13 looks from Pre-Fall 2016 that you can recreate right now
Since many of us may be looking for something to distract from the fact that winter vaca is over, may we suggest the delightful Pre-Fall collections? Like the amuse-bouche of fashion, Pre-Fall is a time for designers to flex their commercial muscles, while giving us a sneak peek of what’s going to hit runways in […]

8 hot new denim trends, 56 ways to wear them
There’s no denying it, jeans are a closet essential. They’re the first date go-to, the Sunday morning brunch uniform and the casual Friday staple. They survive suitcase abuse, concert dance marathons and nights out paired with the spindliest stilettos. Dress them up, or dress them down, denim will always hold a place in our hearts […]

Spring Fashion 2015: 189 photos of the top 10 trends of the season
The nostalgic nineties may have transfixed us for the past seasons, but come Spring 2015, fashion’s got an all-new decade of choice. Let’s hear it for bellbottoms, sexy silks and peasant blouses because the seventies are back. And while disco may be the first image that comes to mind when thinking ‘70s style, this season’s […]

Colour is king at Paris Fashion Week: The 4 bold hues we spotted on the first day of Spring 2015 shows
It’s no secret that black is fashion’s fallback shade. Instantly slimming and eternally chic, Paris’ front row remains filled with fail-safe dark outfits (despite the sunny forecast, editors are in head-to-toe leather looks). Even baby North West was spotted bouncing on mom Kim’s lap in Balenciaga‘s front row with a tiny black Yeezus tee and leather […]

Paris Fashion Week: Seasonless dressing makes a comeback for Fall 2014
See the looks from Paris Fashion Week Fall 2014 »
There has been talk of seasonless dressing for, well, seasons, but at Friday’s shows and appointments, it seemed as though designers were foregoing traditional winter palettes and shapes in favour of short sleeves and sherbet shades. Don’t get me wrong, there were still plenty of furs, leathers and heavy wools, but arming ourselves against the raw winter elements is seeming less and less important. Maybe it’s because when these clothes start filling the racks in late August, the thermometer still reads 30 degrees? Whatever the reason, I’m calling out the springer side of fall shown here at Paris Fashion Week.
More than half of the looks in Roland Mouret‘s 41 look Fall 2014 collection were sleeveless (and I’m not even counting the short and sheer sleeved outfits). Among them were crop tops, exposed shoulders and mesh-panelled backs. The lightness of feather appliqués also seemed like a typically fair weather detail.

Venice Film Festival 2013: Our top 10 best dressed from the first week of red carpets, parties and photo calls
See the Venice Film Festival 2013 images »
It’s only a week into the 70th annual Venice Film Festival and the stars are bringing their sartorial A-game. To help us keep track of the endless red carpet premieres, photo-calls and press conferences, we’re rounding it up with 10 of our favourite fashion looks so far. With TIFF coming up this week, we’re getting a good idea of what the celebrities are bringing to the red carpet and let’s just say, we’re not worried at all.
We’re used to seeing Sandra Bullock playing it safe with monochromatic tones on the red carpet, and so it was a breath of fresh air to see the Oscar-winning actress in two colourful ensembles last week. Arriving in style, Bullock wore a colourblock dress by Alex Perry and Giuseppe Zanotti heels at the photo call for her film Gravity. Later in the evening, she left us speechless at the opening ceremony in a red strapless silk gown by J. Mendel from the Resort 2014 collection as she completed the outfit with Martin Katz jewellery and Roger Vivier black clutch and ankle-strap sandals.

They said/We said: Sonia Rykiel reveals she has been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for the past 15 years
Paris’s longtime queen of knitwear Sonia Rykiel revealed today that she has been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for the past 15 years. The reveal comes direct from Rykiel’s just-released-in-France book N’Oubliez Pas Que Je Joue (translation: Don’t Forget It’s a Game) co-authored by French journalist Judith Perrignon. Rykiel had decided to speak out because she could no longer mask the symptoms of the degenerative disorder.
In the book, Rykiel assigns the code ”P de P” (“Putain de Parkinson” or “bitch of Parkinson’s” in English) to the disease, amidst frank writing about living with it. She reveals that for years, her colleagues at her fashion house (which her daughter Nathalie took helm of in 1995) helped keep the secret by attempting to prevent photographs from being taken of her using her walking cane. “I don’t want to show my pain. I resisted, I hesitated, I tried to be invisible, to pretend that nothing was wrong. It’s impossible; it’s not like me,” she writes.
Whether it was done to hide her pain or an attempt to protect her resilient image, the sad secret couldn’t have been easy to keep. We applaud Rykiel’s bravery and hope her story will help raise awareness to the importance of finding a cure to make Parkinson’s a thing of the past.

PFW Style Snaps: We spot Charlotte Dellal, Aline Weber, and Emmanuelle Alt outside Sonia Rykiel
Judging by all the coatless wonders skulking around outside the shows this weekend, we’d say that things are heating up in Paris. But alas, the 4°C readout on our screens says otherwise. If fashion week has taught us anything, it’s that you dress for the cameras despite those frigid temps.
