Front Row Battles: From Emma Stone and Dianna Agron at Miu Miu to Lana Del Rey and Alexa Chung at Mulberry, who did Spring 2013 FROW best?
Photography courtesy of Miu Miu Check out our front row pictures from Spring 2013 Fashion Week! »
Front row seating at the Spring 2013 Fashion Week collections has been an exciting who’s-who jumble of predictable favourites and amazing surprises this year.
Miu Miu’s Spring 2013 collection was presented today in Paris, with Glee’s Dianna Agron front and centre of the It girl mélage that came to check out Miuccia’s latest creations. Looking quite mod, she wore a ‘60s look of a turquoise dress, blue heels and purple tights, all by Miu Miu. Dianna Agron was seen with actress Amanda Seyfried who was wearing a Prada suit, Emma Stone and Felicity Jones both in Miu Miu and fashion week fixture and designer herself Chloë Sevigny. The girls looked like they were about star in the brand’s latest campaign, although Sevigny can already boast about that.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style: We spot Tyra Banks, Jessica Alba, Bart Simpson (prints) and Bill Cunningham petting adorable bulldogs!

The street style in and around the last two days of New York Fashion Week’s Spring 2013 shows were a frenzy of varsity jackets (Opening Ceremony), motorcycle jackets (Acne) see-through bags (from Kenzo to Claire’s) and Asian-inspired printed silks (Proenza Schouler, obv) jealousy-inducing heels (and even a few flats) as shot by our street style photographer Stefania Yarhi. Amidst the madness, Bill Cunningham was playing with some adorable bulldogs. You better bet we caught that too.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style: We spot Kirsten Dunst, Zosia Mamet,Tavi Gevinson and…the Jonas Brothers

From the city that never sleeps, it also seems that the fashion crowd never sleeps during fashion week, as photographer Stefania Yarhi has caught even more stylish ladies (and a few men!) outside the shows at New York Fashion Week Spring 2013.
The excitement was in the air as Hollywood’s elite sat in the coveted front row of Rodarte’s Spring 2013 show on Tuesday. Plunked beside Rachel Zoe and Anna Wintour in the front row was Kirsten Dunst (fresh from her visit to Toronto for TIFF to promote her upcoming film On the Road), who Yahri captured leaving the show wearing an on-trend cream and brown striped dress with lace and ruffles from Rodarte’s Fall 2012 collection.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013: Why J.Crew can do no wrong, plus our top 5 picks from yesterday’s shows
Photography by Peter Stigter It was a whirlwind day of running between shows and showrooms, but I’ve managed to suss out five of the best offerings of the day, beginning with the most unexpected one from Oscar de la Renta. From a man known for glamorous gowns and ladylike day-wear, it was a surprise to see Karlie Kloss open the show in a latex top and skin-tight pencil skirt. Clearly courting a younger contingent, uncharacteristically punky coloured streaks were added to wispy beehives and billowy shorts suits were on offer for evening. Is Oscar abandoning his core clientele? I seriously doubt it, but it’s always refreshing to see a designer throw us a curveball and stretch his style beyond the expected.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style: We spot Leigh Lezark, Doutzen Kroes and Kimora Lee Simmons in an H&M dress!
Photography by Stefania Yarhi Check out today’s street style photos from New York Fashion Week!»
Our go-to New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 street style photographer Stefania Yarhi has captured more fashion editors, models and celebrities from outside presentations from Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler among others.
It seems as though some of the stylish ladies that her lens captured are taking advantage of the warm September weather via their sartorial choices seen here. Vogue Japan editor Anna Dello Russo who has been making the rounds this Fashion Week Spring 2013 looked sleek and sexy in a form fitting short black dress, black sunglasses and gold jewellery that accented her golden summer tan, as did model Doutzen Kroes (who was spotted with Kate Bosworth at the Theyskens’ Theory show a few days ago) in a similar outfit of black tank top, shorts and sunglasses. Meanwhile, American Vogue editor Anna Wintour looked summery in a colourful printed dress, and Belgian model Hanne-Gaby Odiele seemed to think it’s still the middle of summer wearing white pants and a purple tie-dyed crop top (although if we had her stomach, we’d probably wear that all year round).

