The Wizard of Oz is coming to a fashion week near you!
See all the designer sketches here »
For all you Wizard of Oz Mega Fans, September 4, 2014 is a date you are going to want to mark in your calendars. The film’s leading ladies will be transformed high-fashion-style for the film’s 75th Anniversary. Inspired by Dorothy, Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West (we know, we can hardly contain ourselves) Warner Bros. Consumer Products and The Wizard of Oz have teamed with US-based Tonner Doll Collection, plus various designers to create one-of-a-kind 22-inch couture dolls. If you’ve ever thought a green, warty witch couldn’t be glamorous, you’d better think again.
The Wizard of Oz has influenced fashion for decades, from Louis Vuitton’s Follow the Yellow Brick Road-esque dress to Christopher Kane’s rainbow dress of Spring ’14 to Kate Spade gingham pants, the list is endless. But never before have we seen something like this- a heap of our favorite designers re-imagining one of the most popular films of all time! The fashion and costume designers modernizing the looks of the celebrated characters include Trina Turk, Donna Karan, BCBG Max Azria, Chris Benz, Jenny Packham, Marc Jacobs, Betsey Johnson, Lyn Paolo, and Anna Sui– and if the sketches are any indication, this doll collection just may be as covetable as Dorothy’s ruby red slippers themselves. Using elements from the movie, such as Dorothy’s gingham pinafore and the infamous (however, essential) tornado, the designers combined some of today’s greatest styles, including a peplum jumpsuit and eclecticism, into the sketches.

Kate Middleton pairs her Jenny Packham gown with the Queen’s diamonds, naturally
See more Kate Middleton style »
After two Kate Middleton-less months, our favourite duchess is finally back in the spotlight! Last night Kate attended a gala at the National Portrait Gallery, which is one of her official patronages, and the event was her first official engagement for 2014. Clearly we’re not the only ones taking note of all this official-ness: the Queen loaned Kate an impressive diamond necklace for the evening, one we’ve been fantasizing about since photos first emerged via the Twitter accounts of royal reporters.
The necklace (which looks like it would be right at home on the neck of another fabulous Elizabeth) was a wedding gift, given in 1947 from the Nizam of Hyderabad. Queen Elizabeth—who was just a princess at the time—selected the necklace from Cartier and it’s essentially diamonds on top of diamonds on top of even more diamonds, which is likely why it’s her favourite piece to wear for official portraits.

People’s Choice Awards 2014: Our top 10 picks from the red carpet
See the People’s Choice Awards 2014 Red Carpet »
Awards season is upon us, so you better get ready for an hit of jealously-inducing glamour and perhaps a cringe-worthy outfit or two.
Things kicked off last night in Los Angeles with the People’s Choice Awards 2014. The red carpet was slim with A-List celebrities and some of those who did turn up had questionable choices (Heidi Klum we’re looking at you) If anything, last night gave us hope that winter will soon be over, and we too, shall be able to sport bare legs and strapless dresses. Fingers crossed.
Sandra Bullock, who cleaned up huge taking home five awards, seemed to be over this whole polar vortex thing and donned a bright floral number with her covetable sleek hair. Both Allison Williams and Kaley Cuoco shone in cobalt blue, while Jessica Alba stuck to a white strapless dress with grommets down the side for added edge. Naya Rivera accessorized her dress with a new blonde do, and we have to admit she rocked it. To everyone’s delight, and frankly, surprise, Britney Spears seems back on top in a stunning sparkly mini by Canada’s own, Mikael D. We just hope she continues down this very fashionable road to redemption, we haven’t forgotten that denim disaster.

Kate Middleton stuns in an ink-blue Jenny Packham gown at the 100 Women in Hedge Funds Gala
See more Kate Middleton style »
Kate Middleton‘s cream-coloured Alexander McQueen look from Prince George’s christening has been front page news all week, which is perhaps why she swung the colour pendulum in the opposite direction for last night’s 100 Women in Hedge Funds Gala. Her Jenny Packham gown was the deepest shade of blue possible—so inky it read as black, save for a subtle shimmer caught by many a flashing camera.
The event was held at Kensington Palace, making it an easy commute for Kate, considering it’s now the Cambridges’ official residence. (Nothing says palace quite like “£60,000-a-table gala events are held in one wing and the future king’s five-bedroom apartment is in the other,” right?) Let’s take a moment to imagine Kate, gala-ready, rushing through the halls of Kensington Palace en route the event, basically like a scene from Beauty and The Beast. But! All Rebecca Deacon as Lumière jokes aside, let’s get back to talking about what Kate wore. While Kate frequently has designer pieces altered in colour or cut to suit her style, this Jenny Packham silk dress is right from the Fall 2013 runway.

