Though it seems like an unlikely pairing at first, Lost’s Jorge Garcia and Christie Brinkley work out, make nachos and generally live the good life together in the pages of Vogue Deutsch. Of the pairing, photographer Bruce Weber says: “Christie is the ultimate California beach girl and Jorge is the ultimate hippie.” So they both have the less-is-more, beach bum thing going on. Seems that Emanuel Ungaro himself agrees with the rest of the world that Lindsay Lohan’s debut collection for his fashion house was disastrous. Are we susprised? Ungaro, who sold the company in 2005, said, “I am furious but I can’t do anything about it.” Going on, the designer lamented that his fashion house “is in the process of losing its soul.” [The Cut]

Lucian Matis has been named the winner of the first FDCC Designer Development Fund award. The fund will be awarded annually in support of Canadian fashion designers who demonstrate potential for growth. A business mentorship with FDCC prez Robin Kay is part of the prize. “We want to extend the potential to build their brand and assist the designers with the necessary tools to help them emerge nationally and internationally in this new economy,” says Kay. Georgia May Jagger will join Coco Rocha as the two new faces of Rimmel London’s campaign starting in 2010. [The Cut]

This week’s New York Magazine has named Anna Wintour one of the 12 most powerful New Yorkers. This news didn’t come as too shocking, but more confusing is the fact that the Vogue powerhouse is the sole woman to make the list. [The Cut]

Morning sickness didn’t stop a very pregnant Jourdan Dunn from walking the runway for Jean Paul Gaultier. The glowing model wore a padded cone bra with matching maternity plate, looking like a Roman soldier in her first catwalk appearance at the spring shows. [Fashionologie]

Heidi Klum is changing her last name to match her husband’s. Seal may be known to us solely by his first name, but the singer’s entire name is Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adelo Samuel. Heidi is opting for Samuel as her new surname. We don’t love it as much as Klum, but as long as she doesn’t change her killer legs, we’ll just have to deal. [TMZ, via Jezebel]

Estée Lauder has announced they are closing their Prescriptives brand after 30 years. Fabrizio Freda, President and Chief Executive Officer of the company said, “We believe that the difficult decision relating to Prescriptives will allow us to redirect our resources to key strategic imperatives where we see the highest growth potential.” [WWD]

The Sundance Channel’s series The Day Before, which chronicles the 48 hours before the Fall 2009 shows for Proenza Schouler, Jean Paul Gaultier, Sonia Rykiel, Fendi, premiere tomorrow, but clips are out. While we have a life-long fascination with all things Karl Lagerfeld, our favourite clips are with Gaultier, who gives a charming tour of Paris from the rooftop of his studio. 

We never tire of seeing behind-the-scenes candy like this. Karl sketching, assistants aging headbands with cobblestones and close-ups of all the beautifully crafted clothes.

Though the company won’t to comment, rumours are zipping around that Hermès may lose it’s creative director, Jean Paul Gaultier. The designer is said to be stepping down after a profitable and critically-lauded six-year run–the Spring 2010 show in Paris this October could be his last. I suppose there could be worse jobs in the world than to have to start your day with a tour through the über-chic Roger Vivier showroom to get a sneak peek at fall’s treats. “Catherine” (as in Deneuve) asked Bruno (as in Frisoni, the Vivier designer) for a new ballet flat,” the PR rep tells me, “so he made her one!” (Hint: it has a pointy-toe with a slight platform). A deck of cards is the theme for the season, and I don’t want to give to much away, but I really heart it in spades.

Long-ago Lagerfeld muse Inès de la Fressange takes the catwalk at Jean Paul Gaultier (and apparently there was wrestling involved.) We’re sure the sure the Kaiser isn’t too upset. [WSJ]
