Since Gabby Douglas made Olympic history as the first African-American and the third U.S. gymnast ever to win the all-around gold, her hair has also been making headlines. While we still don’t understand why viewers took to social media to call out the pint-sized 16-year-old for having unkempt hair (her bun looked just as slick as her teammates’ updos!) today the story gets a little better: Douglas got a gold medal-worthy haircut from celebrity stylist Ted Gibson.

It’s a sunny Saturday morning in West Hollywood and Rita Ryack, the Oscar-nominated costume designer known for her work on Casino and A Beautiful Mind, is on a hunt for sequined dresses. Production on the film Rock of Ages is wrapping and she needs one more piece for Catherine Zeta-Jones’ character. Judging by the racks she’s browsing, which are filled with this season’s hottest labels and trends—Versace print T-shirts, heavily embellished Moschino jackets, sweeping red carpet–worthy gowns—you’d think she were shopping at an upscale department store. Think again. She’s at The Way We Wore, a vintage-clothing mecca that attracts A-list clients like Angelina Jolie, Dita Von Teese and Katy Perry. The shop is full of high-end designer pieces, like little black dresses from Chanel, elegant Christian Dior gowns, Pauline Trigère party dresses and Pucci pyjama pants, all dating from the 1930s to the early 1990s.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are officially engaged, so move over Will and Kate, because it’s been dubbed the “true wedding of the century.” (Believe us, we wish we were lying.) Hyperbole aside, the news has spurred a million questions: What will she wear? Will Brad shave his god-awful beard? Will she Angeleg at the altar? Well, our vote for the biggest upset at this year’s Oscars has to be the makeup. From Michelle Williams’ usual routine of a glossed lip and lightly lined eye to Cameron Diaz’s typical pink lipstick, it seemed like almost all the top stars were playing it safe on the red carpet. Neutral shades and sheer nail polish abound! That being said, amongst all the usual suspects it’s still possible to find inspiration—like Rooney Mara’s perfect brows, Angelina Jolie’s flawless red lip, and Emma Stone’s all-over pink shimmer. To those who thought Uggie the dog, of The Artist fame, would have upstaged last night’s Academy Awards, it seems that you’ve underestimated the power of Angelina Jolie. And her right leg. The movie star repeatedly—and that’s an emphatic repeatedly—showed off her gam through the up-to-there slit in her strategically-fitting Atelier Versace velour gown à la Wonder Woman (read: hand on hip, right leg far, far, far out). The superhero stance had people everywhere asking, “Doesn’t she have a million six children (not to mention a stylist) to tell her to close her legs?”

Alas, there was nobody to coerce the leg into a friendly retreat as it popped out again and again and finally made its way onto the internet and became a meme. Before the end of the show, there were 3,339 tweets per minute about the “Angeleg,” a bona fide Twitter account with 12,500 followers, and a do-it-yourself ‘Legbombing’ tool. Even the forward-thinking screenwriters of The Descendants popped an exaggerated Jolie pose during their acceptance speech (which, dare we say, was hands down the best of the night).

We’re hoping that “Angelegging” won’t become the red-carpet equivalent of the famous Claudia Schiffer runway walk. But hey, anything to liven up a somewhat predictable red carpet, right?

Word: Awkscars

Meaning: The Oscars, now with 90 per cent more wtf-ness.

Usage: “More like the AWKSCARS. Everything is so f***ing awkward! I love it!” — a tweet by Aubrey Plaza, who awesomely goes by @evilhag.

Some of the top Fall runway trends made their way deep into red carpet territory tonight, as the A-listers put on Hollywood’s biggest and best parade. From the rich reds on Emma Stone and Natalie Portman seen this season on the runway at Michael Kors, to the crisp whites on Gwyneth Paltrow, Rooney Mara, and Octavia Spencer seen at Raf Simons‘ last Jil Sander collection (not to mention everywhere at the Golden Globes), to the peplums spotted on Michelle Williams, Tina Fey, and just about every runway from New York to Milan, it seems that everyone is drinking the same Kool-Aid.
