Battle of the It bags: Which takes the cake for the most coveted?
The Kelly, the PS1, the Speedy: It bags have become so major over the years, that they scarcely even need a designer name attached! We discuss the appeal at length in our Winter 2012 issue, but today, we’re putting these bags to the test: in the battle of It bag supremacy, which comes out on top?

TIFF 2011: Learn how not to pose for the photog from these celeb gaffes
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise shot by James Devaney/Getty Images It’s that time again. Toronto has rolled out the red carpet for an army of A-listers, all flocking to TIFF looking their most flashbulb-friendly. Sure, everybody has a “good side” in photographs, but no one works their angles (or, wrecks their angles, depending on who you ask) quite like a VIP.
Couture-clad celebutantes poised in the same goofy positions, doing the same silly faces, and looking all-around stupid for the paparazzi’s pleasure. So, which repellent poses take the cake? We’re all familiar with the traditional hand-on-hip and shoulder-peek-over, but FASHION has assembled a list of the top five posing offenses, and their frequent perpetrators, with tips on how to avoid making the same photo faux pas yourself.

Celeb poll: Vote for your favourite dress from the Met Gala!
The Met Gala, the annual celebration of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art‘s summer Costume Institute exhibit, is loosely known as the Oscars of fashion. This year, models of the moment, editrixes, big-deal designers, as well as fashion-crowd approved pop stars and actresses flocked to the famed red steps in the name of Alexander McQueen, the subject of this years exhibit entitled Savage Beauty. While the designer’s famed creations didn’t dominate the carpet quite as we had hoped (but more on that later), there were lots of juicy bright hues (Zoe Saldana and Ginnifer Goodwin), ladylike lace (Rihanna, Taylor Swift), anything-but-basic black (Christina Ricci, Ashley Olsen, Stella McCartney), and plenty of glitzy gowns (Gwyneth Paltrow, Diane Kruger) to feast our eyes on.
As for our faves? We loved Diane in her up-to-there Jason Wu gown, and Liv Tyler in her breathtaking feathered Givenchy couture. And you?

Celeb vote: Who was best dressed at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards?
Last night, menswear designer Billy Reid was awarded the US$300,000 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund prize and the fashion firmament was there–from Kim Kardashian to Karl Lagerfeld and every socialite, starlet, stylist and designer that exists in that rather considerable chasm between. We picked some of our favourite looks of the night and threw in a few outliers because, frankly, the young starlet uniform of a short dress and booties is starting to get a little boring. Who do you think was best dressed? (If you need a better view, there’s a full gallery after the jump.)

Photo by Ryan McGinley via the New York Times Surprise – Rodarte gets their own fashion show at the Olympics. The New York Times magazine asked Kate and Laura Mulleavy to design 13 outfits for athletes, including figure skaters, a ski jumper and snowboarders. Adding to their whirlwind month, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have launched a new denim line, Textile Elizabeth and James. Launching in March, the three-jean collection is ‘70s inspired, both in style and name: there’s the Hendrix, the Stevie and the Joni, all featuring a hippie twist, be it through a high-waist or bellbottom leg. The jeans will be sold exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Intermix with plans to expand the collection to a full lifestyle collection in the fall. [WWD]
