Cannes 2014: The best men’s fashion moments (and by that we mean eye candy)
See the Cannes 2014 men’s fashion »
Images of beautiful women in couture gowns gracing the Cannes red carpet have dominated web buzz for the last several days and though we can’t get enough, we think it’s time for a valid chiffon pause in honour of Hollywood’s snappiest gentleman dressers. The Cannes 2014 red carpet has been good for men’s fashion, from Gucci lapels to laid back button downs.
Who are we kidding—roll out the eye candy!
A very grown-up Robert Pattinson emerged for the premiere of his new work, Maps to the Stars, looking festival apropos in all black and sporting a shorter, more mature (and therefore, more hot) haircut. And, whether Ryan Gosling was intentionally smoldering for the camera, or blinded by the Cannes sun, he seemed to gaze right through the lens and directly into our souls. The Canadian heartthrob looked handsome as ever in a light blue button up, brown trousers, and well-worn brown leather shoes. Blake Lively’s red carpet co-star Ryan Reynolds pulled his fashion weight wearing head-to-toe Gucci with a Bulgari watch (those two sure know how to work the red carpet)! With all the cinema excitement along the Riviera, one thing remains clear, no one can rock a light beige three-piece suit better than Adrien Brody.

Top Fall 2014 Trends: 226 runway and street style photos of fashion month’s 10 biggest moments

Your first time at any international fashion week will teach you a valuable lesson: You need a fur. And not just any Margot Tenenbaum style granny hand-me-down. A fur so intricately patterned, multi-layered and artificially coloured, that it has to be designer. Given its place at the apex of the top Fall 2014 trends, you’d think recessionary times were long gone—it’s virtually everywhere, from a hyper colour mink at Altuzarra to a fluffy red dress at Prada. Wear it with caution or as Dior prescribes, dangle it over your arm like it’s no big d. Let the fur fly, scruples or otherwise.

See the Milan Fashion Week Fall 2014 top trends »
Milan Fashion Week wraps today but we don’t have to wait till sundown to tell you the trends. Mother Nature was a heavy presence with some designers citing the elements as inspiration. Roberto Cavalli even ignited a giant ring of fire for the models to walk around (turning the tent into an oven, we might add). We also saw lots of fabric morphing and dark florals. Here’s what’s trending from the weekend’s shows:

Wearing the grey trend: 11 Style Panel tips for adding some personality to fall’s favourite neutral
Grey hasn’t always been our favourite neutral. With a connotation that’s more “mid-winter sky” than “exciting wardrobe staple,” it has taken a back seat for the past few seasons. That all changed for Fall 2013, when designers from Paris to New York re-imagined the grey trend in various exciting ways. On the runways, Alexander Wang […]

Icon worship: Examining the divine beauty look on Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2013 runway
See the backstage beauty report for Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2013 »
For Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2013, the divine beauty look complemented the religious iconography that inspired the collection. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana blessed their designs with elaborate motifs from the mosaics in Sicily’s Cathedral of Monreale. “We love the contrast it creates with the sensuality and the passion of the Dolce & Gabbana woman,” says Gabbana. Hair was backcombed for extra volume volume and gathered at the nape of the neck for what Guido Palau described as “natural Italian allure.”
The allure continued with the makeup, inspired by the country’s iconic screen siren, Sophia Loren. Pat McGrath paid homage with a classic cat eye and bold brow. As for the ultra-rich red lips, two shades of lipstick were mixed to create a custom hue and applied overtop a base of ruby-red pencil. Finally, the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2013 beauty look became a complete sensory experience with a few spritzes of the label’s latest scent, Intense. “Every time we go to Sicily, we are overwhelmed by the smell of the land,” says Dolce. “Flowers of every kind mix with the notes of the sea to create a unique bouquet.”

Exclusive: The scoop on Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey’s Dolce & Gabbana fragrance film
After months of teasers and anticipation, Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey are finally making movie magic together. However, their debut is of the small screen variety: they come together for “Street of Dreams,” a short film for Dolce & Gabbana’s The One ($66, sephora.ca) and The One for Men ($48, sephora.ca) fragrances.
Both actors have been the face of D&G fragrance for years now, but this is their first time appearing together on screen. What makes this 60-second stunner of a commercial even more exceptional is that the luxe brand enrolled the legendary Martin Scorsese to direct and film.