TIFF 2013: Bring on the A-listers! 13 best dressed picks from the red carpets, parties and premieres
See the TIFF 2013 red carpet best dressed picks »
After ten days of red carpet premieres, after parties and celebrity stalking, TIFF 2013 has officially come to an end.
Possibly the best (and most well-dressed) year yet, Toronto had quite the roster of A-list celebrities in town to promote new films and projects. While the crush-worthy men looked as dapper as always, it was really the ladies who stole the show, bringing glamorous outfits onto the red carpet.
Cool blue tones were a favourite amongst the stars (possibly a nod to the emerging Spring 2014 trend?) with the colour appearing on Olivia Wilde, Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Aniston—to name a few.
And while celebrities like Taylor Swift, Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson opted for the minimalist yet sultry look in solid colours, how could anyone forget Keira Knightley’s whimsical printed dress by Mary Katrantzou.
Not ready to let go of TIFF just yet? From Nicole Kidman’s tailored pantsuit to Kate Winslet’s glowing pregnancy style, we’ve rounded up the top TIFF red carpet looks and all you have to do is vote for your favourite.

Kate Middleton wears shimmering silver Jenny Packham on the red carpet
After a jam-packed week of red carpets in Toronto, we thought that gala event fatigue was setting in. But leave it to Kate Middleton to shake things up: yesterday she attended the Tusk Conservation Awards in a shimmering Jenny Packham gown that would have been right at home on the TIFF red carpet. It was Will and Kate’s first evening out together since the birth of Prince George and the little royal got a shout out when his father spoke during the event: “’Catherine and I have recently become proud parents of a baby who has a voice to match any lion’s roar. This is our first evening out without him… please excuse us if you see us nervously casting surreptitious glances at mobiles.”
Adorable! But let’s get back to what Kate was wearing. While it’s known that the sequin-studded dress is Jenny Packham, die-hard Middleton fans have been debating which collection it’s actually from.

New York Fashion Week backstage beauty: 57 pictures of the best manicures and nail art from the Spring 2014 shows

The nails at New York Fashion Week were right in tune with the ’90s minimalism style we saw on the Spring 2014 runways. Sheer is in, colour is out and the nail art trend seems to be winding down. The bare and buffed nails of last spring are still going strong for 2014, with designers like Altuzarra, Alexander Wang and Jeremy Laing opting for pale shades of pink, lavender or beige instead of punchy pastels and neon brights.

Kate Winslet vs. Melissa George: Who did pregnant best on the TIFF 2013 red carpet?
See the pregnancy red carpet looks up close »
While the royal baby bump watch has sadly come to an end number of A-list stars have been seen flaunting their motherhood on the red carpet including two glowing mothers-to-be Kate Winslet and Melissa George at TIFF 2013 this past week.
Last Saturday, Kate Winslet arrived on the red carpet for the premiere of her film Labor Day looking absolutely radiant in a black floor-length gown by Jenny Packham. The bespoke dress featured a deep V-neckline and an empire waist with a Swarovski embellishment at the centre—a perfect showcase for a growing tummy. Winslet chose to keep her accessories at a minimum with a metallic box clutch, forest green pointed-toe heels and subtle silver and diamond jewellery. With a healthy, natural glow of an expecting mother-to-be, a no-fuss chignon with side-swept bangs and coral pink lips finished off her graceful red carpet look.

UPDATED: Kate Middleton and baby! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge debut their little prince outside the Lindo Wing
See this look in our Kate Middleton slideshow »
He’s here! He’s here! After about a day since being born, His Royal Highness the Prince of Cambridge aka. Royal Baby was debuted to a media mob outside the Lido Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in London just after 2pm EST. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were as photogenic and amiable as always (and matchy matchy in cornflower blue!), making our sappy royalist hearts swell even more with vicarious Royal Baby joy. The duo followed quite a similar course to what Prince Charles and Princess Diana did with Prince William back in 1982, though we can only estimate that the audience, and immediate attention has grown tenfold since. The duo gave some short interviews which include quips from Will: “He has her looks, thankfully. [He] has more hair than me” and “He’s got a good pair of lungs, that’s for sure. He’s a big boy. He’s quite heavy. We’re still working on a name.”
Catch up with the birth here »
As we reported earlier, a garment bag was delivered to the hospital for Kate which carried today’s outfit, a bespoke Jenny Packham blue polka dot crepe de chine dress and Pied a Terre Imperia wedges. In true symbolic Kate Middleton style, the dress matches the same shade and pattern as Diana’s did when she debuted Will 31 years ago in the same exact spot.
