Karl Lagerfeld has just released another short film featuring Dree Hemmingway and Abbey Lee taking a breather after a Chanel spree, hence the film’s title Shopping Fever. Of course, a Lagerfeld short wouldn’t be a Lagerfeld short without Baptiste Giabiconi smouldering expertly at the camera. [The Cut]

The fashion planets aligned in perfect unison for me to attend the most Parisian of fashion shows. Chanel+Haute Couture=dreams come true. The show was held yesterday at one of the city’s most majestic of buildings, the Grand Palais–it is a sight to behold from the moment one arrives. It’s easy to  become an expert at spotting the clients and celebrities. Clients are clad in Chanel head to toe, celebrities—among them Leighton Meester and Blake Lively, Milla Jovovich, Jessica Alba and the very French Cleménce Poésy–are surrounded by a sea of photographers.

According to Chanel fashion president Bruno Pavlovsky, haute couture is making its triumphant return after the recession. “We have new clients from Europe and the Middle East,” he says. “Today, we feel a new interest in haute couture.”[WWD]

Writer and designer Douglas Coupland is adding fashion designer to his already impressive resume. Roots has decided to expand their Canadiana by featuring a limited edition collection of pieces designed by Mr. Coupland. Dubbed Canada Goes Electric, the line includes T-shirts with TV test pattern bars and pixelated maple leaves that are sure to bring out your inner Microserf when they go on sale July 8. Photographs of Claudia Schiffer by Karl Lagerfeld for a Stern Fotographie 60th anniversary retrospective are being slammed as racially insensitive. In one image Schiffer is captured wearing black face, and in another the supermodel is made to look Asian.  “There are not enough women of colour featured in mainstream magazines,” said Shevelle Rhule, of Pride magazine in response to the pictures. “This just suggests you can counteract the problem by using white models.”  [Telegraph]

It’s the afternoon after the Chanel cruise show and the party animals are just beginning to stir.

In true St. Tropez form, Karl Lagerfeld threw a bash that went on into the wee hours, with free-flowing champagne, lots of Lady Gaga on the soundtrack, and models in full celebration mode (and flats) to fête Chanel makeup creative director Peter Phillips‘ birthday.

’80s super Beverly Peele is in “very serious condition” after a car crash last night in L.A. Peele’s daughter was also involved in the accident and both sustained multiple injuries. [TMZ]

Tyra Banks has just announced she will be writing trilogy of fantasy novels called Modelland. On her website, she promises the novels will take you to a “fantastical place you’ve never seen, or heard about, or read about before… Where dreams come true and life can change in the blink of a smoky eye.  ;)” Well that just about sums it up, Tye. Call it the Chanel invasion of St. Tropez. Hundreds of models, fashion editors and Chanel groupies have descended on this chic port town for the unveiling of the Chanel Cruise collection.

Last night guests battled it out in a petanque tournament [Ed: basically lawn bowling played on gravel] in the main square, Place des Lice, that followed a screening of a short film by Karl Lagerfeld.
