Who would you crown Queen of Cannes? Our 5 best dressed on the red carpet
See the complete Cannes 2014 red carpet »
After nearly three full weeks of glitz and glamour, the 67th Annual Cannes International Film Festival is sadly over, cold turkey. If you, like us, are struggling through day one sans Cannes, fear not because we have just the thing to combat glamour withdrawal. In the spirit of festival competition, and an attempt to fill that Cannes-shaped hole in your heart, may we present, Queen of Cannes: A fashion roundup.
Five fashion powerhouses stood out amongst the plethora of worthy candidates at this year’s festival. Off the Richter web buzz ensued over Blake Lively’s style during the festival. From the burgundy Gucci Premiere dress she wore to the festival’s opening ceremony to the black and white gown she wore to the premiere of The Captive, Lively proved she could hold her own as the (potential) Queen of Cannes. Also showing off her fashion queen qualifications, Cate Blanchett never fails to amaze us in the sartorial department from channeling her inner déesse in a champagne-toned Giorgio Armani Privé form-fitting lace gown to working a bedazzled Givenchy couture dress. While Jennifer Lawrence was back to stunning us in Dior Couture ensembles, Jessica Chastain experimented with bold-coloured gowns that naturally blew us away. But if we were to call out one A-list who arguably wore the most unique dress of the entire festival, it would have to be Marion Cotillard. The cinema darling donned a Maison Martin Margiela Couture dress encrusted with tiny random objects like screws and bits of beer cans. All of the curious sequins were found at flea markets in Brussels and Paris, and the unusual dress took 67 hours to create.

The amfAR gala, largely considered a social highpoint of the Cannes Film Festival, consisted of a Red themed, Marilyn Monroe inspired fashion show extravaganza! The term “extravaganza” may seem a bit over the top, but so is this event.
The show, now in it’s eleventh year, featured one-of-a-kind pieces from 35 of the top fashion houses (Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Tom Ford, Givenchy just to name a few) with nearly 40 models working the runway in the one-off couture gowns. The dresses are subsequently auctioned off to raise money for AIDS research. Last year the gowns raised a whopping $2 million dollars.

Celebrity #TBT: 15 of the best Instagram throwbacks ever
See the best celebrity #TBT Instagram photos »
It’s #ThrowbackThursday a.k.a. the day people can freely post embarrassing photos of their childhood on Instagram and not be scrutinized for it (we can hope). While mere mortals like us love to share those awkward family portraits and questionable childhood hair cuts with our friends and family, they don’t quite insight the kind of feverish double tapping effect.
While we’re suckers for the adorable childhood photos, we can’t help but love it when celebrities make us reminisce memorable fashion moments. Sharing everything from their first fashion campaigns to magazine covers to some sister bonding snapshots to stop family drama rumours (we’re looking at you Beyoncé and Solange), there is no doubt that the A-lists are jumping on the weekly hashtag bandwagon enthusiastically. From Queen Bey’s Destiny Child era to Betty and Don Draper’s former TV romance, we scan the Instagram accounts of the hottest Hollywood stars and models and round up the 15 best celebrity #TBT Instagram shots. Let the double tapping begin!

Best red hair: We count down 10 of Hollywood’s top redheads
See the best red hair in Hollywood »
There is no doubt that red hair instantly stands out in a sea of blondes and brunettes. Once rare and unique in Hollywood, red seems to be the hair colour of choice for some of the hottest celebrities. And although there are only a handful of famous natural redheaded beauties, the colour remains a top choice for temporary (read: attention-grabbing) dye jobs. Think about it: also almost every leading lady has a red phase on record.
While we can easily pin Jessica Chastain, Isla Fisher and Julianne Moore as natural redheads, other celebrities have had red hair for so long that we basically consider the shade as the one they were born with. Although hair colour chameleon Emma Stone is often mistaken as a true redhead—her go-to copper hue perfectly suits her flawless porcelain skin—she’s actually a blonde. (Same with Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks!) Amy Adams also wears her red hair well, likely because it’s just a touch brighter than her natural strawberry blonde shade.

Critics’ Choice Awards 2014: Our top 10 red carpet picks
See the Critics Choice Awards 2014 Red Carpet photos »
Awards season is underway and it seems that every other night there is a star-studded gala, benefit or awards show to ogle. We’re not complaining. Last night, it was the Critics’ Choice Awards in Santa Monica, and our favourite celebs didn’t disappoint on the red carpet. A mix of new faces and fashion vets make up our best dressed list keeping things fresh with pops of colour and new silhouettes.
Breakout Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie was a certified babe in a black lace-trimmed jumpsuit from red carpet favourite Elie Saab’s Spring 2014 collection. Pants are still considered unconventional on the red carpet, but this Aussie killed. On the flip side, 12 Years a Slave star Lupita Nyong’o went with a stunning white cut-out Calvin Klein Collection dress and clutch, later accessorized with the award for Best Supporting Actress. Team Lupita FTW.
Some of our favourite faces shone on the red carpet in a pleasant colour array. Meryl Streep went for a bedazzled navy blue Stella McCartney dress, while Best Actress in a Drama winner Sandra Bullock opted for a rich burgundy custom Lanvin dress, which she finished off with a classic Roger Vivier buckle clutch and Fred Leighton jewels. Both Oprah Winfrey and Julia Louis-Dreyfus showed how to work green in their own unique way—the Queen of talk shows in a cinched dark green Azzedine Alaïa gown and Dreyfus in a Reem Acra knee-length cocktail dress.

