What’s in your bag, Maryam Keyhani?

Photography by Erin Seaman Next up on our list of industry insider bags, we’re going inside the 3-in-1 Céline stunner belonging to the Tehran-born, Toronto-based jewellery designer, Maryam Keyhani. Anyone who knows Keyhani knows that her superbly artsy personal style comes part and parcel with her superbly artsy designs. She’s rarely seen without a top hat or some sort of trompe l’oeil. The contents of her bag reflect this sense of style, as well as how awesome she is in general.

Afternoon beauty fix: Add a little glow to your skin without looking shiny
What’s the best way to make my skin look dewy without appearing shiny?
This fix is actually a very simple one: select products with a metallic finish and blend them into your regular beauty routine—literally! For example, instead of applying foundation like you normally do, mix it with a pea-sized amount of brilliance: a luminizer. -

Afternoon beauty fix: Don’t just cover dark age spots, prevent them as well!
Is there a way to conceal dark age spots on my face without looking like I’ve caked makeup on?
Before you worry any further about those age spots, I need to tell you that they aren’t caused by age at all, they’re caused by exposure to the sun. As we age, our melanin weakens and gradually loses its natural ability to combat UV damage, but the spots you see now are from damage already done. Still, it’s never too late to take better care, by adopting the use of a high-protection sunscreen on a daily basis—and a tinted one will help hide the spots you already have. -

Afternoon beauty fix: How to add some Katy Perry-ish pink to your hair just for the weekend
I’m pretty much obsessed with Katy Perry’s new pink highlights. I’m just as blonde and I’d like to try the look this weekend, so long as it’s gone by Monday morning. Any tips? No problem! Not only are her pink highlights gorgeous, they’re easy to create and even easier to remove in a jiffy. Since […]

Afternoon beauty fix: 3 ways to give sparse eyebrows a boost
What’s my best solution for filling in sparse eyebrows? I was born with barely any, and wish for ones like Brooke Shields has. Technique is important, but don’t fret—enhancing your brows is simpler than you think. Brush your brows upwards then outward to settle rogue hairs. Then, pick a colour: it’s best to go darker […]

Bright lips, bold eyes, pink hair: Get Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry’s AMA look!

From left to right: Photo by Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic and Steve Granitz//WireImage We must be very used to seeing Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj in outlandish outfits on the red carpet, because we totally missed the fact that they had almost identical hair and makeup at the American Music Awards. (And pink hair is usually easy to spot!) While most people live by the beauty rule of wearing either a bold eye or bold lip, Perry and Minaj love making a statement with hits of bright colour on both. Thing is, when you’re an international pop star, it totally works.
But, for the rest of us, it’s a little harder to pull off the “heavy-handed cat eye and bright lips” combo. If you’re going to try it, do so when it’s event appropriate: meaning, not for dinner at your boyfriend’s parents’ house, or when you’re chatting up the boss at your office holiday party. Instead, break this style out when you’re going to be around Minaj and Perry types—that is, at a crazy concert or one of those parties that just seems to last all night long.

Rooney Mara does Lisbeth Salander on the red carpet. We show you how to get her beauty look
We’ve certainly seen actors embrace the characters they play while a film is in production, but Rooney Mara seems to be holding on to her Lisbeth Salander style long after David Fincher called “Cut!” on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. True, blunt-cut bangs take a long time to grow out, and Mara is wise to keep her hair black if she’s soon due on set for the sequel. But paired with that deep-purple lipstick and stark neutral eye—it’s seems Mara’s not ready to give up Salander’s gothic-grunge look.
Fortunately, Mara’s once-demure style shines through, making her aesthetic appear very modern and not at all like the gothic glamfest that other bright-eyed beauties (Evan Rachel Wood, we’re talking to you!) are fond of.
