Tamara Mellon is switching roles at Jimmy Choo from founder and president to founder and chief creative officer. Vogue UK writes that “[I]n this new position Mellon will continue to oversee the label’s brand image, including product design, public relations and advertising campaigns. Sandra Choi will continue in her role as creative director with responsibility for product design.” If Mellon and Choi are both continuing to do what they already did, what exactly is this “new role” for Mellon? Fashion news: Donatella Versace bemoans the loss of egos, Robert Duffy learns the power of Twitter, and a mani at the auto shop
Donatella Versace just wants fashion to be a fun, ego-fuelled mania again–like the good old days. To wit: Kristen McMenamy and Linda Evangelista once battled over who had blonde hair with black roots first. “I was called on as a witness to say who was the first to do black roots in blonde hair. At the time Steven Miesel was really inventing the look of the girls in this way, so I knew who was first: Kristen.” At another show, McMenamy allegedly stole one of Evangelina’s fake boobs. That does actually sound like a lot of fun. [Independent, via The Cut]

Tavi scores a column in Harper’s Bazaar
It appears the fashion world will not stop until we are completely fatigued by teenage blogger Tavi Gevinson. She writes: “Raf Simons at Jil Sander presented dresses and skirts that appeared […]

Tavi charms Elijah Wood and everyone else in her Rodarte x Target video
Putting aside for a moment our reservations about the current teen blogger hysteria (Tavi at CDG! Sea of Shoes at the Crillon Ball!) we find this video that the aforementioned Tavi created for Rodarte’s Target collab to be pretty endearing. The Style Rookie blogger/Rodarte BFF captured the campaign shoot in North Dakota (where her mom sang Norwegian lullabies) and the widely-leaked preview at New York’s Gagosian Gallery, where Tavi charmed Elijah Wood and offered up commentary on her favourite pieces from the collection–among them a mustard-coloured lace sweater which she “might wear every day, which is kind of gross.” Spoken like a true 13-year-old.
