It turns out that it wasn’t designers who were up in arms over Anna Wintour missing their shows at Milan fashion week, but Wintour herself. The fashion legend reportedly asked that the fashion week be shortened to three days so that she could attend all the shows, causing a stir in the Italian fashion world. The city’s mayor made a statement, saying: “Nobody, not even if her name is Anna Wintour, can take the liberty to do and undo our fashion calendar.” [WWD]

In the wake of Alexander McQueen‘s death, the question of “what now” is obviously on everyone’s mind. While long-term plans remain unknown, his upcoming Paris show is supposedly still scheduled to be presented. The collection was apparently completed a week prior to the designer’s death, and sources say that there is no change to the delivery dates of showpieces commissioned specifically for the runway. In honour of the UK-based store Liberty of London‘s Carnaby Street location, the brand is using two of their best-known floral prints-the Bounty and the Santa Maria-and covering a pair of their signature heels with the prints. Fingers crossed these styles make their way across the pond. [Fashionista]
Recent attempts made by the trendy label Modern Amusement, including the departure of it’s CEO and company-wide layoffs, weren’t enough to save the brand. The company known best for it’s crow logo has has shut down operations, leaving boutiques and department stores without their spring shipments. [WWD]

Tavi charms Elijah Wood and everyone else in her Rodarte x Target video
Putting aside for a moment our reservations about the current teen blogger hysteria (Tavi at CDG! Sea of Shoes at the Crillon Ball!) we find this video that the aforementioned Tavi created for Rodarte’s Target collab to be pretty endearing. The Style Rookie blogger/Rodarte BFF captured the campaign shoot in North Dakota (where her mom sang Norwegian lullabies) and the widely-leaked preview at New York’s Gagosian Gallery, where Tavi charmed Elijah Wood and offered up commentary on her favourite pieces from the collection–among them a mustard-coloured lace sweater which she “might wear every day, which is kind of gross.” Spoken like a true 13-year-old. Ruffian designs Anthropologie line, Burberry gets digital, and celebrity designers in trouble
Burberry is hopping on the social-media bandwagon with their Burberry Prorsum runway show. It will be simulcast live from London Fashion Week at live.burberry.com at 1:30 p.m. EST today. The brand recently launched Facebook and Twitter accounts, and is set to create a site called “Art of the Trench,” where loyal fans can contribute photos of themselves in their classic nova-check coats. Celebrity clothing lines are being hit hard by the recession. Anna Wintour, and we’re sure many others, is pleased by the economic situation, saying it will weed out the weak. “Every D-level celebrity who thought they could make a quick buck by designing a handbag or whatever is going to disappear,” she said. Stars who don’t seem to have staying power (at least in the design world) include Justin Timberlake, Lauren Conrad and Jennifer Lopez. [WSJ]

Video: Rodarte Spring 2010
Rodarte’s Mulleavy sisters, arbiters of creepy cool, sent an apocalyptic collection out the door yesterday–quite a change from the girly hues and ruffles we’ve been looking at so far this week. We’re not sure if they’ve been reading The Road, but the shredded and burned fabrics draped into their now familiar short, piecey dresses wouldn’t […]
