Angelina Jolie stuns in Saint Laurent during her first appearance post double mastectomy
“Very grateful” are the words Hollywood’s leading lady Angelia Jolie used to describe how she was feeling during her first red carpet appearance since undergoing a widely publicized double-mastectomy. The brunette beauty, who announced the news of her preventative procedures to the New York Times on May 14th, described her happiness in seeing the discussion about women’s health expanded since sharing her story. The news has made waves all over the world, encouraging women everywhere to consider their options. FASHION contributor Amy Verner was inspired to share her own experiences with the suddenly “trending topic” in article for the Globe and Mail.
Jolie, who has six children with fiancée Brad Pitt, lost her own mother to ovarian cancer in 2007. When the actress learned that she carried the faulty gene that increased her chances of breast cancer to 87 percent, she chose to take action to minimize her risk. “Life comes with many challenges”, the actress wrote in her New York Times article, “The ones that should not scare us are the ones we can take on and take control of.”

Has Angelina Jolie found a wedding dress designer?
If you’ve been placing bets like we have on who’s going to design Angelina Jolie’s wedding dress, you better re-examine your choices. The actress is looking for a designer who is “not so obvious for designing wedding gowns”. The one she’s after? Rumor has it that it’s L’Wren Scott.
Scott, although not known for designing wedding gowns, is a regular go-to for celebrities such as Nicole Kidman and Sarah Jessica Parker when they hit up red carpet events, and according to a “friend” of Jolie’s the designer is “the one who understands her body the most.”

Not feeling Brad Pitt’s Chanel No. 5 ad? This second video may change your mind
And the plot thickens. The saga of Chanel No. 5’s Brad Pitt campaign continues with a second edition of the commercial. The monologue from Monday’s ad—which is voiced by Pitt, the brand’s first male ambassador for the fragrance—remains the same only now the commercial is less about his brooding face and more about Chanel No. 5.

The Brad Pitt Chanel No.5 commercial is here and he has a pretty soulful message for us
Finally the Brad Pitt-fronted Chanel No.5 campaign has been released and it’s basically the star telling us YOLO (or so we’d like to believe). Plans disappear, dreams take over and every journey ends says a sad and scruffy Brad Pitt, with a soulful smile that still manages to go right into our hearts. The commercial’s […]

We’ve got the scoop and all the looks from Agyness Deyn’s 90s-inspired collection for Dr. Martens
Since most of us are still riding the wave of Britannia fanaticism post-London Olympics, news that Brit model Agyness Deyn has teamed up with famed London label Dr. Martens for a capsule collection could not be better timed.
Deyn, who first scored a pair of Dr. Martens boots at the age of 13, has been the face of the brand for the past two years. Her debut 29-piece collection will now have her at the helm of many design collaborations to come (a spring/summer 2013 line is already wrapped up). The collaboration pulls heavily from Deyn’s own signature grungy aesthetic, while also finding inspiration from style icons of the ‘90s.

They said/We said: We (and the rest of the world) place bets on what Angelina Jolie and her leg will be wearing on her wedding day
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are officially engaged, so move over Will and Kate, because it’s been dubbed the “true wedding of the century.” (Believe us, we wish we were lying.) Hyperbole aside, the news has spurred a million questions: What will she wear? Will Brad shave his god-awful beard? Will she Angeleg at the altar? Has Brad been practicing his lines to avoid pulling a Ross-says-Rachel at the wedding?

Our 5 favourite reasons why Kate Middleton was (obviously!) named Hat Person of the Year
Check out our top 5 hat picks! »
Kate Middleton has won the title of Hat Person of the Year by the Los Angeles-based Headwear Association. Sure, the new honour may not be as revered as that of becoming a Duchess, but Kate won against some stiff competition, so that’s got to feel good, right?
Who were her rival mad hatters? Winning with 91 per cent of online fan votes, she crushed Ne-Yo, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Rachel Zoe, and… Charlie Sheen? Really? Well, maybe it was an obvious choice.

TIFF red carpet: What do you think of Brangelina’s black-on-black matching outfits?
Okay, so maybe they’re not twins, but we can’t help but think that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt planned their back-to-black outfits together. Angie, in an asymmetrical satin Vivienne Westwood gown, a Louis Vuitton clutch, and jewellery of her own design (what!?!), and Brad in well… scruff, at last night’s Moneyball premiere look like two peas in one expensive, slightly Addams Family–esque pod. And we s’pose they should.

Fashion news: Zero doing mens, LiLo doing Bebe and smell like dead-celeb DNA
Maria Cornejo is working on a menswear collection to be launched this spring. The four unisex looks shown at the Spring 2010 Zero + Maria Cornejo show received such a great response that the designer has expanded the lineup. The clothes are set to appear in stores January 15. [The Cut]
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designed a jewellery collection called The Protector for Asprey. The line features snake-themed necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings in gold and silver. The snake coil jewellery was inspired by a ring worn by Jolie while pregnant with Shiloh that’s since become a symbol of protection to the couple. Profits will go to the couple’s charity of choice, Education Partnership for Children of Conflict. [WWD]
