From metallic purple (Fendi) to fluoro-pink (Christian Dior) to burning red (Marni), makeup artists have ignited a newfound appreciation for highly individualized hues. Yet for certain style and beauty influencers, a bold swipe of colour across the lips is a defining feature that separates them from the pack. More than a spritz of perfume or a faithful handbag, lipstick conveys the nuances of their personality, making them instantly recognizable. Here, we asked our favourite lipstick devotees to bare all when it comes to their shades and brands of choice, how they discovered their prized hues and their expert application tricks.

As we reported back in February, Rihanna has partnered with M.A.C Cosmetics on series of makeup collections that will launch throughout the year, centred around her signature lipstick shade “RiRi Woo.” Well fans, the wait for the second (of four!) is over: the RiRi [Hearts] M.A.C summer collection has just been announced and it’ll be available for sale next week.

Inspired by summer love, the five-piece collection includes three lipsticks, one blush-bronzer duo and a shimmering Lustre Drops shade.

I seem to have some clogged pores that won’t budge. Is there a good way to clear up my skin without getting a facial?
Clogged pores are pesky! They’re not quite a full-on breakout, but they definitely detract from the overall health of your skin. Dead skin cells, dirt, debris or excess oil can clog pores. So let me quickly reiterate how important it is to remove makeup and cleanse skin nightly! Doing so will drastically reduce the likelihood of clogged pores, but no one is entirely immune from them. Attack with a mask, such as SkinCeuticals Clarifying Clay Masque ($50, skinceuticals.com). While this is a clay-based concoction, which is always optimal for purifying skin and controlling sebum production, the formula is actually boosted by 5 per cent mixed hydroxy acids. The blend of hydroxy acids includes glycolic acid, which will alleviate the accumulation of dead skin cells, as well as citric, tartaric, and malic acids, which are all antioxidants that, when applied twice a week, will help get your skin to the state you want it to be in.

What can I use to battle fine lines and wrinkles in my undereye area? They seem to be getting a little bit deeper each year.
A fair question that many people start to ponder as time goes on! It’s important to understand that fine lines can appear due to dehydration, which can be addressed by adding moisture back into the eye area with an eye cream. However, wrinkles and fine lines brought on by aging are bit of a different beast! Consider enlisting a retinoid-based product, such as Philosophy Miracle Worker Retinoid Eye Repair Cream ($65, sephora.com), to help out. Retinoid creams contain vitamin A derivatives that work to smooth fine lines/wrinkles and boost collagen while evening out discoloration and smoothness and this particular one also contains peptides to tackle undereye bags and darkness. Tip: Retinoid creams can make skin particularly sensitive to sun exposure, so don’t forget your SPF and sunglasses when out and about!

I feel like it’s difficult to find a fragrance that is truly atypical and stands out from what I already own and what others around me wear. Any suggestions?
As we all know, fragrance is extremely personal and subjective. It’s fairly common knowledge that the way fragrance smells on skin varies from person to person, dependent on the acidity of the skin. That being said, who wouldn’t want something that’s less identifiable upon first smell and perhaps a bit more intriguing to passersby? We still have Paris to go, but it’s safe to say that so far, there has been a lot of pared down beauty this season. When makeup artists do drag the colour out, it seems a strong lip is in favour. As Milan Fashion Week Fall 2013 winds down, here are three of our favourite bold mouths from that city.

Bad gal RiRi will now be known as M.A.C gal RiRi. It was announced today that Rihanna has partnered with M.A.C Cosmetics to release a series of RiRi [Hearts] M.A.C makeup collaborations throughout 2013.

Rihanna tweeted her excitement this morning and included an Instagram shot of the collection: “That’s right baby, I’m a #MACgal now! Get into it, package designed and products created from scratch by yours truly! Thanks to the EPIC team at #MAC for giving me the opportunity to play and share my favorite shit with my fans and yours.”
