Homophobia Is Alive and Well in Hollywood
Carmen Logie remembers the very first time she heard of HIV/AIDS. It was the mid-1980s and she was about 10 years old when she saw a billboard that read “AIDS kills.” This jarring introduction to an unknown concept confused her. She remembers thinking, “What is this? AIDS kills?” Now an associate professor in the Factor-Inwentash […]

Gucci, Beyoncé & Matt Damon Care About the Global Water Crisis, You Should Too
On this day last year, dozens of celebrities threw up a “W” sign on Instagram. The two-handed sign caused a stir on social media, with Adele, Ed Sheeran and Emma Stone among those who made a pledge to support World Water Day, an initiative that hopes to bring awareness to the clean-water crisis. One year later, this […]

When Frances McDormand won the Oscar for Best Actress, she used her acceptance speech as a rallying call to Hollywood. She invited her fellow female nominees to stand in solidarity, let out a terrifying cackle and finished with two words that prompted a wave of Google searches and explainer articles. “Inclusion Rider: look it up,” she […]

Emmys 2016: Everything You Need to Know If You Didn’t Tune In
The Emmys should be the awards show we most anticipate nowadays, given that we binge-watch series more than we hit up the theatre. But, let’s be honest, it’s hard to stay up till 11 on a school night when there’s not a party involved, so we don’t blame you if you missed it. Here’s what […]

All the juicy details from Lainey Gossip’s 9th annual Smut Soiree
The rain couldn’t keep gossipmongers away from Lainey Gossip’s 9th Annual Smut Soiree. The self appointed Dean of the Faculty of Celebrity Studies opened her dirt discussion, moderated by entertainment reporter Teri Hart, with the promise of “gossip jizz” and we all leaned in (not in the Sheryl Sandberg way), eyes widening. Herewith, the revelatory highlight reel:

TIFF 2012: Keira Knightley, Nina Dobrev, Amy Adams, Jude Law and many (many) more celebs spotted at Grey Goose Soho House
It was another doozy of a night at the Grey Goose Soho House last night, with TIFF celebs upon TIFF celebs upon TIFF celebs showing up en masse to toast their various premieres, presentations and pals. As the official after party spot for Anna Karenina, Soho House’s first megawatt guest was Keira Knightley. Flawless in a black sheer lace-y floor-length Elie Saab gown, it was said that her every move was swanlike, and we believe it. Co-stars Jude Law and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (alongside his May-December love, director and photographer Sam Taylor-Wood) channelled their period costumes, both wearing three-piece suits. Though there isn’t photo evidence of Matthew MacFayden’s wears, we’ll have an imaginary vision of him in period-inspired attire as well. We’ll also imagine his Mr. Darcy coif intact.

TIFF news: the InStyle party, Ed Norton snubs the cameras and stars remember Swayze
Matt Damon, Amanda Seyfried, and Colin Farrell were shot by InStyle at the Windsor Arms for the November issue. The magazine’s party at the hotel later that night drew Clive Owen, Robin Wright, Keanu Reeves and Fergie (the royal, not the singer). [WWD] [@mbilodeau]
Ed Norton was none too pleased to see the media at the Cheval after party for his film Leaves of Grass. Norton didn’t walk the red carpet or give the cameras a shot, sneaking into the party inconspicuously. [Toronto Life]
