British designer Roland Mouret doesn’t see a diffusion line in his future: “I would never do a diffusion line. I don’t think the future is that. People mix brands all the time already, so you need to do something else. We are living in a different fashion world now,” he said. [Style File]

Sarah Taylor’s FASHION + Music picks: “Limit to Your Love” by James Blake and “Runaway” by Kanye West
Kanye West, “Runaway”
I have admitted to myself that I love Kanye West. I won’t justify this proclamation too much but I will say that I no longer feel bad about this fact. I saw his much talked about 2010 MTV VMA performance of “Runaway,” and since its release I haven’t been able to stop watching his 35-minute short film of the same name–it’s that strange and captivating. And of course, it’s also stunningly gorgeous. There are a lot of haters who are happy to put down something different and that may just be a little too easy, don’t you think? I say less cynicism and more freedom. More expression and more beauty. And maybe a toast for the jerkoffs.
Best line from the film Runaway: “First rule of living in this world, baby? Don’t pay attention to anything you see in the news.”

Lily Allen spoke to The Telegraph about her ‘Pretty Woman moment’ when she walked into an upscale boutique after becoming “a newly wealthy teenager.” She recalls: “All these snooty shop assistants were staring at me as if I couldn’t afford their clothes so I bought way too much stuff just to show that I could.” [The Telegraph]
Lara Stone has won her suit against French Playboy, who published nude images of the gap-toothed model without her permission. [Fashionologie]

Fashion news: Justin Bieber nail polish; Kell on Earth comes to Canada; and did Karen Elson steal Christina Hendricks’ look?
Stefano Pilati, Karl Lagerfeld, Christophe Decarnin, Hedi Slimane, Alber Elbaz and Raf Simons have all been caught up in the rumour mill–again. According to a number of unnamed sources, Pilati is set to be replaced at YSL with either Slimane, Simons or Decarnin. The Kaiser is rumoured to retire from Chanel in 2012 (on his 30th anniversary with the brand) and will be replaced with Elbaz of Lanvin. And if the gossip is true Theyskens will be replacing Elbaz at Lanvin. [The Cut]

NYFW diary: Kanye in hot pink, sophisticated beachwear at Michael Kors and red carpet lust at Marchesa
Wednesday’s packed schedule has me up and out of my hotel faster than you can say Tory Burch (which is where I was headed first). Burch’s spring presentation was like a healthy hit of vitamin C: Bright tangerine dresses, striped menswear-inspired suitings with a retro Carnaby Street vibe, white top-handle bags, below the knee skirts […]

Fashion news: NYFW may be picketed by someone other than PETA, DVF does hospital gowns, and American Apparel is $120 mil in the hole
Storm’s a-brewing over who will work New York Fashion Week at it’s debut run at the Lincoln Center – will it be IMG Fashion, who normally works NYFW gigs or Local One, the union in charge of all theatrical endeavours at the Lincoln. NYFW is threatened with picketing, should this heat up any further. And upon hearing this news, the red paint-baring PETA people are presumably cheering, “the more, the merrier.” [Wall Street Journal via The Cut]
We’ve just gotten our first look at Oasis-man Liam Gallagher‘s lookbook for his very necessary line Pretty Green. It’s been noted that he’s really outdone himself: Among the forgettable neutrals there’s a red velvet peacoat (colour! can you imagine!?). Apparently Gallagher can’t, which may be why the self-styled and self-modelled lookbook features Liam starring up at the sky in full existential-contemplation mode, as if to ponder, “what does the red peacoat mean?’ [The Cut]
