Curly and wavy hairstyles are, without a doubt, one of our favourite red carpet looks. From perfectly coiffed Old Hollywood ringlets to messy beach waves, there are endless ways to wear your hair down—while still giving it some style. Curly hair is easier to master than an updo, looks much more dramatic than a ponytail and definitely has an appeal that straight hair just can’t match. Need further proof? While we’ve seen both Blake Lively and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley flaunt their gorgeous figures in statement mini dresses, the two blonde bombshells proved that they can take a midi skirt and make it look just as sexy and elegant on the red carpet.

Accompanying her husband, Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively attended the premiere of the animated film Turbo in New York City last night. While the couple both wore Burberry, Lively inevitably turned heads in a fresh summery ensemble. Contrasting Reynolds’ midnight-blue suit, the former Gossip Girl star wore a simple sheer grey tank top and a white form-fitting pencil skirt with crystal embellishments from Burberry Prorsum’s Resort 2014 collection. She also elongated the appearance of her legs by opting for a pair of nude pointed-toe heels by Christian Louboutin. Adding to the sparkles, she accessorized with rose cut diamond earrings and 18 karat white, pink and yellow gold rings by Lorraine Schwartz. (The perfect complement to her super-sized engagement ring and wedding band!) Lively showed off her natural beauty with minimum makeup and kept things effortless with her hair down in soft waves and subtle pink lips.

Goodbye LBD because this summer it is all about the LWD. With the 66th Cannes Film Festival still going strong, we’ve noticed many leading ladies opting to wear white on the red carpet. Jessica Chastain, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Biel have all been wearing white throughout the festival—the way the colour complements the beautiful French Riviera setting could of course, be a strong reason why it’s been so popular. Most recently, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Marion Cotillard caught our eye, with both working variations of the little white dress on the Cannes red carpet. It’s certainly made the LWD a must-have on our summer shopping list.

Supporter of the cause and one of the top models for The Ultimate Gold Collection fashion show, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley arrived at this year’s amfAR Gala looking glamorous in the most effortless way possible. Wearing Dior, the white crepe strapless dress consists of an off-white and pink-print silk and satin skirt. She accessorized with a pair of crisp white pointed-toe Christian Louboutin heels and completed her look with smoky eyes and loose, wavy hair.

The 66th annual Cannes Film Festival is underway and the never-ending parade of red carpet dresses certainly makes it one of the top sartorial events of the year. As a twelve-day film festival that hosts multiple parties, photo calls and premieres each day, A-list stars and international icons bringing their best looks to the French Riviera. Arguably the most anticipated movie of the year, The Great Gatsby, had its European premiere at Cannes last week—and the red carpet was filled with outfits just as glamourous as the film itself, including Cara Delevingne’s sultry Burberry laced ensemble and Carey Mulligan’s Dior Couture gown.
