4 trends to try now: Take on fall’s equestrian, fun fur, leather and geometric trends with 29 perfect shopping picks
Jump to trend: FUN FUR | EQUESTRIAN | LEATHER | GEOMETRIC
If you’re ready for a mid-season wardrobe shakeup, we have four hot-on-the-runway trends to try. We’ve taken inspiration from some of our favourite Fall 2012 runways and made the looks ready for the streets. From geometric prints á la Prada paired with a classic pair of jeans to a tough leather jacket as seen at Gareth Pugh with a badass studded ring. We’re also into having some fun with fur and taking the pelts out of their natural hues and wearing bold orange vests like at Blumarine and green-cuffed gloves paired with a delicate watch to make the look a little bit more casual. And if wearing fur isn’t your jam, try looking like you’re riding a horse with some equestrian inspired gear from riding pants to classic knee high boots. Hop to it and get on board with some of our favourite looks for fall. We swear you’ll like it.

TFW Diary: Über graphics meet the Fair Isle in Line’s stellar fall collection
View the full collection »
See all Toronto Fashion Week coverage »Line has us covered for all sorts of cozy knits come fall. Combined with slimmer underpinnings the collection features knobby knits in rich eggplants, oranges, and greens. The best looks were schoolboy inspired—picture: über graphic-meets-Fair Isle knits topping untucked oxford shirts and bulky trousers. The results were just as successful when sweaters were layered atop sweaters (shocker!) and paired with a sheen-y (but not quite metallic) skinny pant.
And while our ever-picky eyes couldn’t help but focus on the somewhat puzzling inclusion of fur-knuckled fingerless gloves (nor the redundant black leather leggings, if we’re being honest), we have a mile high ‘want’ list of stylish Line knits for fall.

Exclusive: On set for fall with Line Knitwear!
When the Canadian design duo behind Line, John Muscat and Jennifer Wells, created their first collection in 2000, they were seeking a common ground between comfort and luxury using jersey, silk and leather. Just over a decade later, after garnering fame for their ultra-luxe knits, they’re one of the hottest labels around, scoring celebrity fans such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Taylor Swift and Sandra Bullock. Earlier this week, we hopped in a cab and headed over to get the exclusive sneak peek on the set of their fall 2011 look book shoot, featuring Canadian model Amanda Laine.

Holt Renfrew opens fashion week with an all-Canadian runway show
It takes a certain amount of guts to co-opt Diana Vreeland’s famous line, “Pink is the navy blue of India.” Holt Renfrew turned that on its ear at last night’s LG Fashion Week opener, casting magenta–their signature shade–to fill that role in Canada. Well it was, at least for the night, when the luxury department store brought nine designers from their stable of homegrown talent to the runway. It was a blockbuster ticket that included five looks each from Jeremy Laing, Lida Baday, Line, Pink Tartan, jacket specialists Smythe, glamour veteran Wayne Clark, Mikhael Kale, menswear label Wings + Horns and Montreal designer Denis Gagnon. With a few of the designers, it was a bit of an appetizer–Pink Tartan and Line show tonight and Gagnon presents on Friday–but the show also served as a crib sheet for some of our country’s brightest fashion lights (and a handy-dandy walking catalogue for Holts’ customers).
