Rick Owens is designing shoes for Adidas so he has something stylish to work out in
Earlier this year, Paris based designer Rick Owens decided to take up running, only to realize he didn’t have cool enough footwear to complement his cardio ambitions. “What shoes am I going to wear running?’ I can’t wear my big chunky basketball shoes — I’d look like a dinosaur running through the Tuileries.” Quelle horreur! His design instincts told him to take matters into his own hands. A quick call to Adidas was made and voila: Rick Owens for Adidas.
Announced yesterday on WWD, the new sneaker line will include six styles for men and four for women. There will be leather, suede and other Rick Owens signatures including a colour palette of black, grey and maybe a teeny splash of colour.

Gwyneth Paltrow vs. Jennifer Aniston: Who wore Dior best?
As Raf Simons continues to define Dior‘s 21st century aesthetic, celebrities are becoming more and more receptive to his streamlined designs. Case in point: A-listers like Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston. Both actresses both wore Dior at different events on Tuesday. Brad history aside, we couldn’t help comparing the two.
Gwyneth Paltrow wore Dior Tuesday while she was in London to promote her new film Iron Man 3 at a photo-call. She chose a more classic Dior look, wearing a black and white Dior wool dress with silk velvet details. With co-star Robert Downey Jr. at her side, Paltrow showed off her gorgeous legs in the elegant dress that she paired with two-tone Manolo Blahnik heels. Paltrow is currently on a press tour for the film, and we have to say that this may be one of her best looks yet.
Jennifer Aniston was at the premiere of Lifetime’s Call Me Crazy: A Five Film in Los Angeles, where she wore a Dior black silk bustier and matching black shorts. The look was accessorized with a Tom Fold clutch, Jimmy Choo heels and a tousled updo with side swept bangs. Reaction to this look has been mixed. While some appreciate Aniston’s willingness to take a risk, others feel that the short shorts were a bit over-the-top and the look was too far outside of her comfort zone. But we were happy to see her try something different from the little black dresses she often wears.

Beyoncé on Inauguration Day: Queen Bey stuns in a Pucci dress, Christian Dior coat and Lorraine Schwartz emeralds
See Beyoncé’s Inauguration Day dress and jewels up-close »
It’s Inauguration Day for Barack Obama and our American friends across the border today and with that pomp, ceremony and history making underway, we’ve got our eyes peeled for the important things. As ever, Michelle Obama made yet another A+ statement, wearing a blue checked Thom Browne coat, J.Crew belt, gloves and shoes (later she changed into an amazing pair of custom Reed Krakoff boots). Those brand new blunt bangs were once again in focus, and surer than ever to spark a few years of copycat cuts. Free of the red and blue dress code, Malia and Sasha Obama made fashion statements of their own, in pink J.Crew and purple Kate Spade coats respectively.

Blush Hour: We rethink pink with our Winter Issue photo shoot inspired by one of the season’s most unexpected trends
View the Blush Hour photo shoot »
See this trend within our Fall/Winter 2012 trends guide »It’s time to rethink pink. No longer just a little girl hue, pastel pink has become one of Fall/Winter 2012’s most important and unexpected trends. Best done by Raf Simons with his farewell collection for Jil Sander, the shade has been popping up everywhere, from the red carpet to the front cover of our current issue starring Coco Rocha. In this photo shoot from our Winter Issue, we take pink for a ride on model Madelen de la Motte with mannish coats, sculpted leathers and more. Looks like fashion’s most innocent pastel shade has adopted a grown-up attitude.

Christian Dior Spring 2013 Ad Campaign: See the first photos under Raf Simons’ direction
View the Christian Dior Spring 2013 Ad Campaign »
Christian Dior‘s first ready-to-wear ad campaign under the direction of Raf Simons hit the web this week. And while the images are different from what Dior has done in the past, they are just as eye-catching as Simons’ Spring 2013 runway collection that debuted at Paris Fashion Week last fall.
Photographed by Willy Vanderperre, the campaign has all the Raf Simons hallmarks: understated but with a sense of surreal-ness. Opting to part with John Galliano-favourite Karlie Kloss as campaign frontwoman, Simons opted for a group of lesser known models including Daiane Conterato, Anna Martynova, Daria Strokous, and Marie Piovesan.

Top 10 Fashion Influencers of 2012: We count down the biggest and best moments from Raf to Rihanna and back again
By Randi Bergman and Meredith Gillies
2012 has been quite the year. We’ve waited for Carly Rae Jepsen’s phone to ring since what feels like forever, we developed major girl crushes on Girls director/writer, Lena Dunham, and we felt like we’d never be as cool as Azealia Banks. Jepsen, Banks and Dunham may have rocked our worlds this year, but in the world of fashion, important things that have gone down too. There have been soaring highs, crashing lows, and shocking changes for celebrities, designers and even journalists.
Designer shifts at Balenciaga and Dior that are just a sampling of what seems like an endless list of fashion shakeups that went down over the past 12 months including Stefano Pilati and Hedi Slimane at Yves Saint Laurent, YSL becoming simple Saint Laurent Paris and more. And speaking of shakeups, Kristen Stewart’s rise from a teen queen to a heartbreaking fragrance face has been epic to say the least. So let’s look back, reflect, and count down together the events that made 2012 so real.

Kristen Stewart has legs for days at the Twilight Breaking Dawn Part Two Madrid premiere
See Kristen Stewart’s two Madrid premiere looks »
If this week were the record, we’d be sure that Kristen Stewart could do no wrong on the red carpet. Her last two appearances at the Twilight Breaking Dawn: Part Two premieres in Los Angeles and London, were a time to show off skin in lacy Zuhair Murad numbers. And yesterday in Madrid, she’s done it again. Beginning with a slightly more covered up look at the photo call early in the day, she returned to skin flaunting by nightfall.
Yesterday morning, instead of showing skin, the young Hollywood starlet wore an illusion dress from London designer, Julien Macdonald. The two-tone navy and white dress has intricate beading along the neckline that gives the appearance of wearing a bib necklace and also of having the perfect hourglass body shape. She kept the look simple with a strappy pair of Jerome Rousseau sandals and a bent nail bracelet. Keeping with the beauty regime of yesterday’s red carpet appearance, she kept her hair in natural messy curls and an almost makeup-less face.

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013: What to do when you’re caught between the paparazzi and Jennifer Lopez and notes from Valentino, Chanel and Dior
See more Spring 2013 photos from Chanel, Valentino and Dior »
If you value your footwear (and your toes, for that matter) do not stand anywhere near Jennifer Lopez.
I learned this today as I was making my way to my seat at the Valentino show in a tent in the Tuileries. I have witnessed paparazzi frenzies many times in my career but there is a particularly panic that sets in when J.Lo is in the ‘hood. The freelance photographers can sniff a guaranteed money shot. The staff photographers know they will face the wrath of their editors if they come back empty handed.
Either way, they are all in battle mode.

See the latest street style photos from Paris!
If you’re having a case of the Mondays, today’s edition of street style photos from Paris Fashion Week will definitely be the cure. This weekend our street style photographer Stefania Yarhi has captured 50 plus photos from outside the tents, including a mix of celebrities, editors, and all-around well-dressed folks.
The rapper behind the song Christian Dior Denim Flow—that is, Kanye West—made quite the appearance outside Dior cloaked in very on-trend tuxedo jacket paired with a heavy gold chain (Kim Kardashian for once wasn’t his accessory du jour). We also spotted Carine Roitfeld, Olivia Palermo and Leigh Lezark outside Dior—which, given that it was Raf Simons first ready-to-wear collection for the brand, was one of the more buzzed about shows.
