Michael Kors on celebrating his 30th anniversary, staying plugged in and becoming an adjective.

All-American. Spirited. Jetsetter. You can spot Michael Kors from a mile away. Over the course of his 30 years in the fashion industry, the man and the brand have become one and the same, morphing into a mega-empire that, as rumour has it, hit a billion dollars in sales this year. Not bad for a boy from Long Island, New York. Adored by Hollywood A-listers like Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez, soccer moms and First Ladies alike (Michelle Obama wore Kors for her first official White House portrait), his rise to fashion royalty took off in 1981, when he launched his eponymous womenswear line.

1. Rose gold or mirrored silver metallic.

2. Sleek stilettos: buh bye chunky platforms, and hello Celine pointy high-vamp pumps.

3. Sky-high hemlines and higher heels.

Last night, Holt Renfrew fêted Erin Kleinberg, Stephanie Mark, and Jake Rosenberg, the home-grown trio behind voyeuristic style site The Coveteur. Held in the the shoe department of the Bloor Street flagship store, the soiree debuted a new photo exhibit previewing the store’s fall footwear collections, as well as the closets of Canadian taste-makers Dee Dee Taylor Eustace, Gabor Jurina (whose closet was guest-edited by our very own Susie Sheffman), Sylvia Mantella, and Lynda Latner. The three Coveteurs (get it?) looked as chic as the venue, with Kleinberg in a flowing DVF and Céline choker, Mark in Alaïa, and Rosenberg in Hugo Boss. Natch.

Recently, we talked about the rumours speculating Marc Jacobs’ move from Louis Vuitton to Dior; but today the issue has gained further momentum. Dun dun dun!

Sources claim that Bernard Arnault has officially named Jacobs as Galliano’s replacement at Dior, and an announcement is forthcoming. Moving down the fashion industry ladder, our next question inevitably is: Who will be replacing Jacobs at Vuitton?

Surprisingly, or not, all fingers point to Phoebe Philo, the woman credited for turning around the now-coveted Céline. Don’t fret, Céline lovers—it appears that Philo will simultaneously act as Céline’s creative director, meanwhile taking on Jacobs’ job at Vuitton. Pressure much?

Does artistic genius run in the family? When your older sister is Lady Gaga, there has to be some crossover. Natali Germanotta, who is being labelled “Baby Gaga,” is setting out to prove that she too possesses creative talent. News has broken that the 19-year-old is creating costumes for Simon Says, the Off-Broadway show set to premiere this fall in New York.

Germanotta isn’t exactly a stranger to the world of fashion and music. Whether or not you noticed, she appeared in Lady Gaga’s video for “Telephone” and accompanied her to this year’s CFDA awards. Judging from what we’ve seen, the girl’s got style! Beyond that, she has interned for designer Allison Parris and currently studies fashion design at Parsons the New School for Design.

It’s likely that Germanotta will have a high-profile career in fashion, but the question is: Will she bear resemblance to her sister’s style or set her own trends? Will her work resemble Gaga’s designer favourites, like Mugler, McQueen, and Versace? Perhaps, when designing, Germanotta is inspired by the likes of Hermès and Céline… Actually, we  highly doubt that.

Though temporarily overshadowed by Spring’s ode to the thrills and frills of the decadent ’70s, have no fear: Minimalism is still being championed by the likes of Phoebe Philo at Céline, Raf Simons at Jil Sander, as well as a number of young designers such as Central Saint Martins grad Tze Goh. Born in Singapore, he moved to New York to study at Parsons New School for Design and eventually relocated to London, where he is currently based.

Though the annual CFDA Awards are meant to honour top-tier American designers, there’s no debate over who was the focus of last night’s ceremony. Everyone was Gaga for the Lady, with all eyes on her green wig, sky-high boots and custom Mugler spiked thong. Honoured with the night’s Fashion Icon Award (past recipients include Kate Moss, Iman and Nicole Kidman), Gaga turned fire (the good kind) on the night with her lighthearted antics and her unabashed speech. Upon her acceptance, Gaga shared that when she got news of her award from Anna Wintour, she confused the editor in chief of Vogue with a friend and responded with a “Yes, bitch. We did it!”
