Toronto shop notes: Pink frosted bra
Judging from spring’s lip-smacking lineup of candy-floss hues (peach at 3.1 Phillip Lim, lemon at Preen, mint at Louis Vuitton), now’s the time to indulge in something sweet. Update your lingerie drawer with pretty pastel pieces like this pink frosted bra ($35) from Triumph (triumph.com). Perfect for those who prefer a little sugar with their spice.

Vancouver It girl: Manjy Sidoo
Editor: Sarah Casselman
Manjy Sidoo’s magnum opus may be motherhood (she has two teenage boys with her hubby David, a former CFL player), but her philanthropic endeavours are a close second. She’s a director at the Sidoo Family Foundation and a board member of the Vancouver Opera (VO), which she joined 10 years ago for the Chanel Gala 2002 fundraiser. Today, she’s a regular participant in VO events (and one of the best-dressed, in her sweeping Oscar de la Renta gowns), such as Purseuasion Designer Bag Auction and Luncheon, and Overture, an onstage dinner she’s co-chairing this year. This intersection of art and fashion inspires her involvement. “Fashion is all around us. It’s hard for me not to have a heightened awareness of my aesthetic surrounding,” she says. “If I see a beautiful dress or antique or piece of art, I have a visceral reaction.”

One fine photo: Jessica Stam, photographed by Gabor Jurina for FASHION’s February 2005 issue
“There’s something extremely appealing about Jessica Stam’s red hair, electric blue eyes and red lips; they stand out against the white background,” says art director Maarten Sluyter, who joined FASHION in February 2011. “The lighting is so soft and fresh, like a Sunday morning when you’re just waking up and there’s no rush to get out of bed. It makes me think of Marilyn Monroe’s last photo shoot; Stam has captured that same feeling of desire and vulnerability. Because there’s very little fashion in this shot, it has a timeless quality. I could see this photo a hundred times and never get tired of it.”

Teen Dream: Canadian Shay Mitchell is making waves in L.A. with a TV role that puts sexuality front and centre
By Jason Anderson.
Editor: Rani Sheen. It was only recently that Shay Mitchell became someone who might get recognized by fans in public, so it’s understandable that she finds it all “a little weird.”
“Sometimes they’ll walk by you the first time and not say anything, but just stare at you,” says the star of Pretty Little Liars, a high school–set mystery series that’s swiftly become essential viewing for teens and a guilty pleasure for TV fans outside the demographic. “For a while I was thinking, ‘Do I have something on my face? Do I have toilet paper hanging off my shoe?’” she says. “It’s very flattering. I like to stop and chit-chat.”

February 2012: Letter from the editor
This month, we have devoted 16 pages to the extraordinary Bosnian-born Australian model Andrej Pejic, but there is still so much more to say. Pejic is a man who dresses like a woman—sometimes. However, he is not a cross-dresser in the way that some men dip into their wives’ panty drawers for a thrill. He is not a drag queen, like RuPaul, who routinely took three hours to transform from freckled Southern gentleman to seven-foot-tall glamazon in size 13 pumps. And he doesn’t like to say whether, like Chaz Bono, he is on his way to the other side.
So who is he?
