They said/We said: Want to look like a Victoria’s Secret Angel? Adriana Lima shares her intense diet leading up to the annual show
The question of what or even whether models eat is nothing new and when asked, models usually give the standard answer, “anything I want,” and are sure to mention pizza or burgers. So it’s (kind of) refreshing that Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima has been so blunt when talking about her diet leading up to the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airing on November 29.
Millions watch the angels walk the coveted runway wearing barely there lingerie, so it’s not surprising that Lima has been working with a trainer since August (she’s since increased her workouts to twice a day). During her training a nutritionist also prescribes the right protein shakes, vitamins, and supplements to keep her energy up and Lima will drink a gallon of water a day. Nine days before the show, Lima will only drink protein shakes that include powdered eggs (yum). Two days before the show she’ll drink “normally” instead of a gallon of water and, finally, 12 hours before the show she’ll stop drinking all together.
The intense diet matches the over-the-top show that Victoria’s Secret puts on every year. While all of the angels look amazing, we’re not sure we’re ready to give up solid food for powdered eggs.

They said/We said: Nicki Minaj and Prince will be performing at Versace for H&M launch next week
Photography by Christopher Polk/Getty Images In a merging of all things wonderful, we are thrilled to report that the musical guests at the Versace for H&M launch in New York on Tuesday night will be none other than Nicki Minaj and Prince. The equally flamboyant performers are just a hint of what amazingness we’re in store for, and if H&M’s last blowout fashion show was any indication, we’re in for a three-pronged treat. Seriously. If a duet of “Super Bass” or “Purple Rain” actually happens, we just might explode.

They said/We said: Madonna’s second line, Truth or Dare, will launch in 2012
Madonna is like the gift that keeps on giving, and this time around she’s giving to the fashion world. After the success of her Material Girl line with daughter Lola, Madge is launching her own lifestyle brand called Truth or Dare.
The line will be geared towards Madonna’s core constituency of fans, women ages 27–50, and will showcase “the duality of [Madonna’s] image, a power icon intertwined with feminine beauty.” A little tough girl mixed with her recent preference of a more demure style? Sounds perfect.
Next year will bring a fragrance and accessories line, including footwear and handbags, and an intimates collection will later follow—which we assume won’t include any Gaultier-inspired cone bras.

They said/We said: Lady Gaga is larger than life (literally) on the cover of Visionaire’s newest $1,500 issue
Photography by Inez & Vindoodh for Visionaire Magazine Known for her crazy outfits and antics—like showing up to the Grammys in an egg—we aren’t shocked by Lady Gaga’s cover for the newest issue of Visionaire Magazine. Styled by her BFF Nicola Formichetti, she appears as an oil-slicked mermaid—standard fare for the pop star, really. What is outrageous, however, is the magazine’s literal take on the issue’s theme of larger than life. The deluxe issue measures in at 5×7 feet (yes, that’s taller than the average human) and costs a cool $1,500. (The standard issue is a measly 3×4 feet in size, and much more affordable.) It should go without saying the size has broken a Guinness World Record.

They said/We said: Kate Middleton snubbed by the British Fashion Council! As if!
Photography by Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images Though fashion critics gushed over her wedding dress, thousands flocked to see it in real life, and pieces by designers like Erdem instantly sell out after she’s seen in them, Kate Middleton was overlooked by the British Fashion Council when they announced their shortlist for the 2011 British Style Icon award. As if!
Who was included? Alexa Chung, Lara Stone, Florence Welch, and Victoria Beckham. Sure all of these Brits have It-girl appeal, but none has the extensive coverage surrounding their every outfit as Kate. Outraged by the snub, Telegraph UK encouraged readers to vote on the BFC’s website to include Kate. As of post time, her die-hard fans have spoken and Kate is included in the shortlist.
Ironically, Harper’s Bazaar UK has published their Britain’s 10 best-dressed list today and who else is at the top of the list? Kate, natch. We’re not sure why the duchess was initially left out, but if royal watchers have anything to say about it, she’ll have the award in the bag.