Golden Globes 2014: Our picks for the red carpet’s 26 best dressed

The A-list came out swinging on the Golden Globes 2014 red carpet, with everyone from Meryl to Leo making an appearance. As the unofficial precursor to the Oscars, the Globes was home to some season-setting style statements. Most strikingly, rising 12 Years a Slave star Lupita Nyong’o had her career-making moment in a breathtaking red cape Ralph Lauren dress a la Gwyneth in 2012. Also in red, Amy Adams channeled her award winning American Hustle role in a cleavage-baring Valentino gown. Emma Watson wore red most adventurously as a Dior dress overtop cigarette pants, proving there are still creative ways to do red carpet.
Baby bumps were everywhere at Golden Globes 2014, with Hollywood’s latest pregnancy wave hitting the red carpet in a big way (no pun intended). Kerry Washington made a sleek statement in grey Balenciaga, while Olivia Wilde went head-to-toe glitter in green Gucci and Drew Barrymore wore a pretty Monique Lhuillier dress.
Dior devout Jennifer Lawrence split the critics, receiving part love part hate for her strapless white gown with black straps.
What do you think? Who wore it best on the Golden Globes 2014 red carpet?

TIFF 2013: Bring on the A-listers! 13 best dressed picks from the red carpets, parties and premieres
See the TIFF 2013 red carpet best dressed picks »
After ten days of red carpet premieres, after parties and celebrity stalking, TIFF 2013 has officially come to an end.
Possibly the best (and most well-dressed) year yet, Toronto had quite the roster of A-list celebrities in town to promote new films and projects. While the crush-worthy men looked as dapper as always, it was really the ladies who stole the show, bringing glamorous outfits onto the red carpet.
Cool blue tones were a favourite amongst the stars (possibly a nod to the emerging Spring 2014 trend?) with the colour appearing on Olivia Wilde, Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Aniston—to name a few.
And while celebrities like Taylor Swift, Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson opted for the minimalist yet sultry look in solid colours, how could anyone forget Keira Knightley’s whimsical printed dress by Mary Katrantzou.
Not ready to let go of TIFF just yet? From Nicole Kidman’s tailored pantsuit to Kate Winslet’s glowing pregnancy style, we’ve rounded up the top TIFF red carpet looks and all you have to do is vote for your favourite.

TIFF 2013: Inside the intimate dinner party with Jessica Chastain for The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby

Jessica Chastain wiped away tears of joy following the premiere of The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, explaining to the TIFF audience how happy she was to finally make a film with her friend of 10 years, director Ned Benson.
The 3-hour+ epic is actually two films back to back, and unspools the same story twice: first from a husband’s point of view, then from his wife’s. Demanding? Yes. Emotionally draining? Perhaps.
Still, the mood at the after-dinner for the cast, hosted by the Hudson’s Bay Co. at The Chase, was buoyant. And how could it not be? Stars James McAvoy, Jess Weixler, Ciaran Hinds and the luminous Chastain, in a chiffony aqua Versace, chatted up the crowd which included designer Wayne Clark, The Bay’s Nicholas Mellamphy and Suzanne Timmins and Barbara Amiel, pretty in pink and white Erdem from The Room.

TIFF 2013: Scarlett Johansson, Jude Law, Mila Kunis, Jessica Chastain and more stop by the Variety Studio at Holt Renfrew

Considering Holt Renfrew hosts the TIFF Variety Studio every year, one would expect all the stars to be immaculately dressed (quick shop before the presser, anyone?). Well it seems someone must have been thinking like us because all the celebs were dressed to the nines in their designer wares.
A newly-engaged Scarlett Johansson was spotted perusing the men’s section (buying goodies for her fiancé, perhaps?) in a paneled plaid/leather dress by Sachin + Babi. Paired with chunky, patent, platform Robert Clergerie loafers, it was a total ‘90s throwback. The only thing that had us a little confused was her pin-up girl hair, which seemed a bit too fussy for her elegant-grunge look.
As expected, Third Person co-stars Mila Kunis and Olivia Wilde both knocked it out of the proverbial park with their haute wares. The Black Swan star chose a very slimming/Slimane (get it?) Saint Laurent tuxedo and Nicholas Kirkwood heels, while Wilde went a little more unconventional in an embellished Marios Schwab top and skirt and Jimmy Choo heels.

TIFF 2013: Jessica Chastain dazzles at the InStyle and Hollywood Foreign Press Association party
