With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, there’s no better a time to treat yourself and change up your beauty routine. If cold weather automatically equals itchy, dry skin and flyaway hair, you’re not alone. There’s nothing quite like a blast of cold air (for five months straight, that is) to make us realize just how much care our skin and hair actually need. Suddenly the idea of layering on as many moisturizers and serums as possible doesn’t seem crazy. Deep conditioners go from being a weekly treat to a daily necessity. And if there was an award for hoarding hand creams, we would certainly win it this time of year.

I have extremely fair skin and I find that foundations always look orange. How can I get a better match?
Fair skin can be the toughest to find a makeup match for—mostly because many are not quite pink enough and overload on orange tones, but also because alabaster skin can be temperamental. Pale complexions are extra sensitive to the sun, so you should consider using a prep product with superior protection before you apply foundation.

Olivia Wilde cut quite a few inches off her hair during the holidays and debuted the new style—complete with ombré highlights—this weekend at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. It’s easy to see why the ombré trend is one that won’t go away anytime soon: done right, it’s always flattering. Wilde looks undoubtedly modern and fresh, and her caramel-coloured strands add another layer of dimension to her already glossy, textured hair. Best of all, the look allows her two-tone smoky eye makeup to really stand out.
