Party snaps! The Bay’s over-the-top ode to Anna Dello Russo and Tommy Ton
Should you ever find yourself in a similar predicament, the most appropriate way to fête an international fashion superstar in the hometown of her photog paramour would be to roll out the leopard carpet, send in the trannies and keep the bubbly flowing until a dance party ensues amidst racks of designer duds.

Five photographers take on the calla lily for the launch of Cavin Klein Beauty
One understands the loveliness of the calla lily, its austerity offset with swooping curves. Keep in mind Diane Kruger, sleek in stark white Calvin Klein, at the Met gala in May, and you have a picture of how the flower fits into the Calvin Klein brand and became the inspiration for Beauty, its latest scent, for which the actress is the face.
The fragrance launched in Toronto last week with a soirée at the Terrace Room at the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art. To celebrate the launch, FASHION (sponsor of the event) commissioned five photographers–Caitlin Cronenberg, Karen Roze, Jody Rogac, Natasha V. and Davida Nemeroff–to interpret the calla lily in their own style.

TIFF party talk: Peaches Geldof talks Karl Lagerfeld, post-modernism and, um, Legend of Zelda
When it comes to a party with on-site battle tag without being a 12th birthday party, who would be a better fit to to DJ than Peaches Geldof?
Her name doesn’t come without mild (okay, major) undertones of her extreme hipster-ness, It girl-ness, and–dare we say it– riding on daddy’s fame-ness, but if you’ve looked at her Twitter feed lately you’d know that at heart she’s just a nerd with a deep affinity for 2001: A Space Odyssey.

TIFF party pics: Pierre Bergé and YSL muses Loulou de la Falaise and Betty Catroux at the premiere of L’amour fou
It is a rare occasion indeed for Torontonians to rub shoulders with a fashion titan like Yves Saint Laurent‘s longtime partner, and co-ounder of YSL Rive Gauche, Pierre Bergé. But rub shoulders they did–an elite group, anyway–at the after party for the world premiere of Pierre Thoretton‘s documentary, L’amour fou. The film, which traces Saint Laurent’s career through the lens of his relationship with Bergé, and the ultimate auctioning off of their collection of art, furniture and objets, features extensive conversations with Bergé, as well as talks with the designer’s muses Loulou de la Falaise and Betty Catroux, who were staples on the Paris fashion scene.

TIFF snaps: M.I.A. pauses, ever so briefly, for our cameras at the Roosevelt Room
M.I.A.’s in town supporting Our Day Will Come by Romain Gavras, the same French director who did her creepy ginger genocide vid for Born Free. After the premiere the crew headed to the Roosevelt Room for an after party, but M.I.A. wasn’t in much of a mood to stop and chat. Makes sense, if the […]

TIFF buzz: Milla Jovovich ditches her own premiere, Geoffrey Rush in Parkdale and paramedics at 127 Hours premiere
Moments after appearing on the red carpet for Stone, Milla Jovovich and Robert De Niro sneaked out the back of the theatre at their own premiere. [Toronto Life]
Just when you think your evening is a bust, you just might run into Geoffrey Rush at Parkdale watering hole Salvador Darling. Mr. Rush met the bar’s owner in the Caribbean, stopped by for a drink, and bought this lucky blogger a dirty martini and split a cig with her outside. [She Does The City]

TIFF weekend roundup: Check out our celeb gossip and party pics
We spent the weekend hopping from party to vodka-soaked party (really, it appeared that every grain alcohol company in existence threw a TIFF bash) to keep tabs the celebs that have infiltrated the city. Read on for what Carey Mulligan wore to the hottest party of the weekend, Martin Sheen flashing his underpants, our many […]

TIFF party pics: Martin Sheen shows us his underwear and Paul Haggis kisses Josh Brolin
Seeing jokester Paul Haggis kissing Josh Brolin is almost too good to be true. Seeing this the same evening as Martin Sheen showing cameras his underwear just isn’t fair.
The red carpet at the the Artists for Peace and Justice Fundraiser for Haiti event last night at the Toro After Dark space was, without a doubt, the most fun step and repeat in the city. Haggis turned to Brolin to give him a big smoocher on the mouth, which was followed by Brolin exclaiming, “that’s it, my career is OVER!”
This was probably the second best moment of the evening, which was promptly followed by Martin Sheen being encouraged to show us his Ellen Degeneres-gifted briefs–in exchange for a $1,000 donation to Haiti. To his publicist’s utter chagrin (who, for the record, was somewhat like a real life Lloyd from Entourage) he turned around, undid belt, dropped a bit of trou, turned back and showed us those briefs. But it’s for a good cause right?

TIFF party pics: Carey Mulligan, Marion Cotillard and James Franco at the Vanity Fair bash
The Thompson hotel hosted a blockbuster line-up of celebs last night for the Fox Searchlight/Belvedere/Vanity Fair party. Carey Mulligan arrived fresh from the Never Let Me Go premiere, sporting a starry Christopher Kane dress with a zip-on panel at the bottom. Though she was gone by the time we arrived, Marion Cotillard made an appearance, […]

TIFF party pics: Emily Hampshire, Rachel Blanchard, and Juliette Lewis in emerald Dolce at the Alliance bash
Last night Alliance hosted a bash for Toronto industry insiders and visiting talent to sling back a couple of cocktails under the shadow of the appropriately shiny Scotia Bank tower.
Who did we see? There were rumours of Clive Owen and David Schwimmer, but alas, no. We did however get Juliette Lewis, who’s in town supporting Conviction with Hilary Swank. You could tell she was there as an actress, rather than rock star by her teeny tiny emerald green Dolce & Gabbana. She gushed to red carpet reporters about loving TIFF for how laid back it is. Yeah, we get that a lot.

Party pics: See our favourite looks from Holt Renfrew’s Tommy Ton fête
A party at Holt Renfrew in honour of shoes and a fashion blogger almost sounds too cliché to be true. It probably would be if Holt Renfrew couldn’t pull that kind of thing off (which they did) and if the attendees weren’t suckers for shoes (which we are).