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style: We spot Victoria Beckham, Jenna Lyons and the Courtin-Clarins girls
Photography by Stefania Yarhi Check out the street style photos from New York Fashion Week!»
Next up in our street style coverage of New York Fashion Week, our resident street style photographer Stefania Yarhi has captured more of the fashion flock from outside the shows on Sunday. Yarhi’s savvy camera skills caught the likes of Victoria Beckham (who chatted with us back in August), outside after her Spring 2013 show who looked as chic as ever in all black shorts, T-shirt (likely of her own design) and sunglasses. Also snapped: the enviously impeccable Courtin-Clarins girls looking as chic as ever with Claire wearing a black and burgundy long-sleeved dress, Prisca in a white dress, Virginie in a black shirt, and long blue and white striped skirt, and Jenna in a long sleeved printed dress on the streets of New York. J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons looked quite serious while taking a call, wearing a slick grey blazer and white pants. Model Erin Wasson who seemed to be in a hurry, was snapped in a grey button up and holding a furry (real or fake?) purse.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013: Karlie Kloss bakes cookies at DKNY, Naomi Campbell walks Zac Posen and more!
Coco Rocha at Zac Posen's Spring 2013 fashion show shot by Peter Stigter Blogger Bryanboy wins the biggest try-hard award. Wearing Alexander McQueen‘s mirrored visor, printed Prada brogues and a neon lime fur camera strap, he’s only an it-bag away from completef must-have overload.
Victoria Beckham‘s collections keep getting better and better. With husband David Beckham beaming from the front row, her new take on tailoring expands her offering beyond the beautiful, but now expected body-con dresses, into tailored separates territory. A pimento mini skirted suit and simple long-sleeve car coat stood out among the otherwise black and white palette.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013: Dispatches and celeb sightings from a fashion week newbie
Lynn Yaeger and Bill Cunningham shot by Skip Bolen/Getty Images Things I learned today at my first day at the shows: Saturday mornings get off to a slow start. That doesn’t mean that the front row isn’t glossy-haired and well-heeled, but it’s certainly a smaller, sleepier crowd at the tents for 9am.
Weather is a major player. Alternating between scorching, humid sun and torrential downpours, unpredictable September weather wreaked havoc on show schedules with delays holding up start times across the city.
It’s fun to ogle Hollywood celebrities in the front row (Kate Bosworth, Mamie Gummer, Jessica Chastain and Kris Humphries—does he count?—were all spotted in FROW today), but the really exciting people watching comes courtesy of the fashion editors, buyers, bloggers and photographers who are dressed to impress. The Prabal Gurung show only started once Bill Cunningham found his seat.

Toronto is joining the ranks of New York, London and Milan: IMG Fashion has bought Toronto’s World MasterCard Fashion Week
Photography by Lewis Mirrett It’s hard to believe that in the space of 13 years, Robin Kay has taken Toronto Fashion Week from a single-sponsor, $25K-budgeted event to the second largest fashion week in all of North America. With today’s huge news that IMG Canada (in collaboration with IMG Fashion) has bought World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto, it truly seems like the event has fully come into its own.

They said/We said: Why Katie Holmes might be ramping up her fashion career in the midst of her high-profile divorce
Photography by James Devaney/WireImage Whatever your opinion of Katie Holmes might be, you have to give it to her: she doesn’t waste time moping after a breakup. While most of us would have maybe made it to our fourth Ben & Jerry’s bucket and gotten halfway through season six of Sex and the City (“The Post-it Always Sticks Twice!”), since announcing her impending divorce last week the soon-to-be-former Mrs. Tom Cruise has already taped an episode for Project Runway, landed herself on the cover of Elle and finalized plans for the debut of her Holmes & Yang line (with stylist partner Jeanne Yang) at New York Fashion Week this September.
In fact, it seems like now more than ever, Holmes is really kicking her fashion career into high gear. It kind of has us wondering: was this all a strategic move on Holmes’ part? After having played the role of demure, loyal wife to the charismatic Tom Cruise for five years, could it be that Holmes had plans to break out on her own all along?
If her upcoming August feature with Elle is anything to go off, she may have been planning the divorce shocker for a while. The New York Post managed to cull a couple quotes from the feature, including this particularly telling reflection:
“I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin,” Holmes apparently said. “I feel sexier. I think in my 20s, it’s like you’re trying too hard to figure everything out . . . I’m starting to come into my own. It’s like a new phase.”
A new phase that will evidently leave everyone’s favourite couch jumper in the dust. Holmes also hinted that Cruise’s star power may have been more of a hindrance rather than a help for her own career, saying, if anything “you work a little bit harder when you’re in such visible circumstances.”
Strategic timing or not, the fashion crowd is notoriously tough to please, so the real fashion test for the soon-to-be-singleton will be at NYFW this September. Until then, we can all keep ourselves entertained with round-the-clock TomKat updates (our personal favourite rumour so far: that Holmes had to audition to be Cruise’s wife).
