Ruffian designs Anthropologie line, Burberry gets digital, and celebrity designers in trouble
Burberry is hopping on the social-media bandwagon with their Burberry Prorsum runway show. It will be simulcast live from London Fashion Week at live.burberry.com at 1:30 p.m. EST today. The brand recently launched Facebook and Twitter accounts, and is set to create a site called “Art of the Trench,” where loyal fans can contribute photos of themselves in their classic nova-check coats. Celebrity clothing lines are being hit hard by the recession. Anna Wintour, and we’re sure many others, is pleased by the economic situation, saying it will weed out the weak. “Every D-level celebrity who thought they could make a quick buck by designing a handbag or whatever is going to disappear,” she said. Stars who don’t seem to have staying power (at least in the design world) include Justin Timberlake, Lauren Conrad and Jennifer Lopez. [WSJ]

Vuitton’s costume jeweller headed to Dior

Louis Vuitton Fall 2009. Photography by Peter Stigter Christian Dior has named Camille Miceli as artistic director of costume jewellery and an adviser on a selection of leather works. With not-so-humble beginnings as an intern at Chanel and Azzedine Alaïa, Miceli’s fashion career began at the ripe old age of 15. She has been working with Louis Vuitton since 1997, when she started in the public relations department. Working under the guidance of Marc Jacobs, Miceli began creating costume jewellery collections for the brand for its Spring 2004 showing.

Video: André Leon Talley has the best tennis outfit ever
In the latest September Issue clip to hit (honestly, we won’t even have to see the movie by the time it hits screens. Though we totally will.), everyone’s favourite Vogue editor-at-large, André Leon Talley, demonstrates that one does not have to lower oneself to the level of wearing sweatpants just because one is getting sweaty. Check the LV towel and toque ALT is sporting at his tennis lesson, not to mention the Damon Dash pants and vintage diamond Piaget watch. Oh, and a mini LV trunk for his Fiji water. And you wonder why we have a crush.

Louis Vuitton’s luxe new book
Bibliophiles will always look back on Septembers fondly. The start of a school year meant new texts and literature—even the dullest of history books offered the promise of something notable trapped between the pages. Those looking to recapture that textual feeling, while satisfying a zeal for fashion and design, would do well to pick up Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture.

I wanna be a supermodel
The sun was beaming on our shoulders and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, but last week, the real heat was inside Toronto’s Metropolitan Hotel, where 20 girls—including CNTM winner Meaghan Waller–anxiously awaited the start of this year’s installment of Elmer Olsen Models’ Bootcamp 2 Bigtime. Every year, the agency’s top new faces are […]

Paris: October 5

By Rebecca Voight
Wow, it’s Sunday and it’s almost time to say ‘That’s all folks!’
Marc Jacobs had Edith Piaf singing her heart out for one of the best Louis Vuitton collections ever. The mood was titi Parisienne and the models with poodle dos did have what the French call “du chien.” But by the end of the show it was clear Jacobs had set Parisian cheeky chic to an African beat.

So sad that fashion week is drawing to an end. I have truly loved every moment–from the mad crush at the tent entrance to the metallic accents on coats, bags and shoes to the mid-afternoon macaroon fashion refuels.
