Met Gala 2014: The 10 best dressed couples on the red carpet
The best dressed Met Gala 2014 couples »
Last night’s Met Gala might as well have been called the “Battle of the Power Couples” with well-dressed duos walking the red carpet matching in designer-clad ensembles for this year’s Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
There was lots of talk over whether or not the Beckhams would make an appearance at this year’s Met Gala, but rumours were put to rest when the It Brit couple arrived on the red carpet in matching white ensembles. While David Beckham escorted his wife looking dapper in a white Ralph Lauren Black Label tuxedo jacket with black pants, Victoria Beckham was a vision in white wearing a strapless column dress of her design.
But if we were to dub the cutest power couple of the night, it would have to go to Beyoncé and Jay-Z hands down. According to sources, Queen Bey may have lost her ring for a short period of time while flaunting her envious curves in a Givenchy Couture dress at the sea of paparazzi. Luckily hubby, who was also in Givenchy, was there by her side to find it and put a ring on it while down on one knee (cue the awws).

Met Gala 2014: The 54 best dressed on last night’s epic red carpet

If reports about Anna Wintour wanting this year’s Met Gala to be more exclusive were true, they certainly did not apply to the A-list. Last night’s red carpet was stacked (and we mean stacked) with just about everyone from the recluse to rising star. Surely, it had something to do with the fact that last night was the inaugural Met Gala celebrating the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s renamed Anna Wintour Costume Center. Maybe too, it was just like the rest of us have been trained to understand: The Met Gala is not to be missed.
Honouring oft-forgotten American couturier Charles James, last night’s event was all about 1950s glamour. Its “white tie” guest-list prompted gents like Johnny Depp and Kanye West to wear tails, Zoe Saldana to wear a recreated Michael Kors bustle and both Taylor Swift and Sarah Jessica Parker to take to the stairs with over-the-top Oscar de la Renta trains. Unlike the sometimes cookie cutter Oscars, the Met Gala is a time to break out some real steez and red carpet queen Lupita Nyong’o did just that in a flapper-inspired feathered Prada dress. Perhaps more Poiret than James, the dress made for some serious chatter from both the “for” and “against” camps. Fellow red carpet queen (and queen of life, truly) Rihanna went anti-theme in a sexy stomach-baring Stella McCartney dress which killed, as usual.

You know spring is in full bloom when the A-list walks the red carpet in outfits that just scream this season’s hottest trends.
This week celebrities continued to arrive at The Tribeca Film Festival in lust-worthy outfits one day after another. While Emma Roberts worked a vampy look, Emma Watson ditched her ball gowns from the Noah promo tour and opted for a pastel pink outfit with a modern twist at last Sunday’s Boulevard premiere. Chanel hosted its Annual Artists Dinner during the film festival with stellar ladies like Joan Smalls, Lily Aldridge and Leigh Lezark decked out in the fashion house’s much-coveted dresses.

SAG Awards 2014: Our top 12 red carpet picks

If there were one word to sum up the 20th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, it would be colour. All of our favourite stars opted for a bright flash on the red carpet, with nary a head-to-toe black ensemble in sight. Even Jennifer Lawrence’s Christian Dior Haute Couture column dress was an array of shimmering multi-coloured sequins that changed hues as she moved. Black, it seems, is so 2013.
Also on the darker end of things, Jennifer Garner opted for a custom midnight blue Max Mara gown, in her favourite strapless mermaid silhouette. Dame Helen Mirren once again showed how to look seductive and age appropriate with a gorgeous black gown, lifted with gold foliage embroidery, from the Escada Pre-Fall 2014 collection. The wide sash belt, pop of colour on the lips, and black and gold chandelier earrings all worked together seamlessly. We bow down to the greatness that is Dame Mirren.
Bringing some high-voltage blues to the red carpet were frequent best-dressed list toppers Lupita Nyong’o and Amy Adams, both in killer dresses. Nyong’o’s Gucci column dress featured an embellished neckline that was as unusual as it was jaw dropping. Matched with pared down jewels from Fred Leighton, the actress went on to win Best Supporting Actress for 12 Years A Slave in stunning fashion. Adams’ Antonio Berardi gown was perfectly accented with a coral lip, an embellished waist, and complementary green and blue drop earrings.

Emmys 2013: From Elisabeth Moss to Kate Mara, the best short hair on the red carpet
See the best hair from the 2013 Emmy Awards »
Short hair is still where it’s at, with above-the-shoulder styles being amongst the best beauty looks on the 2013 Emmy Awards red carpet. From Elisabeth Moss’s cropped platinum cut to Kate Mara’s striking pin-straight style to Claire Danes’ faux bob, the message was clear: to stand out in a sea of Old Hollywood side parts and loose updos, you have to go short.
Not willing to let Betty Draper have all the fun, Elisabeth Moss debuted her freshly-dyed blonde hair on the Emmys red carpet. Channeling a little bit of a Charlize Theron vibe, the tousled, modern style was a new look for Moss—and a fierce one at that. As for Mad Men’s other leading ladies, both January Jones and Christina Hendricks kept their short cuts curly.