They said/We said: Fashion royalty romance gossip, Gucci-style
Patrizio Di Marco and Frida Giannini Photo by WireImage We got a serious case of the awws when we read that Frida Giannini and Patrizio di Marco, Gucci’s creative director and CEO, respectively, have outed their relationship to the world after more than two years of dating. Workplace romances can be risky, but after a fateful business trip to China, the two knew that it was a risk they were willing to take.
It seems like they went about their “coming out” in all the right ways: they separately met with François-Henri Pinault, the chief executive of PPR (which owns Gucci), to admit the affair—aware that they might lose their jobs—but luckily, Pinault was “very supportive.” They told the rest of the company before the rest of the world, and we’re hoping that everyone’s as supportive as we are.

They said/We said: Jenna Lyons’ business is all over the web
News and gossip can walk a fine line, especially in cases like wonder-woman Jenna Lyons’ recent love life. Nothing has been confirmed, but we are reading about it everywhere, and everyone wants to weigh in.Lyons is splitting from her husband Vincent Mazeau and, allegedly, things are getting messy. As executive creative director of J.Crew, Lyons brings home a sizeable paycheque, while her estranged husband “gave up aggressively pursuing his career as an artist to stay at home and allow her to develop her successful career.” (It’s kind of nice hearing it this way around sometimes, isn’t it?) From what the gossip mill has told us, Mazeau wants the house and a sizeable settlement, and there’s been a serious custody battle going on over their son (the seriously cute, famously pink-toenailed) Beckett.

They said/We said: Arty takes on fashion pop up in several November issues
Photography by Fulvio Bonavia for Garage Magazine This month it seems like fashion magazines are turning more and more towards art for inspiration, creating editorials that blur the lines between the two. For Garage magazine photographer Fulvio Bonavia and stylist Giovanna Battaglia, this resulted in creating replicas of dresses from designers Fall 2011 collections—using food. Did you ever think you would see a McQueen dress made entirely of lettuce or a Louis Vuitton dress made of walnuts? Neither did we.
The foodatorial comes just a week after W magazine revealed two covers for their Art and Fashion issue: one, by artist Ai Wei Wei, depicts a model being tackled to the ground and the other, by artist Francesco Vezzoli, features Nicki Minaj as a stately lady complete with grey hair and pearls. Inside the issue are several ad parodies photographed by Steven Meisel. While designers gaining inspiration from art is nothing new, the covers and editorials born out of a fine art muse have been a breath of fresh air.

They said/We said: Brad Kroenig’s 3-year-old son only wears designers
Photography via The Coveteur Barely out of a crib, model offspring Hudson Kroenig has already starred in a Fendi campaign and walked the Chanel runway with dad Brad Kroenig. He’s also bffs with Karl Lagerfeld and even sleeps with an “Uncle Karl” doll gifted by the designer. (We’re not sure if this is adorable or creepy.) It seems that all eyes are on the little guy so naturally, Hudson got The Coveteur treatment.

They said/We said: Karl Lagerfeld to launch a new and affordable signature line in February
Karl Lagerfeld fans rejoice! The designer is introducing a more affordable line called Karl launching on Net-a-Porter in January and on his own site in February. The line, with pieces that will run from $85–$415, is described as “rock” and “street” and will feature lots of denim, leather, fingerless gloves, and silvery jeans, which isn’t a far stretch from Lagerfeld’s daily attire. If dressing like Lagerfeld isn’t enough for you, various items of clothing from the line will feature Lagerfeld’s silhouette, including the waistbands of underwear.
Lagerfeld will also introduce a higher end line, Karl Lagerfeld Paris, that will target Europe, Asia, and China, and only be available in select stores in North America. No word yet if this line will include underwear.

They said/We said: Apparently men are totally into wearing high heels now
Photo by Amy Dickerson for The New York Times Men in high heels. We won’t lie—we heard whisperings of this micro-trend, but had not quite believed it until we saw an article in last week’s New York Times. (If it’s in the NYT style section it’s gotta be newsworthy, right?)
