Exclusive: Your first look at Dr. Martens’ Fall 2012 campaign starring Alice Dellal
View our complete Fall 2012 campaign gallery »
The Fall 2012 Dr. Martens campaign is here, and we’ve got an exclusive first look before its Canadian release tomorrow. Building on success with brand ambassador Agyness Deyn, Dr. Martens has placed punky British model Alice Dellal at the helm of this season’s campaign. Dellal is joined by model newcomers Billie Turnbull and Henry Pedro-Wright, as well musician Gwilym Gold—who has amassed some respectable modeling credits of his own, including Burberry’s Fall 2010 campaign. The image, shot by veteran Doc Marten photographer Gavin Watson, builds on the Dr. Martens British punk esthetic, showcasing Dellal, Turnbull and Pedro-Wright in a bathtub, with Dellal clad in some pretty amazing studded patent booties. Shot by directors Fred & Nick, and set to Gold’s sounds, the campaign video depicts the four four beautiful friends sharing a night out on the town. We’re not jealous at all. We’re really not.

We’ve got the scoop and all the looks from Agyness Deyn’s 90s-inspired collection for Dr. Martens
Since most of us are still riding the wave of Britannia fanaticism post-London Olympics, news that Brit model Agyness Deyn has teamed up with famed London label Dr. Martens for a capsule collection could not be better timed.
Deyn, who first scored a pair of Dr. Martens boots at the age of 13, has been the face of the brand for the past two years. Her debut 29-piece collection will now have her at the helm of many design collaborations to come (a spring/summer 2013 line is already wrapped up). The collaboration pulls heavily from Deyn’s own signature grungy aesthetic, while also finding inspiration from style icons of the ‘90s.

TFW Diary: One female model amidst a sea of males at Sid Neigum’s unisexy fall show
View the full collection »
See all Toronto Fashion Week coverage »Sid Neigum’s Fall 2012 collection saw him taking a much-needed breather from his perennial all-black course. And boy, are we glad he did. Mixing tan suede and cream knits among copious darks provided a fresh and optimistic look at fall. With only one female model among a slew of males (all clad in gargantuan Dr. Martens, no less), it was clear post-apocalyptic androgyny was the (somewhat tired) name of the game.
Neigum’s womenswear collection was selected as one of the finalists in the Toronto Fashion Incubator’s New Labels competition. Since the rules of the competition stipulate he can’t show his pieces until a winner is chosen, Neigum showed only two womenswear looks, and had us lusting for more (who says playing hard to get doesn’t work?).
Outerwear was the real standout in this collection. Piece after piece—be it fastened from textural leather or soft felt—was perfectly tailored. The clear runway winner? A buckled leather jacket worn with the model’s arms protruding from cape-like arm-slits underneath the sleeves.

Fashion news: Daphne Guinness buys up Isabella Blow’s wardrobe, Tamara Mellon’s royal honours and Hello Kitty Docs
Sanrio (who blessed the world with Hello Kitty & co.) has teamed up with Dr. Martens to celebrate the Japanese brand’s fiftieth. The line of signature eight-hole boots will be decked out with the best of Sanrio–a perfect consolation for kawaii (i.e. cuteness) fans who cried over the Takashi Murakami + Louis Vuitton price tags. [I want-I got]
Rumours of a collaboration between Coach and (wait for it) JC Penney are circulating after Coach CEO mentioned it would be a possibility. The line won’t won’t technically be Coach–the accessories will be sold under a different name. [WWD]
