Daria Werbowy vs. Dree Hemingway: Who wore white best?
See the red carpet looks up close »
Ukrainian Canadian supermodel Daria Werbowy made an appearance in her hometown at last night’s North American premiere of Lancôme’s Rôses By…20 Artists for a Rose at Toronto’s Frist Canadian Place. Featuring twenty well-known photographers from all over the world (ahem, Patrick Demarchelier), the exhibition celebrates Lancôme’s rose emblem as part of the Luminato arts festival. Wearing an all-white Céline pantsuit, Werbowy looked every bit the modern dandy. The Lancôme spokesperson paired her white attire with white pointed-toe heels and simple gold necklaces. Showing off her model features, the supermodel kept her face natural and styled her hair in a surfer-approved high braid.

Who’s next? The Bay continues its raid of Toronto talent
By Randi Bergman and Meagan Wilson
Bonnie Brooks’ reinvigoration of the Hudson’s Bay Company, and the flagship’s St. Regis Room in particular (now simply called The Room), has brought hot design names like Proenza Schouler, Thakoon and Erdem well south of Bloor Street. Factor in buzzy in-store appearances—with the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, virtually every British designer worth mentioning, and Anna Dello Russo (who will descend with street-style phenom Tommy Ton on April 20)—and Toronto officially has a new nexus of chic.

Powerhouse fashion photogs Inez and Vinoodh speak out on underage models (and Daria poses for YSL)
After an influx of underage models, it’s a refresher to see some older talent in campaigns and editorials. The Fall Louis Vuitton ads feature a trio of supermodels well out of their teens (Natalia Vodianova, 28, Karen Elson, 31, and Christy Turlington, 41), while the 39-year-old Kirsten Owen made a triumphant appearance on the Joe Fresh runway at LG Fashion Week in Toronto.
Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin recently photographed Mississauga’s own Daria Werbowy, who at 26 is hardly geriatric, but certainly not a kid, for Yves Saint Laurent’s fall campaign, which features her elegantly perched at the bottom of a lavish staircase. Looking at the adverts it’s no mystery why the pair now refuse to photograph anyone under the age of 18–a move they made about five years ago.

Fashion news: Kate Moss is shy, Abbey Lee and Dree Hemingway drown in Chanel bags, and will Uncle Karl be on Gossip Girl?
Karl Lagerfeld has just released another short film featuring Dree Hemmingway and Abbey Lee taking a breather after a Chanel spree, hence the film’s title Shopping Fever. Of course, a Lagerfeld short wouldn’t be a Lagerfeld short without Baptiste Giabiconi smouldering expertly at the camera. [The Cut]
More in Lagerfeld-related news: He was spotted with Blake Lively leaving the Ritz Carlton in Paris, so naturally rumours of the Kaiser appearing on Gossip Girl are now rampant. We hope this is true, but it’s probably not. [Glamour]

Fashion news: Kate Hudson is Almay’s new face, Japanese PM makes sartorial faux pas, Juicy Couture to open in Canada
Just announced, rom-com queen Kate Hudson will be the new face of Almay. Her role with the fancy title of “global brand ambassador,” will include involvement with charity events and ad campaigns, which hit print and TV later this year.
Marc Jacobs reportedly wore a kilt to jury duty. His beau Lorenzo Martone hates kilts. Trouble in paradise? Probably not. [Gawker]

Fashion news: Gaga in Prada, snowboarding models and authorities still telling kids to pull up their pants
Yesterday, we reported Lady Gaga‘s odd absence from the red carpet at the Met Gala. While the wires were oddly empty of Gaga in the Prada tux she reportedly wore after changing out of her sparkly catsuit, The Cut recently published a rare shot of Gaga in said tux. With no spikes or sequins or live animals protruding from the outfit, Gaga looks strangely… normal. [The Cut]

Fashion’s Night Out, a shopping celebration organized by Vogue in each of its global cities has expanded from a one night affair into six nights. What was last year referred to as a “drunken chaos,” and saw Barbara Walters singing a duet with Oscar de la Renta, will kick off in France on September 7, end in Greece and Turkey on the 16th, with countries like Britain, Australia, India and Taiwan in between. Sadly, Canada was nowhere to be seen on the bill. [WWD]

Fashion news: Karl’s new mag, Choo shenanigans in Shanghai and some rumours dispelled
The Daily Beast compiled a list of the 10 most valuable models. If the suspense is killing you, Gisele is number one, followed by Christy Turlington (7), Kate Moss (2) and the usual suspects. We’d argue that Daria (5) is hardly an “up-and-comer” though, so you can probably take this all with a grain of salt. [Daily Beast]
Karl Lagerfeld is launching a Chanel magazine called 31 Rue Cambon with Purple’s Olivier Zahm heading up art direction. [The Cut]

Daria, Stam and Erdem go up to the Bay’s Room
The Bay opened the doors of their transformed home of high fashion, The Room, on Wednesday night for a party at their Queen Street location in Toronto. Models Daria Werbowy and Jessica Stam, designers Erdem, Jeremy Laing, Kimberley Newport-Mimran, Lida Baday (it goes on), socials Stacy Kimel and Victoria Webster all packed the massive third floor space to check out one of the most highly-anticipated retail unveiling in recent memory.
