Rose does Joe Fresh! Michelle loves bright nails! Our 4 beauty picks from the Screen Actors Guild Awards
It seemed like many were playing it safe on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards this weekend. The dresses were pretty, but there was nothing overtly jaw-dropping, and in terms of beauty the trend seemed to lean towards keeping it simple. Dare we say that the stars (and their stylists!) are holding back until the Oscars? We’ll have to wait until February 26 to find out. But until then, here are four looks that managed to stand out:
Rose Byrne does Joe Fresh! »
Michelle Williams’ bright nails! »
Ashlee Simpson’s short and sculpted hair! »
Dianna Agron’s fishtail braid! »

Who wore it best? View our top 8 picks from the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet and vote for your favourite
Oh, how we love red carpet season. It seems that weekly, we’re showered with stunning photos of Hollywood’s A-List showing off like it’s nobody’s business. (Well, actually, it is our business.) At last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, it seemed that this year’s nominees and stars were channeling their onscreen roles, with Michelle Williams in a va-va-voom lace Valentino, Shailene Woodley in a Hawaiian-esque floral-print L’wren Scott, and Emma Stone in a retro-shaped Alexander McQueen cocktail number. So, who wore it best? Check out our top 8 and vote for your favourite.

Meryl! Rooney! Michelle! We dress our favourite Oscar nominees in the best dresses from the Pre-Fall and Couture collections
It’s that time again! Oscar has spoken, and the nominations are in. Although we would’ve liked to see Tilda Swinton, Elizabeth Olsen, Kirsten Dunst, Shailene Woodley, and Charlize Theron be part of the Best Actress hoopla, it’s probably on Meryl lock anyway. We combed the Pre-Fall collections (with one couture exception) and plucked the gowns we think Oscar’s Best Actress nominees should consider for February 26. Let the countdown begin!

(Unless you’re Zooey Deschanel, in which case custom tuxedo-inspired nail art is the way to go!) From Jessica Alba’s light lavender nails to Paula Patton’s dark-purple polish, we’ve rounded up our favourite manicures from the red carpet.

SNP’s word of the day: Désamour
Word: Désamour
Meaning: Unlove, although that’s not an English word; maybe disenchantment, then.
Usage: “S’il n’est pas sûr, malgré le dicton, que l’esprit vienne aux filles avec l’amour, il semble s’aiguiser dans le désamour.” — Hervé Bazin in Madame Ex.

Get out your hot rollers and cat-eye sunglasses: the My Week With Marilyn trailer is here
Set to debut this weekend at the New York Film Festival, the trailer for My Week With Marilyn has been released and not a moment too soon. Starring Michelle Williams, it’s a period film that’s been flying slightly under our radar. Yes, there was the stunning Michelle-as-Monroe Vogue cover—but after watching the trailer we now see just how sensational this film will be. Here’s why we’re excited:

Celeb poll: Which red carpet star are you most excited to see at TIFF?
The official TIFF guest list has been released and, as usual, it’s major! Amongst the cast of glittering names, heralded directors and studly leading men (would you like a side of Ryan Gosling/Alexander Skarsgard/Brad Pitt with that?), there promises to be some serious It girl action on the red carpet with everyone from Tilda to Keira to Blake to Carey heading to town. Stay tuned for our coverage leading up to and during the festival, but in the meantime, let’s indulge in a little girl crush freak-out. Who are you most excited to see?

Then and now: These celebs and fashion insiders know how to do retro without going back in time
It’s no secret that we’re all a little fixated with the styles of the past. Each season, a reference (or many) to full skirts, bellbottoms, or drop waists pops up on the runway, and we embrace it with a fresh new take on how to dress it up. Riffing on the past without looking like you came out of a time machine though—therein lies the rub. Before you delve into your old gems, take a look at how the style icons of today have interpreted the icons of days gone by.

Celeb poll: Michelle Williams is tied up in a bow. Do you like her look?
Michelle Williams joined Ryan Gosling on the red carpet for the New York premiere of their latest film Blue Valentine. Williams wore a crystal-embellished Azzaro dress that she paired with sparkly Charlotte Olympia pumps. What do you think of Williams’ two-toned look? Is it too much or just enough? Cast your vote after the jump.

Dispatches from London: LFW opening weekend
Welcome to London Fashion Week! After religiously checking the weather for days before my departure, this fashionista has been blessed with dry weather and sunshine—shocking for this city.
No major Anna Wintour sightings yet—although she is reported to be here covering the shows for the 25th anniversary of the British Fashion Council. I did spy her at the fall shows last February in New York, though, so I know exactly what the tiny bobbed one looks like in person. I’m keeping my peepers peeled!
