, and Mammon wins his way where seraphs might despair” — Lord Byron

They said/We said: Want to look like a Victoria’s Secret Angel? Adriana Lima shares her intense diet leading up to the annual show
The question of what or even whether models eat is nothing new and when asked, models usually give the standard answer, “anything I want,” and are sure to mention pizza or burgers. So it’s (kind of) refreshing that Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima has been so blunt when talking about her diet leading up to the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airing on November 29.
Millions watch the angels walk the coveted runway wearing barely there lingerie, so it’s not surprising that Lima has been working with a trainer since August (she’s since increased her workouts to twice a day). During her training a nutritionist also prescribes the right protein shakes, vitamins, and supplements to keep her energy up and Lima will drink a gallon of water a day. Nine days before the show, Lima will only drink protein shakes that include powdered eggs (yum). Two days before the show she’ll drink “normally” instead of a gallon of water and, finally, 12 hours before the show she’ll stop drinking all together.
The intense diet matches the over-the-top show that Victoria’s Secret puts on every year. While all of the angels look amazing, we’re not sure we’re ready to give up solid food for powdered eggs.

6 fun and functional underwear styles to enjoy before dusting off the thermal long johns
Knickers. Skivvies. Gotch. Unmentionables. No matter what you call them, odds are you wear them. Most of us wear underwear for practical reasons. After all, no one likes a breeze where the sun don’t shine. But as the sun shines less and less, and Autumn sneaks up on the sly, take advantage of these last […]

October 2011: Letter from the editor
“You’re a smart girl. You don’t need to work in fashion.”
The white-haired retiree uttering those words to a wide-eyed MBA grad who expressed interest in the clothing industry was oblivious to the fact that I was reeling from his remark.
Nor did anyone else around the breakfast table at a friend’s cottage twig to the fact that I had just been insulted. At one time, I would have piped up and suggested he ask billionaire Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH, whether he thinks there is any upside to a brilliant business mind in fashion.
