Over the last month, rumours that Kate is indeed […]

NYFW diary: Huffing and puffing all the way to Ralph Lauren
After a slight subway snafu that left me and my fashion week other-half, Globe & Mail fashion scribe Amy Verner, racing down Hudson Street (thank heavens we both wore flats) with no time to spare, we huffed and puffed and took our seats as the lights dimmed on Ralph Lauren’s spring show. While I looked like a haggard mess, Ralph’s girls were the picture of ladylike perfection—clad in cloche hats, beaded gowns in buttercup yellow, mint, and blush, silky wide leg trousers, and fine-knit cable cardigans—all channelling their inner Daisy Buchanan for a nostalgic New York runway experience.

Scalloped edges vs. sweater sets: Hannah MacGibbon out and Clare Waight Keller in at Chloé
It seems we can’t go a week without a changing of the guard at a major fashion label, and this morning that honour belonged to Chloé. With two consecutive tweets heard round the fashion world, the venerated French label announced that, after months of hushed murmurs, creative director Hannah MacGibbon was leaving the company.

Saddle up! FASHION heads to Phoenix to wrangle some southwest accessories
Like its perfect partner, denim, western wear never really goes out of style. But every so often, the true grit trend has a runway revival, with designers reinterpreting its classic tenets in irresistibly modern ways. Spring 2011 was such a season: Ralph Lauren⎯but of course⎯corralled cowgirl cool with metallic boots, silver and stone jewellery and fringed leather, Blumarine went wild, belting flashy animal prints with oversized ram’s-head buckles and Hermès reigned in the look with chic equestrian details topped off with sophisticated Stetson-esque wide-brimmed hats.

The thought of getting out of bed for a 7am spin class makes most of us want to dive back under the covers, especially when working out involves wearing a nasty old gym shirt. Enter Michi, a hot new luxury active line that will have you out of bed and feeling the burn before you can say “calisthenics.”

Spring 2011 preview: What we loved at New York fashion week
MY FAVOURITE…PARTY:
The reopening of Chanel’s SoHo store. The guest list included S.J.P., Liv Tyler, Jessica Stam, Blake Lively, DJ/It girl Alexa Chung and the man of the hour, Karl Lagerfeld. Guests channelled their inner Basquiat by grabbing a canister of Chanel-branded infrared spray paint from one of the handsome cater waiters and unleashing on the digital graffiti wall.MY FAVOURITE…SHOW:
Michael Kors’ sunshine state of mind. I can’t get enough of his cool-as-a-cucumber crinkled linens, tissue cashmeres and hand smocking.
