Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013: See-through trousers at Dries Van Voten, peplum hems (and a bit of Gaga) at Mugler, champagne with Eddie Borgo and more
It’s Paris. It’s raining. And the fashion cognoscenti are rethinking their footwear for Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013. Velvet slippers are out. And maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to leave the Hunter wellies at home. Here are some high and low lights from my first day in the city of light: Champagne with […]

Everything you need to know about Lady Gaga’s “Body Revolution” and why she’s fighting back at those who called her fat

Photography courtesy littlemonsters.com It was 25 pounds that tipped the scales and lead Lady Gaga to launch a “Body Revolution.” While performing in Amsterdam last week a set of less than flattering photos (that appeared to be extremely photoshopped) emerged from the concert. Within hours sensationalized headlines like ‘The fat Lady Gaga sings’ and ‘Porker Face’ started making the rounds, questioning Lady Gaga’s supposed weight gain. Given the singer’s longstanding—and very public—fight against bullying, it would be hard for Mother Monster to take these mean girl comments from the media lying down.
Which is probably why yesterday Lady Gaga launched The Body Revolution on her site LittleMonsters.com.

Exclusive: We talk with Lady Gaga about Fame, fragrance and why being from New York makes her scent the best (Plus: 16 photos of celebs at the Fame launch party!)

Masks, tattoos and Mother Monster asleep on a couch. The party for Lady Gaga’s new fragrance, Fame ($59, thebay.com), was indeed unlike any other perfume launch. But hours before she hosted a masquerade ball at New York’s Guggenheim that brought out the A-list (Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang) and the WTF List (Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton), Lady Gaga was wide awake to talk to FASHION about her post-sex rituals (pizza and a movie!), what the colour black means to her and why being a New Yorker makes her pop star perfume better than other celeb scents.
For someone who hasn’t yet smelled Fame, can you describe your fragrance?
“It’s very sexual, it’s very addictive, but it is very chic. The metaphor of the bottle is that when you spray this product, all the good things about fame come out, and all the bad things stay inside. So when you buy this perfume, you can have the lovely smell of it, [while] I’ll be dealing with all the bullshit inside.” -
Lana Del Rey debuts black hair that’s right on trend for fall

Photography by Ben Pruchnie/Getty Images What better time to try a darker hair colour than fall? Lana Del Rey debuted black hair at last night’s GQ Men of the Year Awards—a move that’s right in step with both runway and red carpet trends. Considering that Lady Gaga dubbed her own recent change to a darker hair colour “Louis Vuitton brown” what should Lana Del Rey label her own black hair?

Lady Gaga’s Fame fragrance goes even darker with two new sinister teaser videos

The videos play on the dark nature of Lady Gaga’s black-to-clear fragrance and feature sinister imagery that naturally includes lots of leather and latex.

What’s in your bag, Lauren Toyota?

Photography by Farzin Ghayour Today, we’re having a look inside the bag belonging to one of MuchMusic’s main gals, Lauren Toyota. As one of the hosts for shows like New.Music.Live and Today’s Top 10, Toyota’s fresh and enthusiastic attitude has made her a mainstay. And with pitch-perfect interviews with the likes of Lady Gaga, Kanye West and The Spice Girls under her belt, it’s no doubt she’s got chops to spare. So without further ado, what does a busy gal like Toyota tote along each and every day?

Nicki Minaj’s new perfume has a mini pink wig and will smell “like angels playing”

Image via Twitter/NickiMinaj While celebrities have always used Twitter as a way of reaching their fans directly, tweeting major announcements and exclusive sneak peeks are becoming more and more commonplace. (Case in point: Lady Gaga.) This morning Nicki Minaj tweeted the first picture of her forthcoming fragrance Pink Friday, and, as predicted, the fans went wild. The bottle may have something to do with it, though: modeled after Minaj it’s very Jem and the Holograms with a candy pink bob and gold vanity chain.

Lady Gaga continues to make us curious about Fame with a French art house-esque fragrance film
Just when you thought you had all the Lady Gaga news you could handle for the week, the shock-tastic chanteuse is keeping the hype surrounding her forthcoming fragrance Fame going with a just-released mini-film for the scent. The black and white “Formulation” is right on the heels of yesterday’s big unveil for her Steven Meisel-shot ad campaign, which shows a nude Gaga being trodden on by a group of tiny men.

Music festival style snaps: Pitchfork 2012

Photography by Lauren Baker Despite a torrential downpour and sticky sweaty temps, music lovers hit Chicago this weekend for the annual Pitchfork Music Festival to see Feist, Sleigh Bells, Grimes, Dirty Projectors, Vampire Weekend and more perform on stage. In and amongst the crowds, Toronto vintage gal Lauren Baker attempted to shoot some of the cutest gals (not an easy task amidst the rain!) Lady Gaga was spotted in the crowd as well, but alas, we didn’t snap her. Here are some of our Gaga-less faves.

They said/We said: Is Dolce & Gabbana’s “real men” runway show the newest form of street style?

Photography by Peter Stigter When Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana said they were taking inspiration from Sicily for their Spring 2013 men’s collection, they meant it quite literally. Seventy boys and men from the island, where the label is originally from, were plucked from the streets and brought over to Milan to walk in the duo’s garbs.
The scene on the runway was an overt nod to retro Sicily: lean, olive-skinned boys and moustached men alike took to the runway in an array of belted, high-waisted shorts, soft three-piece suits, carnival-striped shirts and souvenir prints. Though the collection itself has received mostly positive reviews, the fleet of Sicilians was definitely the most standout aspect of the entire show, offering an “authentic emotional punch” that had most of the industry captivated.
It’s no big secret that the fashion industry is on a never-ending search for “the next big thing,” something to shake jaded fashion watchers out of their doldrums and inject excitement into their ennui. Several years ago, style bloggers and street style photographers seemed to offer something more raw and authentic than the traditional fashion circuit, but as the popularity of blogging rose, its “edge” seemed to slowly wear off. Though fashion blogging is still alive and well, its novelty has waned. With street style photography, what used to be an unfiltered take on what real people were wearing on the streets has exploded into a veritable zoo during fashion weeks and outside of fashion hot spots.
