Long-time Yves Saint Laurent muse and collaborator Loulou de la Falaise passed away this weekend at the age of 63. Most know her for her relationship with the legendary designer and her bohemian way of accessorizing outfits with turbans, headscarves, and her oversized baubles, but we didn’t think that was enough. We’ve rounded up our favourite facts and anecdotes sure to live on in Loulou’s legacy:

What was your first job at J.Crew?
“I started 20 years ago. I was an assistant to an assistant.”

Are you bringing back company loyalty?
[Laughs] “I never in a million years dreamed that I would be at the same [place]. I spend more time at my job than I do with my family, so my job does feel like a family.”

What’s your secret to becoming a fashion powerhouse? What advice would you give to someone starting out?
“Love what you do. The people who I see as successful [are those who] stay in the moment and try and do the best they can. Those are the people you want to promote. They’re the ones who are thinking about new ideas and trying to do their job better.”

Today for Fashion’ween we’re bringing you one of the most iconic fashion couples of all time: Mick and Bianca Jagger, circa their 1971 wedding in St. Tropez. (You know the one: Bianca in her famed white Yves Saint Laurent white tux. Mick in all his rockstar hotness.) Fair warning: it takes quite a bit of money to achieve this vintage look without, well, going vintage—but then again, Bianca and Mick were rock ‘n’ roll royalty so we think this costume worth going all out for.

For those of you who missed it, Tom Ford was on television last night, speaking almost no stop for a whole hour. About things like baths, mid-life crises, and leaving Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind, a series of OWN documentaries looking at the top creative minds, followed the designer for the past year or so, through the intimate launch of his womenswear collection last September to the opening of his store in Beverley Hills earlier this year. Throughout the hour, the designer/genius/demigod throws out so many quotables about fashion, branding, style, and art that we’ve lost count. Here though, are the top six most unexpected:

Sculpted bags that mimic pearly seashells at Chanel; a cross-sectional view of a jacket’s shoulder pads at Lanvin; treated silk so slick you’d swear it was leather at Balenciaga; and intricately embroidered ruffles at Yves Saint Laurent. When it comes to decadent details in a collection these French heavyweight houses win hands down.

Right on the heels of announcing Emily Blunt as the new face of Opium, Yves Saint Laurent has released this teaser trailer announcing the fragrance’s return to the screen in December.

With a thriving ready-to-wear brand, several collaboration projects on the go, four kids, a dashing hubby (publisher Alasdhair Willis) and an icon for a Dad (Sir Paul!) it’s little wonder we bow down to Stella McCartney. Who doesn’t want to be a Stella girl? She’s effortlessly chic but not perfectly turned out; she is a minimalist but has a playful side; she is confident and a great confidante. In the modeling world a Stella girl looks like Miranda Kerr, Natasha Poly, Natalia Vodianova, or Anja Rubik, fitting given that they all walked in McCartney’s Spring 2012 show. And what a show it was: crisp white jackets with mesh inserts, Baroque-inspired embellishment, a shockwave of royal blue, tunics with side slits (a big theme this week), casual pieces in a graphic wave motif reminiscent of silk pajamas, paisley (welcome back!), one-shouldered dresses, onyx-white clutches, sporty flatforms, and quilted shoulder bags tied in a bow.

After a few lackluster seasons and being reportedly difficult to work with, it’s been rumoured that Stefano Pilati will be out at Yves St Laurent once his contract is up in March 2012. The fashion world is dying to know who his replacement will be. According to the New York Times’ Suzy Menkes, who suggested the move in her review of Sander’s Spring 2012 collection, Raf Simons will be YSL’s new head designer.

Menkes’ comments on Simons replacing Pilati sent the blogosphere and Twitterverse into a frenzy with even her colleague Jessica Michault tweeting that Menkes broke the news. Both YSL and Jil Sander have denied rumours. YSL told WWD that “Stefano Pilati continues to dedicate his talent and energies to Yves Saint Laurent and the coming fashion show.”  On Sander’s end, it’s being reported that Simons has signed on to do four more seasons for the label.

While it doesn’t look like Pilanti is going anywhere in the next week or so, it isn’t confirmed that he’s renewed his contract with YSL. We’re hoping for some fresh blood at YSL sometime in the near future, even if it isn’t Simons, although we have our fingers crossed that it will be.

First up: we’re channeling Mia Wasikowska.  At last night’s Restless premiere, the actress was wearing a lady-like, double-tie houndstooth dress, showing off her sleek figure and natural, effortless beauty. She wore the dress, a slightly sheer number (dare we guess Yves Saint Laurent?) hitting just above the knee, showing off her simple Loubs. We love the simple yet modern look, and the confident pop of colour on the lip fits right in.