The Primetime Emmy Awards were held last night in L.A. drawing the stars of our favourite highly addictive shows. From Kerry to Carrie and beyond, the red carpet was lined with gown after gown of the most feminine pinks, vibrant blues and fresh off the runway pieces.
Making a simple but bold statement with fall’s pink trend, Rose Byrne showed clean lines in a petal pink Calvin Klein cropped two-piece as did January Jones in a textured Spring 2014 Givenchy strapless gown by Riccardo Tisci. Sisters Zooey and Emily Deschanel wore similarly hued gowns by J.Mendel and Houghton as they presented an award onstage. Blue was also popular for Tina Fey and Allison Williams, who worked cobalt blue in Narsico Rodriguez and Ralph Lauren respectively.
Our Emmys 2013 standouts include the ever-smoldering Sofia Vergara whose mind-blowing curves left us with body envy. The Modern Family star sizzled in a crimson Vera Wang gown and emerald Lorraine Schwartz earrings. Claire Danes, who walked away with a coveted Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama, was delicate in an off white Armani Privé Fall 2013 gown.
Accompanying the glamour came an evening chock full of surprises, laughs and unforgettable acceptance speeches. Memorable moments include the host Neil Patrick Harris’s mid-show musical number, Michael Douglas’s Liberace-esque speech and the funny and casually dressed Will Ferrell. With the best leading ladies in primetime television satisfying our sartorial needs on the red carpet and dapper gents as far as the eye could see at the Emmys 2013, glamour was definitely in the air!

Golden Globes 2013: 23 of the red carpet’s biggest, baddest and most beautiful dresses
See our photos from the Golden Globes 2013 red carpet »
Last night’s 70th annual Golden Globe Awards was a pretty epic lesson in red carpet trends. From the bright colours to the mermaid tails to the boob shows, the A-list all seemed to have consulted with each other’s stylists before arriving at the event. Red rose to the top of the colour charts, making bright appearances on Golden Globe winner Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture, Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta and Claire Danes in Versace. Richer shades were worn by Naomi Watts in Zac Posen, Taylor Swift in Donna Karan Atelier and Lena Dunham in Zac Posen (the verdict’s still out on Dunham’s dress, though we really don’t like to speak negatively about such a precious human).
Pastels also seemed a strong message on the red carpet, with every hue in the candy coated rainbow being tested against the natural beauty of the night’s various stars. Jessica Alba‘s signature bronzed glow was offset by her creamsicle orange Oscar de la Renta trumpet gown. Meanwhile, Golden Globe winner Jessica Chastain chose the most ideal aquamarine on the colour wheel for her Calvin Klein gown. Bravo!
On the flip side, stark black and white (and even a combo of both with Julianne Moore’s graphic black and white Tom Ford column dress) predictably showed up en masse on stars like Anne Hathaway in beaded white Chanel, Amanda Seyfried in stunning white Givenchy and Kate Hudson and Nicole Kidman, who were both clear standouts in statement-making black Alexander McQueen dresses.
And the mermaid tails, oh those mermaid tails. Thought they were retired? Think again. The ole pyramid hem is proving to be on a clear comeback, as worn by Amy Adams, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift and Jessica Alba.
As for the aforementioned boob-show, one flip through out Golden Globe red carpet gallery would show quite the bountiful selection. And really, is there much wrong with that?

Celeb poll: Vote for your favourite Golden Globes look!
Colour was everywhere on last night’s Golden Globes red carpet. So much so, that we are seriously considering a mid-winter makeover. From the emerald green worn by Angelina Jolie, Elizabeth Moss and Mila Kunis to the shades of bubblegum on Claire Danes, Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, the spectrum was covered at every point.
This year, it also seemed that the ball gown was eschewed – with the exception of a few knockout odes from Catherine Zeta-Jones and Olivia Wilde – for the sleek and sexy cutout lines on Emma Stone, Anne Hathaway and January Jones.

NYFW party pics: Blake Lively, SJP and Claire Danes at the Chanel SoHo fete
What does one wear to a Chanel boutique re-opening party? Chanel, bien sur! Think gold chains by way of belt or bijoux, pearls (and lots of them, darling) and tweed anything. Oh, and keep that palette to a stark black and white. Throw in a camillia or two and you look, well…passable–especially in light of […]

New York: Tommy Hilfiger, Malandrino, Ports 1961, Calvin Klein and Zac Posen Fall 2009
Don’t you just love starting the day with a tea and a little Tommy?
My first show of the day was Tommy Hilfiger, but before I talk clothes, I must talk crushes. My main squeeze—well, officially Diane Kruger’s—is Joshua Jackson. He brought along his million-dollar smile, baby face and jet black Wayfarers (and Kruger). Aw, Pacey….you’re all grown up but dang, you have that boyish charm down pat.
