Some lunchtime viewing: Karl Lagerfeld sat down with Imran Amed of the blog the Business of Fashion and talked luxury, exclusivity and technology. “I think they are very beautiful objects,” said Lagerfeld. “There is no touch of what is considered bad taste or bad design is bad taste today. Marc Jacobs, who recently posed nude for the campaign of his latest men’s fragrance Bang, explained the process in an interview with Calvin Klein. “There’s nothing I can wear in this ad that isn’t going to look ridiculous. At one point, I tried jeans and a shirt, and it didn’t work. So then Juergen said, ‘Take off the clothes.’ So I did, and that became the ad…I did feel good about the way I looked, so it was easy and—well, a guy looks better to me with no clothes on than with clothes!” [Harper’s Bazaar]

Hermès has taken a hint from Burberry‘s Art of the Trench campaign. The French fashion house has just unveiled its J’aime mon carré project, which celebrates the iconic Hermes scarf. The new Lanvin freestanding store in New York–which, with fox fur benches and chandeliers sounds like an absolute retail reverie–officially postponed its opening because of electricity failures, but some well-to-do New Yorkers were allowed to shop by candlelight. [Racked]

Karl Lagerfeld has just released another short film featuring Dree Hemmingway and Abbey Lee taking a breather after a Chanel spree, hence the film’s title Shopping Fever. The news on everyone’s lips right now is the break up between Hermès and Jean Paul Gaultier.  JPG is set to part ways with the fashion house after he presents his last collection for Spring 2011. Parisian designer and creative director of Lacoste, Christophe Lemaire, will be taking his place. [WWD]

The inevitable step has been taken to replace the late Alexander McQueen as creative director for his eponymous line. Sarah Burton, who’s worked by his side for more than 12 years will step up, and has promised to “stay true to [McQueen’s] legacy.” [The Cut]

When it comes to fashion’s item, we can all breathe a sigh of relief: Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone are still a couple. Rumours were rampant of a break up, but the two recently attended tattoo artist Scott Campbell’s art show opening beaming, hand-in-hand. “They were talking about coming in and getting something together,” said Campbell of the duo.
