Get rewarded for going to the spa with Dermalogica’s new Little Grey Pass program
If finding the perfect skin care routine is on your 2014 to-do list, listen up! Dermalogica has just announced a new program that will get your skin in fine form and reward you for going to the spa more frequently.
Open to residents in Vancouver and Toronto, the Little Grey Pass works somewhat like an actual passport. Every time you visit one of Dermalogica’s certified skin centres for a 60-minute skin treatment, you get a stamp. Once you’ve visited four different spas, you can redeem your pass for a bottle of Dermalogica’s PreCleanse, a cult favourite of the brand. If you make it to six different spas, you’ll also get a travel-sized Daily Microfoliant. Being rewarded for pampering your skin—what more could a beauty buff ask for?

See the deep cleaning skincare product picks »
Now that hot summer days are only a distant memory, our skin is taking a major hit. As the humidity in the air continues to dwindle, so does our skin’s natural moisture barrier—which leads to flakiness, the over-production of oil and, worst of all, blemishes. Congested skin is hardly an enjoyable way to start the season, so fight back with a deep cleaning. From at-home exfoliation to heavy-duty spa treatments, we’ve rounded up five ways to really deep clean your skin—while ensuring it stays hydrated and healthy.

Tired of being told you look tired? From serums to surgeries, we test-drive the top anti-aging eye treatments
Photography by Carlo Mendoza See our top anti-aging eye products »
“Don’t you think she looks tired?” These six words, murmured by a male adversary, take down an entire government. Doctor Who’s Tenth Doctor is speaking about Harriet Jones, the 50-something prime minister of Britain. As his words spread doubt about her capabilities, Jones begins to panic and worry—appearing tired as a result. The time-travelling Doctor himself may be incredulous at how little has changed with regard to the link between professional women’s work and their appearance-—the appearance of fatigue, particularly.
So age discrimination persists against women? There are “all kinds of it,” says Spring Tompkins, a professor of human resources at St. Lawrence College. One acquaintance, a finance executive in her 60s, has been bombarded throughout her career with faux sympathy for her so-very-tiredness. “I know they’re trying to undermine me,” she says. “I just smile.” Such digs are a way of nipping at one’s confidence and sense of security in the many industries that value youth over experience. It’s a global issue: The Daily Beast reports that in China, professional women nearing their 30s are increasingly resorting to plastic surgery—many job postings are open only to women under 30, and unmarried females in their late 20s are commonly referred to as “leftover women.”

Move over, argan! From dilo to moringa, here are 4 of the best new beauty oils for your face and hair
The success of argan has solidified oils’ place in the beauty world. Now, new imports from Africa, Asia and the South Pacific are giving Morocco’s golden elixir some steep competition.
By Wendy Schmid
The beauty industry has a new list of buzzwords: Dilo, moringa, marula, camellia. They don’t exactly trip off the tongue, but each one is a nutritive oil primed to be a hit. And while they may be new to us, to indigenous peoples they’re long-time beauty secrets. Culled from nuts, seeds and flowers and brimming with antioxidants and essential fatty acids (omegas 3, 6 and 9), they are nature’s true anti-agers. When combined with high-tech ingredients, they pack an even bigger punch. Here, a look at the ones you’ll want to be smoothing on your skin and hair this season.

Gisele Bündchen is the new face of the Chanel Les Beiges makeup line
Photography courtesy Chanel First they hired Brad Pitt, now Chanel has snagged Gisele Bündchen. (Of course, we wouldn’t expect anything less!) Today it was announced that Gisele is the new face of Chanel’s forthcoming Les Beiges makeup line, a collection that represents “natural beauty, simplicity, freedom and a healthy glow.” Les Beiges is not a colour cosmetics collection—it’s simply a new sheer powder product. But this back-to-the-basics approach is why Gisele was chosen to represent Les Beiges: “Modern, independent and positive, [Gisele] is also a nature lover who has a healthy lifestyle and enjoys the great outdoors,” said the brand via press release.

Allison Williams is the new face of Simple skincare
Photography by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images The cast of HBO’s Girls just keep getting more and more influential. Today it was announced that Allison Williams is the new face of sensitive skincare line Simple. The brand prides itself on having no perfumes, dyes or harsh irritants in its products and it seems like this promise was what drew Williams in.
Given that she portrays the impeccably put-together Marnie (well… at least in the first season of Girls) so well, it’s hard to envision Allison Williams dealing with problematic skin in real life. But indeed, she’s just like the rest of us.

Today in really, really weird beauty news: Oprah’s favourite moisturizer is made from human foreskins
Ingredients in skincare products are becoming increasingly inventive and unusual—so much so that many people may actually have no idea what is in the moisturizer they use everyday. But for Oprah Winfrey, a peculiar and, quite frankly, bizarre ingredient in one of her favourite face creams has the TV personality in hot water. At a live event in Vancouver last Thursday, a small group of protesters were outside the stadium to oppose Oprah’s endorsement of a SkinMedica anti-wrinkle cream that is allegedly made from human foreskins. (Yes, you read that right: human foreskins.)
The product in question is SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex , which promises to “rapidly restore the skins’ barrier and moisture balance.” It contains foreskin fibroblast—otherwise known on the company’s website as “Human Fibroblast Conditioned Media” that reportedly helps improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, as well as overall skin tone and texture. Oprah has publicly endorsed the cream and encouraged her legions of fans and celebrity friends to try it.

Jennifer Aniston is expanding her beauty empire: She’s the new face of Aveeno skincare
Photography by Michael Buckner/Getty Images Jennifer Aniston has always been committed to health and advocating for eco-friendly products, so it is no surprise that the former Friends actress has signed a deal to be the new face of Aveeno skincare.
Rumours of the partnership have been swirling since last summer, but the deal was confirmed today by E! News. (An odd outlet for a beauty exclusive but we’ll take it!) Aniston’s rep said that the actress will be partnering with Aveeno specifically for skincare and indicated that we will likely be seeing the results of the collaboration later this year.
