The new metallic: 8 Style Panel tips for wearing the trend this spring
If the Spring 2013 runways were any indication, we’ve got plenty reason to experiment with the metallic trend. Taking a cue from collections such as Dior, Burberry, Jonathan Saunders and Diane Furtesnberg, the now classic trend was given new life with colour strokes, stripes, floral prints appearing in rainbow shades on everything from full skirted gowns to bomber jackets.
And while the coloured metallic trend was at its hottest this season, it seems as if our Style Panel is more comfortable with keeping it old school. With the exception of panelist Zoe Smythe’s sky blue sequin shorts, the rest of the group showed off how to work tried and tested metals such as gold, silver and rosegold into otherwise matte outfits. So without further ado, let the metal games begin!

Ashley Benson vs. Selena Gomez: Whose hair and makeup was best at the Spring Breakers SXSW premiere
See more photos from the Spring Breakers SXSW premiere »
Known for her role as the popular blonde in Pretty Little Liars, Ashley Benson debuted newly-dyed brown hair this weekend at the SXSW premiere of Spring Breakers in Austin, Texas. It’s not easy to transition from blonde to brunette, but the colour looks natural on Benson (so, maybe it is?) especially when compared side-by-side with her Spring Breakers co-star, Selena Gomez. Gomez always wears her long, raven-to-chestnut ombre coloured hair well, and opted for loose waves with a side-part at the Spring Breakers party.
Ashley Benson, on the other hand, may still be getting used to her new colour, as she kept her hair up, styled in a messy bun. However the real glamour to her look came courtesy of the cobalt-blue eye makeup, which included heavy undereye liner that diffused into a smoky look across her lids. (Blue eyeshadow is on trend this spring, after all!) Selena Gomez was also wearing a smoky eye—though hers was a deeper shade of navy that almost looked black. Just like Benson, Gomez had a heavily lined undereye, but pulled it into more of a cat-eye shape on her upper eyelid. And were the starlets sharing a lip colour? Ashey Benson and Selena Gomez both wore a similar shade of peachy-pink lipstick.

16 reasons why we still love nail art
There’s some debate right now as to whether nail art is still thriving as one of the biggest cosmetic trends. One one hand (see what we did there?) new nail art polishes, products and tools are being released almost every single day. On the other, when it comes to runways and red carpets, we didn’t see as many nail art designs this season as we have in the past. Whatever the trend, we’re still in love with nail art and it seems like most of the internet is too. Read on for some of the best tutorials and news stories that we’ve come across this week—and see how long you can resist reaching for a bottle of nail polish.

Ankle strap heels and sandals: 13 shopping picks and 3 key styling tips for wearing this hot shoe trend
Shop our 13 ankle strap heels and sandals »
Ah, the ankle strap. For many shoe styles, it is just a necessity—a thin piece of leather that keeps your foot from stepping out of your shoe—but this season, it’s become trendy. Why? For starters, let’s look back to the Spring 2013 runways, where ankle strap heels and sandals were seen in a multitude of variations.
At Bottega Veneta, chunky platforms in dark textured leathers were made feminine with the addition of the ankle strap. At Burberry Prorsum, wedges in bright colours were showcased in different materials with a very thin ankle strap and high back to cover the heel. Almost the entire cast of models at Nina Ricci were seen in beautiful single soled high heels with two thin straps-one across the toes and one around the ankle.
