Candy couture? Skittles debuted bejeweled eyebrows a day before Chanel
Watch the Skittles commercial »
We’ve speculated before on the connection between high fashion influences and mass-market advertising, but usually the former debuts months before the latter. However, it seems like the Don Drapers over at
DDBLatinWorks are following the same trends as Karl Lagerfeld. Released on Monday (that’s a full day before Chanel’s Fall 2012 show!) the newest Skittles commercial revolves around some pretty familiar eyebrows. Sure, they aren’t hand embroidered by Lesage, but we find it a rather delicious coincidence nonetheless. -
From runway to… weight loss commercials? We’re digging the high fashion lipstick in this French ad campaign
Bring on the lipstick! See all the posters »
When you think of beauty trends, weight loss commercials are generally not the first (or even second, third, or fourth!) thing that comes to mind. However, we can’t stop watching this French ad for Weight Watchers—all because of its stunning makeup artistry. Created by Parisian agency Fred & Farid, the commercial and posters are a huge departure from anything we’ve see this side of the Atlantic. Gone are the approachable spokeswomen and their before and after poses. Instead: bright, highly saturated shots of lips and food—with creative lipstick designs at the centre of it all.

How long does it take you to see Raquel Zimmermann in this McQueen ad?
It really did take us a while to spot Zimmermann in this Nick Knight-snapped ad for Alexander McQueen‘s Spring 2010 campaign. Beyoncé is launching her first fragrance. Heat comes out at the end of January, inspired by all the pyrotechnics a Beyoncé concert demands. “A lot of my performances have had fire involved, so we thought ‘Heat,’” the singer told WWD. Suffice to say, the ads will be steamy. [WWD]
